I see a lot of negative posts around cashback and credit card, but I don't get it. I'm probably missing something, so can anyone let me know what's a better option then?
In my case, I don't want to faff around switching suppliers every now and then. I don't mind having multiple credit cards and bank accounts, but not switching them too regularly.
I use chase credit card for fuel, train, public transport and eating out, which gives about 2% return. I use employee perks most of the time, for groceries as that gives better discounts (4-8% depending on outlet), and purchase that usingavios credit card (Barclays; equivalent to ~1% cashback if you use it for flights or nectar at Sainsbury's).
Savings: I just maintain low balance in current accounts and dump the rest in index funds + money market funds, which gives better returns than any savings account long term (bar regular savers, but usually they're temporary promotional ones, which again is a faff to switch).
Is there any other card that gives better cashback + the benefit of zero fees abroad? I have amex platinum everyday cashback, but post the 5% cashback during temporary sign on period, it's much lower cashback. I'm aware of Santander, but that's only a 1 year promotion, no? (Same for most other ones that come close).
I feel like this is actually a great offer, but understated because we had expectations of it being better and the initial no strings attached 1% cashback was great, but I think I'll actually earn more cashback this way. Why the hate?

Hey all, I've been in the UK for about 15 months now and I'm looking to get a Chase credit card. I'm already really happy with my current bank, so I have absolutely no interest in opening a Chase current account.
Does anyone know if Chase lets you just apply for the credit card on its own? Also, is my short 15-month credit history going to be an issue for approval?
Cheers!
Update 3/7/2026
I applied for a Natwest balance transfer card and the
Transfer went through with no issues.
Been trying to do the balance transfer to Lloyds credit card, but it fails. Been logged out from the baking app guessing they think it’s fraud.
Any suggestions? Shall I try directly with Natwest?
It’s been about a month since Chase rolled out the 2% cashback, so I’m curious how everyone else is finding it. I’ve been using it normally and ended up with £19.97 cashback this month, which was a pleasant surprise.

When I try to use Chase to buy something using apple pay for something over £200 the loading icon for apple pay just spins for like a minute before it says transaction not completed. I always have to use raw card details. Anyone else experiencing this?
I have made it through the first round of the Exploratory interview for the above role and now I have been invited for the case study for the same. The team is yet to send me the case study I need to work on, however, this is what they said they would require the candidate to prep, "
Can anyone give me an idea on anything specific I should be focusing on when preparing for their case study round to stand out? How long should the presentation be, like how many slides for an hour interview in total?
Any tips would be very grateful! Please help. #JPMC #JPMCLondon
Now that Chase has launched its credit card with 2% cashback on selected spending categories, is it now the better cashback card than Lloyds?
For those who've looked into both or use either, which would you choose and why? Am I missing any major pros or cons of either card?

If you struggled with the heatwave this week, just a reminder that JP Morgan is again the world’s leading financier of fossil fuels, according to the annual Banking on Climate Chaos report, after pushing $58bn to the sector last year – up 13% from 2024.
Opened a chase account as a first time customer, created an account and got to the main login screen. First "niggle" i experienced was I was unable to set a PIN. It prompted me, i tried a PIN and it said error. Fine, no big deal, I wasn't sure if I'd recieve a card with a default pin and I could try later.
I then go to create a saving account (the only reason I wanted to move to chase was for the boosted pot). Open an account, no option for boosted saver. Open the account anyway to see if it would apply retrospectively, nothing.
Contact customer support, explain my situation with the PIN and no access to a boosted saver, despite their deal. Lot of back and forth with sending screenshots, eventually the advice was they will see if any other onboarding customers are experiencing the same issue, recommended to uninstall the app and ensure I am on the wifi.
I informed them I am indeed on Wifi, not mobile data, accepted they can contact me tomorrow, and reinstalled the app. I tried to log in again with the app reinstalled, and now if I try to login, it just gives me an error, so I can't even get into my account.
If this is the onboarding experience for a brand new customer, absolutely shocking. Never had such a friction filled experience for what should be a fairly simple app. Not sure if this is the norm or if others experience issues like this frequently?
EDIT Spoke to customer support on the phone, they seem confused to my issue and said on the backend they are experiencing issues. Perhaps unlucky, or perhaps been fobbed off onto someone elses problem tomorrow. Time will tell.
