I was trying to get a spot on Hicks this morning for alternate side parking. Went to move the car at 730am for the 8am ast parking on hicks. Everything was already taken. Should I be waking up early at like 5 or 6 am to move my car for ast? Does anyone move their car at 11pm the night before?

Thanks for any advice here. The parking around here is always so difficult.

I’m new to Montague street (been living in Brooklyn heights for 3 years) and have been getting horrible sleep since moving in. Trash/recycle trucks don’t just come and collect trash once throughout the night—they come every hour. It starts at 10pm, then I get woken up at 12am, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am, and then finally 6:30 am when I say screw it and just get up for the day.

Anyone else experiencing this? I hate complaining but this lack of sleep is really impacting me

Hey all - 35M here, looking to get back into playing soccer after a few years away.
I’ve played casually with friends growing up back in the motherland (Italy), but never competitively, and I’m definitely a little rusty at this point 😅. I’m looking for casual pickup games on weekends and/or occasional weekday evenings.
More than anything, I’d love to find a regular group to play with and hopefully build a bit of a community here.
If anyone knows of a regular pickup group, league, WhatsApp group, or just a group that could use another player, I’d love to join.

Long shot: my family and I are shooting for a Legends of the Hidden Temple family Halloween costume. We'd love to complete the look by all having yellow or gold helmets, but I can only find them for ~$50 new and that's a bit out of our budget.

Has anyone already done this tried and true group costume and have an extra set of yellow or gold helmets I could buy or borrow? Or, does anyone just happen to have a set of helmets (ones that could even be spray painted gold...?) for any other reason?

I’ve tried a few salons but nothing has really stood out to me. Was wondering if anyone had a salon or tech they recommend in the area!!

Your nanny threatened to run over my dog this morning with your stroller & your baby in the stroller. No, I am not kidding or exaggerating. There are witnesses.

She said she would run over my dog WITH your child in the stroller.

We were outside my home. I moved him so she had plenty of room to pass by, everyone did - nobody else who went by either walking or with strollers complained. There was plenty of room for anyone to go by.

She stood there pretending there was no room for her to go by but I said there’s plenty of room when made her angry, very hostile, aggressive, yelling at me and threatening me in my own home with your child in the stroller. I tried to calm her down and speak with her like an adult, but she got more & more aggressive yelling at me for my dog sitting outside our building and then said next time she doesn’t care and she doesn’t care that I live here she’ll run him over with your stroller with your child still in it.

She is wearing jeans, a light blue button down blouse long sleeve it’s a little flowy. Light brown sunglasses. Short bob cut blonde-ish dyed hair. She has an accent. Light brown skin. I will not give public details about your child for it’s own safety but I know what your stroller & child look like, too.

If this is your Nanny I first of all fear for your child’s safety, as well as the safety of the neighborhood. She is an overly aggressive person who snaps at the smallest thing. I’m also now scared of her making good on her threat to attack me & my dog at my own home.

CEO and VP of MVM (tl;dr: over 1.2 billion in ICE contracts last year, including 400 million to detain and deport unaccompanied minors) bought the abandoned townhouse at 149 Columbus Heights. They also bought a property in GP. How do we make it clear to them that they are not welcome in our neighborhood? They’re the third biggest ICE contractor in the country (the first two are private prisons), they don’t belong in our neighborhood or even our borough. Ideas? Any community organizers in the chat?
