Do you guys bake and freeze your CR? I've heard some sellers say that they freeze CR dough after filling/cutting, and some who bake their rolls, wrap and freeze. I've done both. Currently, I mostly do the freeze filled/shaped rolls.The first time i froze prebaked rolls and defrosted, I didn't like it (don't remember why). Frozen, filled dough is ok, but I feel I get the most consistent shape and perfect proof when not freezing. Yesterday, I found a couple of prebaked rolls in my freezer, so I left them on the counter and later warmed them in microwave and frosted. They were pretty awesome. They were perfectly shaped, so I'm guessing they were a same day fill, proof, bake batch. I could really save myself lots of production time on market day if I could prebake my CR and freeze.
From the book North Carolina Bed & Breakfast Cookbook by Melissa Craven. I adjusted the original recipe to better fit my diet, and it's still sooo delicious. I also added the whipped cream for the white stripes and the raspberries and strawberries for the red stripes for this upcoming Independence Day.
Hey all! I am just starting my bakery and so far I have had a lot of really positive responses to everything I'm doing. Some feedback I have gotten recently is that my menu is pretty limited. I started out small just to see if there was interest but now I'm to the point where i need to start expanding.
I'm just curious, what are some of y'alls best sellers? What doesn't do as well as you had hoped?

I felt like baking today and decided to make one of my most popular goodies: brown butter chocolate chip cookies!
I think I can still make a few tweaks to perfect them. As much as my boyfriend loves them, I think they can be so much better.
Next week, I'll make my rice crispy treats!
I personally use cellophane bags and a heat sealer for most of my goodies. I also print my labels at home using a regular printer and sheets of sticker paper.
Right now, I pack it all in brown take-out container with the foldable top. It was the best thing I could find at restaurant depot. I stick a label on top and call it good.
I'd like to, at some point, change to something cuter. Maybe a purple box or purple paper bag.
What about you guys? How are you packing your goodies?
I just recently started my cottage bakery. Curious how other people are finding their customers and retaining their information.
Are you actively marketing to them? Do you use social media newsletters or text messages?
I’m having the best luck on newsletters and text messages. Curious to see what everybody else is doing.
I’m building foodsaverai, not really an all-in-one bakery platform, more like a tiny daily prep tracker for stuff that goes bad or gets overmade: fillings, dough, creams, fruit, frosting, prepped batches, etc.
The thing i’m trying to solve is that full inventory tools feel like too much, but paper/spreadsheets don’t really remind you what needs to be used first or what you keep wasting.
Would any cottage bakers here actually use something where you track only 5-20 risky items and it gives you a use-first list, prep list, buy-next list, and waste notes?

As a relatively new subreddit, I'm still trying to figure out what's best to help our community grow and become a safe place for cottage bakers to post and scroll.
Right now, I'm noticing a lot of people wanting to advertise websites they've made for cottage bakeries (such as platforms to sell on, tools for calculating product costs, etc.)
I know it's hard for home bakers to find good resources, and I also know it can be off-putting for a sub to be filled with people promoting their websites (whether good or bad).
So, my question for you all is, how do you feel about these posts? What would you prefer happen?
I can restrict self-promo to a certain day of the week.
I could not allow self-promotion at all.
I could also create a megethread for self-promotion and only allow it in there.
What are your thoughts?

Why does Bakesy think its okay to take 3.9% + 30c of every sale, and that is on top of their $17.99/M premium. My home baker best friend always complained to me that the prices were unfair to home bakers, for what the program does.
Full disclosure: I am a computer programmer by trade, so I built my friend a simple tool to do what exactly Bakesy does.. and then some. It has since grown to be used by many home bakers and cooks.
We have since had to start charging money to support development and hosting costs, but its a very modest amount. I want to make this tool the best it can be. Would anyone be willing to just poke around the landing page? I don't want to post the link here incase its against the rules, but you can find it from my profile!

What's missing from the app to make you switch from something like Bakesy or Hotplate?
