So, we have a little chipmunk that comes by our backyard shed every other day, and I leave peanuts out for him, sometimes!
As I was making my breakfast, I looked out the window and I saw him! But, I was unsure on what it was, until my mother pointed it out... it looks a lot like rat poison.
We did have a rat problem, but our landlords used humane traps, no poison, and I don't know where this little guy could've gotten any. ):
I'm unsure on if it is poison, since I've never really seen it firsthand before (as I've never really seen rats, either), and I'm really hoping it isn't.
What would you guys say it is, based off of this picture alone???
In honor of the little guy out back that has slowly been getting more comfortable with us and starting to eat from our hands! Artist IG @fauna_flora_
Chipetta (if I’m correct and this is her) has been around for years. I’ve never attempted to friend her besides calling her when I put out seed.
My two chipmunk friends out front of my house that I hand feed haven’t been seen so far this year :(
I think this is an eastern chipmunk. I photographed it in eastern Canada a few days ago.
Not leaving until these cheeks are FULL!
I found this guy on the side of the road last night, i think he got hit by a car, he couldn’t move his legs much, i kept him overnight and gave him food and water. any suggestions on what to do now?
I had to do a lot of yard work on my backyard recently as I had left it alone for way too long due to being overwhelmed in other parts of life. During one of my cleanups I realized way too late I had likely destroyed a chipmunk’s home when three chipmunks and I jumpscared the shit out of each other. If I had known it was their home I would’ve left it alone for as long as I could, but it’s way too late for that now.
I feel so bad I was wondering if there was a way to make a habitat for them in my yard so they have another home if they need it. Somewhat manmade is a little preferred so I don’t have to continue to do yard work on their home and leave it as undisturbed as possible.
My strawberry patch is producing DELICIOUS strawberries---if I get to pick them! Chipmunks (presumably) are eating some.....and to make it worse they are taking a bite and then leaving the half-eaten berry on the post! 🤪
Ideas to keep them away? I have raised garden beds and it is fenced with mesh wire throughout. The fencing is also dug approximately 1 foot underground with mesh wire underneath as well, but obviously they are getting in.
I think I'm more mad that they are throwing it in my face by leaving the half-eaten berry for me to find! 😂😂
Lil guy decided he wanted to be part of the photos. How could I say no?🥹🐿❤️
