my headcanon that the french girl that’s talking about philosophy/reality with is oklou

i feel there’s threads that make sense other than oklou being a french artist. the underscores / pc music connection ofc. im being parasocial so half joking but… love them both so that’s where my mind went (but in reality it prob just a random french girl lol)

listening to crash and twice is the bubblegum version of no one lasts forever

she takes it one step further though w david cronenberg to talk about the aura of the work of art and the impermanence of the artist and push back on the biographical approach to art criticism and the bad girl image that people put on her via the persona that emerges on brat -“that I put the drugs in my veins” she’s saying no the work is what matters and the persona in that work can be sincere ironic playful bratty etc. but that’s part of the work itself - also love that they’re both album closers with the same overarching theme.

I used to think there was a moment in the song where she would sing “But I’m gonna love you forever”

But there isn’t, and that’s a good thing

I got a little surprise with my signed vinyl!

Who else is loving this album & the post cards?! At first I was worried that I was missing one & that they had accidentally sent two of the same instead of whatever else was supposed to be in there but I was pleasantly surprised when they told me it was just an extra & to just keep it!!! Something similar happened when I ordered A$AP Rocky don’t be dumb merch, I got on an extra cassette because they sent the wrong one & one of the sold out shirts came slightly damaged so they didn’t make me send anything back and sent me another cassette & a shirt that wasn’t even on the website anymore. I’m going through a brutal divorce right now (domestic violence) and I swear the universe knew I needed a little something to keep my spirits up!!! Anyone else get an extra postcard or anything?!

the concept of this being one of her most “mainstream” albums…she was truly bound to be an experimental legend from the start

currently listening to True Romance intensively and it’s so incredibly produced and composed for a “pop” album, literally worlds apart from everything else that came out during that time and her later albums kept only going to even higher highs

like many I became a fan in 2024 with brat, and since then listen to her entire discography passionately…it’s so impressive to me how even her most straightforward releases have so much thought and intricacy behind them

3am(pull up) is a perfect pop song

There's a few songs from the 2010s id call perfect pop songs. Endlessly infections, communicative, and just overall entertaining

Into you - Ariana Grande

New Romantics - Taylor Swift

Really dont Care - Demi Lavato

3am(pull up) - Charli XCX

I wish I could include G.U.Y. by lady gaga but that opening with the spoken word really drags it down.
