Looking for Bermuda football kits
Passing through Bermuda on a cruise and one of the things I’m looking for is a national team jersey or one of the local clubs. Any ideas on where to look?
Space on non mariners?
Hi guys! Is anyone heading out for Non-Mariners and has space for 2 or 4 on their boat?
Of course, we would be happy to contribute — money, vibes, alcohol, food, you name it!
Our lovely friends will be visiting over Cup Match and really want to experience it, but I haven’t been able to secure anything yet. If all 4 of us could fit, that would be amazing, but even if there’s only space for our friends, we’d be so grateful.
They’re a lovely Scottish/British couple, and my wife and I are local but have just moved back after 12 years abroad.
Please let me know if anyone has space or knows of anything!
Weather forecast
My family and I are traveling to Bermuda next week (July, 6-12). The weather forecast looks quite drab. Is this normal for July?
Roofs
I would like to fly from the east coast to bermuda to see the famed white stepped roofs in action, hopefully during rain. I anticipate i need to stay more than a day but if I stay a full two nights i guess i will have to see other things, beaches, etc., but i am not seeking this to be fun or relaxing.
- Is there a clear way to see the roofs and drainage as a tourist?
- Is this better in some months?
- Besides hotel and food cost$$$ are their hidden fees in some or all months that are required but not obvious I should anticipate?

Contemplating Bermuda Big 4 Tax Manager Role
Hi everyone,
I'm currently a Tax Manager with a Big 4 firm in the Caribbean and have accepted an offer to join a Big 4 firm in Bermuda as a Tax Manager. The offer is around US$135k plus relocation and other benefits (excluding housing allowance).
At the same time, my current firm has presented a compelling retention package, including a fast-tracked promotion to Senior Manager, a retention bonus, a significant increase in salary and what appears to be a genuine leadership path within the short term.
My long-term goal is to position myself for leadership opportunities within the global Big 4 network, potentially in North America or another larger market.
For those with experience with such a move to Bermuda Big 4, I would appreciate your advice as well as feedback on:
Is Bermuda tax experience generally viewed favorably by larger member firms?
How long does it take to progress from Manager to SM as an internal expat who performs well?
Which path do you think offers stronger long-term global mobility and career progression?
If you were in my position, which option would you choose and why?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has worked in Bermuda or has experience moving between Big 4 offices internationally. Thanks!

royalgazette.comHealthcare on the island
Was in Bermuda today (and tomorrow) and tried to see a doc at an urgent care to get a rapid strep throat test. I went to a place on Burnaby St in Hamilton, they sent me to another place on Wesley, and eventually they said they only had walk-ins for a short time in the afternoon. I was encouraged to go to the hospital
How anyone gets medical care on this island, it’s kinda wild lol. For a country with a lot of “rich retirees” the healthcare sector didn’t seem very accommodating. I finally tried to circumvent the whole system and just straight up ask a pharmacist for amoxicillin and ofc that didn’t work, but he was nice enough to suggest some over the counter methods.
Is this typical on Bermuda?
Loved my vacation time in Bermuda- a few thoughts/questions?
Hello everyone. Recently returned from a 5 day stay in Hamilton Bermuda. Had a great time checked out all the public beaches/coves/caves etc.
Ironically i actually do work in the insurance industry but wasn’t on the island for work, just leisure.
A few questions… why do the citizens not petition the government to raise the 0% tax for corporations? Give the people better healthcare and fund public projects.
Where does funding come for public projects with 0% income tax? Ie, the bus/ferry system?
Why are the citizens not more united to push for at least corporate taxes of a few percent? Think about all the insurance companies that use Bermuda as a tax shelter. Why do you get to come to bermuda to avoid taxes?
Also another thought on taxes. I understand the cost of living is astronomically expensive… that being said… you don’t pay ANY income tax! None… so essentially a $100,000 salary in Bermuda you keep 100% in the US if you make $100,000 you pay taxes which comes to about $20,000 a year.
So I mean i understand the island is expensive but you’re also literally paying no taxes? Maybe raising taxes will help better the society as a whole.
Otherwise I loved the island. The people are really wonderful and super nice. Everyone greets each other getting on and off the bus.
I will be returning i had a great time.
Edit:
Also is tourism at an all time low or something? I felt like most days we had all the beaches to ourselves. It was really peaceful.
Has the tourist industry been better in bermuda?
Question about the Shorelink transit app
I downloaded the app and created an account for my upcoming trip but every time I try to add my credit card, I keep getting this error message. When I click the link to contact them it's a form that has more to do with bus or ferry issues than the app itself and gives a customer service phone number, but I don't have international on my phone.
Has anyone had this problem before? 🙏
USD to GBP
I have a HSBC Bermuda USD account and im trying to send money back to the UK (I dont have a UK HSBC account). What's the best/most cost efficient way to do this?
I have a USD revolut account but think it would take c5days for each transfer. Is there a better option people use?
Someone mentioned WISE but it looks like it may be the same length of time to transfer with them.
Any recommendations would be great!
Job Offer Letter
I recently applied for a government job in Bermuda. I got an email stating I was successful in the interview, and that there were a few documents I needed to submit in order for them to be "in a position to present me with a job offer letter." Since I am from a visa-controlled country, one of these documents was proof of holding a valid multi entry visa from the US, UK or Canada.
So I immediately start compiling my paperwork and filling out my visa application. I request from HR a proper document that attests to my need for the visa. Instead of providing that, HR sends a generic document with a link to their immigration website. According to them, I must have the visa before an offer letter is provided. It goes without saying that the visa is denied.
I go back to HR to update them on the situation, sending maybe 3 emails over the span of a week. No response. So I decide to call them. HR shifts the blame on the employer, and says they are to provide the offer letter. So, I contact the employer. The employer shifts responsibility to HR. At this point, I'm wondering whether it is worth it to proceed, because without the offer letter, the visa won't be granted, and as per the initial indication, without the visa, the job offer won't be provided.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Director-Level Actuary in Bermuda – Is it realistic for a family of 6?
Hi everyone,
We're from the UK and have four children (currently aged 2, 7, 10 and 12). My husband is an Actuarial Director, and we're interested in relocating to Bermuda.
I know it's incredibly expensive, and we'd need to pay for private school, so I'd love to hear from people who actually live there—especially anyone working in insurance or reinsurance, or anyone raising a family.
I've read that some companies offer good relocation packages, including help with private school fees, accommodation and other family benefits. Is that generally true?
We're not expecting to live an extravagant lifestyle—we'd just like to know whether it's realistic for a family of six to live comfortably.
We're also trying to think beyond the finances. We'd love to hear what family life is really like in Bermuda. Is it a good place to raise children? Are there plenty of activities, and did you find it easy to build a community?
Finally, if anyone has made a similar move from the UK or Ireland (especially with a larger family), I'd be especially grateful to hear about your experience.
Thanks so much!!
Is this enough money to live comfortably in Bermuda?
So I’ve naturally heard from this sub and general research that Bermuda is crazy expensive, I’ve been given a job offer paying 200k. I have a spouse and 2 kids. Do you think this is enough to live comfortably or would we struggle?
