Sergio Martinez started boxing at 20 years old🤯

This is actually an insane feat that I never heard about until now ( I’ve only been watching boxing for a few years) but this is really crazy and inspiring. Usually the boxers who start late and have success are heavyweights, but Sergio wasn’t a heavyweight. For those who are very familiar with him, how athletically gifted was he? How was his boxing IQ? What were his strengths and weaknesses?

Can a boxing punch machine help with timing and reaction in sparring?

I have been training boxing consistently for a few months at a local gym. And I am trying to improve timing reaction speed and punch selection before moving into harder sparring rounds My coach has me doing the usual mix of bag work pad work and light sparring. Although I still find that I struggle when the pace changes suddenly or when I have to react without thinking Recently I tried a boxing punch machine at a nearby gym that tracks punch speed force and combo accuracy and gives you a score after each round. It felt useful for measuring output and keeping me honest about pace and form. But I am not sure if it actually helps with real ring timing under pressure or if it just improves performance in a controlled setting I have also seen similar training machines online and was curious if anyone has experience using them as part of home training. Andd whether they actually carry over into sparring or if they mostly just stay useful for feedback and conditioning. For anyone here who has used a boxing punch machine in training did it actually help your timing in sparring or was it more of a conditioning tool in your experience?
