🤫 Mellie’s Secret Burrow: Shh… Don’t Tell Anyone! 🐿️

https://youtu.be/BRCMRdf6hCE 🤫 SHHH… THIS IS TOP SECRET! 🐿️

Mellie the chipmunk has a secret hiding place underneath the white pond rocks and she’s VERY careful about who finds it!

In this video, Mellie repeatedly runs in and out of her hidden burrow entrance like a tiny underground spy. 🕵️‍♀️🐿️

But there’s a reason she keeps this place secret. Last year, her old burrow was infiltrated by a large rat named Jimmy. 😳 And this year, some of the squirrels started poking around her new home too!

So now Mellie has one rule: keep the burrow hidden!

I turned her secret hideout adventure into a fun hip-hop rap about protecting her underground headquarters. 🎤🎶

Watch closely… you might spot Mellie disappearing into her secret entrance!

But remember… what happens in the burrow stays in the burrow.

🤫 Shh… don’t tell anyone!https://youtu.be/BRCMRdf6hCE

Will my furry ground squirrel friend like cherries?

Our resident backyard ground squirrel, Mellie, had a major milestone today! I put out some chopped cherries for her to try for the very first time, and it was instant love. Watch her tiny paws grab the pieces and get straight to snacking! (Friendly reminder: Always remove the pits and chop cherries before feeding them to wild chipmunks so they are safe to eat!)

Male Squirrel Held His Ground Against a Snake!

My squirrel was chilling on the patio chair when a big black snake rolled up and tried a tiny “boo!” lunge. Instead of running, the squirrel stared him down like, “Sir, I was sitting here first.”

They basically had a full-on staring contest.

Three Months of Failure… Until Today: Squirrels Breach Chippy’s Café!

After three months of trying and failing, the squirrels finally managed to break into Chippy’s Seed Café, a caged feeder designed to give chipmunks a fair chance at breakfast.

For weeks it sat safely on a patio chair… until today.

A determined squirrel pulled and tugged until the café slid to the very edge. One last cling, one last wobble and both squirrel and café toppled off the chair.

The squirrel was totally fine.

The café… not so much.

It hit the ground sideways, bounced, rolled toward the camera, and exploded into a glorious sunflower‑seed avalanche. Within seconds, multiple squirrels rushed in and turned the spill into an all‑you‑can‑eat buffet.

And then Mellie appeared.

She climbed onto the patio chair where her café used to be, looked down at the wreckage, and stared with the most disappointed, betrayed chipmunk face you’ll ever see.

The squirrels feasted.

Mellie fumed.

This is the full story of the day Chippy’s Seed Café finally fell.

Is Cuttlefish Good for Squirrels?

I offered my squirrels a bowl of cuttlefish calcium, basically the squirrel version of a weird mystery snack and their reactions were priceless.

Sheba Risked My Stinky Feet for a Hazelnut! 🐿️😂

🐿️ Sheba the squirrel has faced many challenges... but today she takes on her toughest one yet: my stinky socks! 😂

Sheba climbs up onto the patio chair looking for her favorite treats. A pile of seeds and nuts is waiting for her, but there is one small problem... they are right next to my feet! 🧦🐿️

Does the smell scare her away? Not a chance! A hungry squirrel will do almost anything for a tasty snack. After enjoying her treats, Sheba heads back down to the ground where she gets an extra surprise, a hazelnut in the shell!

Watch Sheba grab her prize and make her way home across the fence. Another funny backyard adventure with one of my favorite squirrels!

Sharing Is Caring: Squirrel & Chippy Enjoy a Peaceful Breakfast

A gentle morning moment in the backyard as a squirrel and a chipmunk enjoy their own little bowls side‑by‑side. No chasing, no drama, just two tiny neighbors sharing space and starting their day calmly. Perfect for anyone who loves quiet wildlife moments.

Do birds eat / need excess Calcium?

I broke a cuttlebone into pieces and put them out in a bowl for my squirrels, but the birds seemed to really enjoy them.

Her Tail Was Almost Gone… But She Refused to Give Up

The true story of Wisp, one of Sheba’s daughters who was born with almost no fur on her tail. All winter I kept an eye on her, trying small things to support her health: a little coconut oil on her food, squirrel vitamins, a deer antler for extra calcium, and an occasional mist of Essential Fatty Acid spray for fur health. I even put out a small pet warming mat and a small electric heater as well during winter storms.

Even though these things made me feel like I was helping, the truth is that squirrels are incredibly resilient. When spring arrived, nature took over, and Wisp’s tail began to regrow beautifully all on its own. Her recovery is a reminder that sometimes the strongest healing comes from the mother nature herself.

Had to Take Down My Bird Feeder… So They Just Ate With Me Instead

Sad for me. Bird Feeders and Bird Baths Prohibited by the "association". They didn't target me directly, but sent it to the thousands of homes around me. I donated them to friends.

This is even better. Instead of me watching my feathered friends from my dining table 10 feet away or from my Ring Camera, I now get to spend time with them outside.

I was relaxing outside on my Zero Gravity chair that I received for Father's Day when I took this video from my iPhone.

My birds enjoy the dried mealworms as much as they do my homemade no mess mixed nut/seed blend.
