Took a trip up to the redwoods in CA. First time using the Aria, so I kind of set it all to AP so I didn't have to try and mess with it while driving. If I could have done something better, let me know! I'll try to post the "bad" ones too, because it would go from one photo being amazing to the next one being terrible. IDK if it was because of the AP mode or just the light metering mode
I had a problem with the exposure counter on my Contax G1.
It went up to 44 frames without rewinding the film.
I was shooting with Portra 400.
This problem worried me, since it’s sometimes possible to get 37, 38, or even 39 exposures on a single roll of film. But I’ve never gotten 44 before.
I know that automatic cameras like the Contax G1 usually have a pressure sensor to detect when the film is running out, or else they know when to rewind thanks to their internal frame counter.
I don’t understand why my Contax didn’t rewind the film sooner. Wouldn’t the camera have prevented me from taking empty shots if the film hadn’t been properly loaded in the first place?
Also I forgot to mention that I ended up using the small button at the bottom of the camera to rewind it. Weirdly it only rewinded until the 25th frame then stopped. Then, I opened the back of the camera and the film was fully rewinded.
Thank you!!
He all - I recently got a mint 35mm f2.8 mmj to use with my RTS ii, and the images have come back looking particularly muddy, even when stopped down. I also got scans back from my Contax T, and the results seemed much better.
Do you think this is a lab scan quality issue, a bad lens copy, or is this just the performance to be expected from this lens?
Two images of Z on our trip to France.
The RTS I have works except that when the shutter speed dial is turned, it doesn't change speeds. It fires at the same speed - which I assume is a default speed when it can't tell what speed it has been set to. Bulb doesn't work either. The contact springs are all touching the PCB contact tracks and they look clean. There is no nasty stuff under the top cover that would make me think there was a problem with corrosion or oxidation. I have a second RTS I bought for parts and to work on before the "good" one. Since there's no documentation regarding troubleshooting this type of issue - or anything besides parts assembly - so I'm stuck. It is unfortunate because it is in great condition except for this one issue. If I had the board layouts and expected metering values, I could see if there's a short or other electrical problem, but I don't see anything to even get to a starting point. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks
obviously I know the camera doesn’t make it all but still I was wondering for people who use the Contax G2 if these results seem attainable ! Thanks :))
