Moved to Chicago not too long ago and realized I need to actually make some friends outside of work/family life lol. I’m 29, pretty laid back, into grabbing drinks, trying restaurants, sports, exploring the city, random conversations, and generally getting out of the house.
Would be cool to meet some people around my age who are down to grab a beer, catch a game, hit a bar, get food, or just bullshit and see if we click. Guys or girls, doesn’t matter. Not looking for anything weird, literally just trying to build a solid friend group in Chicago.
I’m on the Northwest Side but I’m down to go pretty much anywhere in the city.

I’ve been in rogers park for a little while and it seems hard for me to connect with ppl outside of playing basketball at the beach . I’m black with locs so a lot of ppl seem intimidated. About me: I finished my PhD in May, moved here last week to start my career as a professor. I’ve been in college and moving around since I was 18 and I just turned 27, so I’m excited to pick up new hobbies and put down roots for the first time as an adult. Chicago is home 🥹 I’m painfully extroverted but I thought I’d make a post on here since I’ve been known to adopt introverts lol and you never know who you’ll meet where.

Things I love doing:
- watching sports!!!!! Both live and on TV (favorites are rugby, baseball, football, and hockey)
- live music (I live small/indie/underground venues, I used to work at one in New Orleans and so I have a soft spot for these types of shows but I’ll go see any artist in any genre in any setting)
- trying new bars and restaurants especially small plates type places and cocktail bars (but I also love me a sports bar or a dive, not a huge drinker but I absolutely love the social aspect)
- watching movies and going to movie theaters
- hot girl walks
- playing Pokemon Go
- meeting new people and going on side quests and just collecting memories and experiences and getting to know as many people as possible.

Some things I want to do/try:
- yoga, Pilates, rock climbing (basically trying to get more into anything active that isn’t a contact sport, even better if it’s outdoors)
- explore the city both touristy things and hidden gems because I know nothing lol
- get more into / better at cooking
- honestly add literally anything to this list because I’ll try most things once!
- I just signed up for a 5 week Skee-ball league at Sluggers for singles starting in September so that should be fun. Anything like that I’m game, I’m super easy going and again will try most things once.

I’m primarily looking for girl friends but also I am single and quite a catch (shameless plug)

I’m a 28 year old female, married, and moved to Chicago almost two years ago. I hardly have friends here and I think I’m finally realizing how much I miss having my own girl friends.
I usually hang out with my husband and his two friends. They’re nice people and I do hang out with them maybe once or twice a month but I just don’t feel like we are on the same wavelength. Otherwise I mostly spend time with my husband which I do love but I think it’s also really nice to have your own girlfriends.
I was in Atlanta before Chicago and I went to school there. That’s where I had my best friends and life was honestly so much more happening. After moving here it was such a switch because I basically didn’t know anyone.
I miss having girls to randomly text, go get coffee with, go for walks, try new places, try something new, talk about life or just hang out without having to plan everything weeks in advance 😂
A little about me, I work full time as a data engineer. I’m Indian/South Asian. I like working out and I go to boxing classes. I LOVE going on walks and that’s probably my favorite thing about summers in Chicago. I live right downtown across from a park so I go for walks almost every day unless it’s raining.
I’ve also recently started watching a lot of stand up comedy and I’m kinda getting into it. I love music too and mostly listen to house and techno.

Runners High Chicago was established in June 2022 as a 420-centric run community. We meet every Saturday at 9 AM and explore different neighborhoods and routes throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

Over the past few years, our community has grown through weekly runs, events, conversations, and community-building around running, wellness, and cannabis culture. We’ve been fortunate to be featured in the Chicago Tribune, South Side Weekly, High Times, and Women’s Health Magazine.

We’ve also hosted conversations around cannabis and wellness, including a panel with former NFL player Ricky Williams, where he shared his journey and relationship with cannabis.

Outside of our weekly runs, we set up cheer zones at major races, including the Chicago Marathon and Half Marathon, to support and encourage our runners along the course.

I was involved in theater in college and always wanted to try improv, but unfortunately it never really happened. I’ve been interested in it ever since and would love to finally give it a shot!

I’d love to finally give it a shot and meet some people who are into it too! If anyone knows of free/cheap improv nights, beginner-friendly events, open jams, or places where you can try it out, I’d love some recommendations.

Even if you’re already into improv and just looking for someone to go to events with, I’d be down! Would be cool to make some new improv friends around Chicago.

I’m not exactly the quintessential mother type though I absolutely love being a mom and my daughter is the love of my life. So it makes sense why I’ve been having trouble making close mom friends. I have mom “friends” who we get together and our babies play with each other but it feels very forced. And that’s okay, those friendships are important and my daughter has a lot of fun, so all good.

However, now that my daughter is less baby and more toddler, almost 19 mo, I’ve chilled out a bit with my postpartum anxiety, like I was really really anxious. Now I’m looking to make mom friends that I vibe with more. My daughter is likely going to be my only so I’d love for her to also have “family friends” like people with kids who we go on vacations with, like a best friend for her at least until they get to the point where friendship is more of a personal decision vs someone who will give me back the ball when they take it from me haha. I know this is a long shot and I’m not expecting that from a Reddit post

So a little about me. I work 9-5 though my job is reasonably flexible and her dad is the sahp. We have a courteous relationship but really we aren’t very coupley anymore (which I’m ok with) but kinda hard to make couple friends or explain to new mom friends that ehhh don’t really feel the relationship anymore but staying for the time being. But then I can’t really make close friendships without being honest.

A little more about me… I am the type of mom that does not care or get embarrassed if my daughter tantrums in public or acts weird. I mean now can I expect her, a toddler, to be normal when I, an adult, have been called a “strange bird” more than once.
And more details to note - I apparently have ADHD, I like solidcore and running. I go out to bars no more than twice a month, maaaybe 3, and when I do I enjoy drinking. Otherwise I’m a teetolater. I have pretty simple hobbies. I like shopping, tennis, going to the spa, eating, watching trash tv.
