hello ! is there any chance at all of getting grants (not loans) from an Ivy League uni if your family income is over $400,000? even if you have several other (younger) children? is it ultimately the case that no matter what else you own, even if nothing, making that much $ disqualifies you from any (non loan) aid at ivies? my child is starting at an Ivy in a month and I am daunted by the payment I must make this week.

only mentioning that it’s an ivy bc they seem to have their own aid rules.

Is a schedule with 2-credit BFS seminar, a critical writing seminar, and a freshman seminar too much writing/seminaring? is this manageable?

Are people getting hundreds on this? my kid thought they got a 100 but only got a 93 and is surprised. Is it marked very harshly?

my daughter is very needle phobic. she fainted when her blood was being drawn. when she was unconscious, her eyes rolled back and she sort of grit her teeth. it was very brief, less than a minute. is this normal with syncope?

it was terrifying to watch as a parent.

ok it’s almost deadline time for housing apps! if you lived in kings court English house or Stouffer bc you wanted to avoid the party scene at the Quad, were you happy? did you find your friends or community at KCEH or Stouffer? really agonizing with the rankings.

is it stupid to choose this if you don’t plan to pursue STEM in college? how many classes of honors are there vs regular? how hard is it?

Anyone lived in Stouffer last couple of years? what’s the social scene like? do the staff and resident faculty and advisors encourage socializing?

How is the social life for BFS freshmen living in Hill? would it be easier for a quiet shy nerd (just being real here) to make friends in a single living in Hill with other BFS people, or in a quieter dorm like Gregory, but in a suite?

Was it a mistake to apply to UPenn early decision? 95 average (4.0) at famous magnet school, 36 ACT, despite chronic health condition. Volunteering for performing arts organization, performing for older people; leader in school organization (also performing arts), summer jobs at day camp, essay about that.

Feeling like an ass for self-limiting choices.

ETA; got in and money situation works. Yes like UPenn but like… now wishing there was a choice.
