My SPARK got flooded.... :(

I was visiting Geoje Island in South Korea to see my mother, enjoying the beautiful weather and some great food.

Unfortunately, my timing couldn't have been worse. The typhoon that had previously hit Japan and China had already dissipated, but its aftermath remained. Starting on the 16th, extremely heavy rain began pouring down across Geoje, the neighboring city of Tongyeong, and Busan.

This wasn't just a lot of rain—it was reportedly the worst rainfall in 200 years.

My mother's apartment is located halfway up a mountain, so flooding was never supposed to be a concern. The problem was that the apartment complex's drainage system had been neglected, and the drains became clogged.

As a result, the parking area directly in front of my mother's building was the only part of the apartment complex that flooded. Around five or six cars, including mine, suffered flood damage.

My car was perfectly fine the night before. When I woke up the next morning, it was sitting underwater...

2013 Chevy spark - worth it?

Currently looking into cars. I got offered $2,500 for a 2013 Chevy Spark. It has 107,000 km / 105,633 miles on it.
Is it worth it in terms of, will it still be reliable etc. ?

Repair cost.

2017 chevy Spark LT 1.4L

Had some shaking at higher speeds and brought it in to get looked at. Was told the front struts and mounts as well as the rear shocks need replaced. Was quoted $1500 for parts and labor, is this a fair price? Was planning on ordering the parts on my own to save money, what would be a fair quote for the labor on a job like this?

Curious; what's your age?

Wondering if Spark owners tend to lean younger since it's a tiny, fun car. I may be the exception, buying my first at age 67! But I'm very petite as well as frugal and practical, and it fits me. This is the first time I haven't had to sit on a "booster" to drive!

When you see another Chevy spark on the road do you ever acknowledge it?

I always do. Lots of times, I like to say to myself in my head “there goes spark!” I also like to tell myself how pretty and small the car is and how many colors it comes in. Yesterday across the road, there was a Nitro Yellow one. I told myself how cute it was. I really love it when I see that mystic blue one on the road! I always find it funny that when I see another spark on the road and see how small it is compared to the cars around it.

2014 Spark 1.2L Issues?

Hello all,

I bought a 2014 Chevy Spark two years ago.
Since then, I have had no issues with it other than the coolant being the wrong color and the front suspension system (I live in southern USA we have terrible roads lol) Are there any issues I should be aware of? She has 124,000 miles on her with an automatic transmission.

Locked Radio on 2015

Hi! I just purchased a used 2015 Chevy spark. It has a locked radio, as the previous owner had just replaced it (the original died) and told me it auto locks as a type of theft prevention. I want to add that the previous owner was a mechanic and I’m confident in the install. Is there a way for me to unlock it without taking it to the dealership?

Spark Not Starting

My 2019 Spark isn’t starting this morning. When I turn the key there is no noise, the dash does light up and the air conditioner turns on.

I tried to jump it twice with no luck, and also looked at fuses (not burnt out) and tried shifting from park to drive/neutral back to park but nothing is working.

I am thinking that there is an issue with the battery or the starter motor. I’m looking for any advice from folks who have had similar problems or who have tried to change the starter themselves.

Thank you! In Sparks We Trust

EDIT:
There is one click when I turn my key but the engine doesn’t turn over. Also the dash lights don’t come on, only an engine light.

EDIT 2:
I have very exciting news! First thank you all for the amazing help and suggestions! I ran a few tests: I tried to turn my headlights on and they didn’t turn on, when I turned my key the dome light flickered off.

After testing my battery with a multimeter (which read 7.6 volts when it should be 12.6 volts), I went and bought a new battery for my car and it started! I was able to drive it around and even got my oil changed out of an abundance of car fixing caution. Turns out you cannot have the same battery for 7 years and bank 54k miles. Who would have thought?

The silver bullet/pink mobile is back up and running! Photos of her in the comments 🩷

Used 2020 Chevrolet Spark LT for beginner driver?

Clean title and 87k miles. I want something reliable and inexpensive. I heard good things about this car, but not too much good about its reliability for commuters. I need something that can drive for long distances, as I'm a college student who commutes a lot from home. Would you recommend?

2019 Spark’s radio is slowly becoming unusable (CarPlay and AA)

I’ve had my spark for just over five years now and it was such a great daily driver for most of that time… but over the course of the last year or so the infotainment center has become nearly unusable.

First I’d have to just unplug and replug my phone in every once in a while, not a big deal. Then it started happening more and more often… then my friend was entirely unable to get Android Auto to start up. When I plugged my phone in after him, CarPlay wouldn’t launch either.

I figured it was probably the cable, so I grabbed another one from my house…. No change. I ordered a brand new cable… and it’s barely working.

Every single day I have to fight with it to get CarPlay to launch. Most days I just settle for Bluetooth. But, I don’t have a phone mount for the car - why would I need one when I’ve got a CarPlay radio, right? … 💀

Now, on top of the 5% chance to launch CarPlay for maybe 10 minutes… Siri doesn’t work anymore. Voice controls literally do nothing or worse than nothing. Tried to reply to a text, Siri started calling a former boss that I haven’t spoken to in a decade (I didn’t say anything even remotely sounding like “call” or his name). It’s done this 5 times now, calling random people instead of doing anything that I actually asked it to.

I’m at my wits end. It’s not a huge deal when I’m driving around town, but I was trying to visit a friend today and whoops! Halfway there, on the highway… poof. Gone, didn’t come back at all.

Please tell me someone knows what the fuck is going on because I am genuinely going to lose it here soon 😭😭😭

Car Camping

As others have noted, even with the rear seat popped out, the back doesn't lie completely flat. I didn't have this problem with my 2008 Toyota Yaris, even with the seat still in place, so seems like a bad design here. I used to actually sleep on the back seat of my former car, as I'm small, but the Spark has that weird, hard cupholder (another bad idea) in the middle of it, making that impossible. What have others done to car camp in this vehicle? I would dread removing the entire seat - where to put it??? - and laying down a wood platform, but that seems to be the only way to do it.
