A Neighbor's Plea: End Dog Testing at Charles River Labs Now

There are dogs being tested on right now at a facility just 20 minutes from my home in Sterling, Massachusetts.

I started a petition asking Charles River Laboratories' new CEO Birgit Girshick to do something extraordinary: end all dog and cat experiments immediately, and commit the company to phasing out all animal testing by the end of 2026. The science has already moved on. Organ-on-a-chip technology, AI modeling, organoids—these aren't dreams anymore. They're validated, they work better than animal models, and the FDA Modernization Act 2.0 opened the legal door. The only question is whether Charles River will lead or get left behind.

This doesn't have to mean lost jobs. The people caring for research animals today could become the technicians running the most advanced testing platforms on earth. Worcester could become a center for the scientific revolution we're already living in.

But start with the dogs at 55–57 Union Street in Worcester. Adopt them out today. Sever ties with the breeding suppliers. Then carry that model to every Charles River facility worldwide. One leader willing to make history—that's all it takes.

If this resonates, consider signing and sharing.

Thank you, see you on the 30th!

Looking for a CF alternative to specific Cerave cleanser

Hello! I’ve just decided to make the switch moving forward to only buy CF, of course finishing what I have first. I think makeup will be easy as it turns out most of my everyday products already are CF, but skincare might be a struggle because I only use CeraVe. Particularly I love the hydrating foaming facial cleanser, for multiple reasons: 1. It lathers 2. It removes makeup. This makes it so I never have to buy makeup remover or wipes which saves money AND irritation. Does anyone have CF alternatives to that specific product? Also as affordable as possible is definitely important to me as well. Thanks so much

Cruelty free toothpaste

Does anyone have a cruelty free toothpaste recommendation that actually works? I’ve used Toms and Hello peppermint and found that the “clean” feeling in my mouth doesn’t last very long after brushing with them. Looking for a fluoride option. Thank you!

Cruelty free drugstore shampoo/conditioner/leave in for fine hair?

I currently use Dove intensive repair shampoo and conditioner, I've been wanting to throw another shampoo/conditioner into my rotation. I have slightly wavy super fine but dense hair, my ends are really dry but the rest of my hair is really soft and hydrated.

I was considering trying l'oreal dream lengths because my mom gave me the leave in from that line and it was working reasonably well, but I looked it up and realized l'oreal is not cruelty free so I will not be buying another bottle when it runs out.

Primarily im just trying to get the bottom few inches of my hair more hydrated and less dry.

Prior to being given the dream lengths leave in I was using the morrocanoil spray leave in, which was absolutely awesome for my hair but I just cant swing the thirty bucks anymore 🙁

I also use the Dove hair mask and I oil my hair every so often as well, and am buying the Suave daily clarifying shampoo for product/protein buildup.

Cruelty-Free SPF 100 Sunscreen Recommendations Needed

Hello!

For 2026, I have slowly been replacing my personal care products with cruelty-free ones as I run out of them. This has gone quite well, but I've come across my first roadblock; sunscreen. All the cruelty-free options I've seen are SPF 30-50. Unfortunately, the only thing that really works for me is 100 SPF. I am very pale and very sensitive to the sun. I have tried just using 50-70, I am very diligent about applying correctly and reapplying frequently, and I will still develop a serious sunburn. When I used SPF 100 it was genuinely the first time in my life I did not burn. Beyond the long-term health complications seriously burning all the time could cause me, having red, peely skin all summer is just not pleasant.

I'm really hoping there's a fellow vegan Dracula out there that can help this pasty girl out. Please supply any vegan/cruelty-free SPF 100 recommendations here. I know that the percentage difference of sun coverage between the SPFs is statistically negligible, but those last few percentage points do a lot of heavy lifting when you're the shade of wonderbread. Please don't tell me I should just switch to a lower SPF, I would have done that already and saved the time of digging my reddit account out of the gutter.

Thank you!

In what world is a tallow brand cruelty free?

I am seeing popular cosmetic brands claim that their tallow products are cruelty free. I'm sorry but semantics of using an animal vs testing 'on' an animal is BS.

Moisturizers and tinted moisturizers

Looking for a new recommendation similar to Burt’s Bees . I usually use calming day lotion with SPF 30. I honestly love it but not happy with what’s going on with the company. Looking for something on the affordable side as I go through it fast so under $15. For reference I have really sensitive and fair skin . Thanks!

Cruelty-Free Lip Products Recommendations? 💄🐇

🌷Hi everyone! Can somebody suggest me some actually good cruelty-free lip products? 😭

I’m looking for lipsticks, lip balms, lip tints, glosses etc. I really want to start buying more ethically, but it’s honestly so confusing because some brands say they’re cruelty-free and then people say they still test on animals or sell where animal testing is required.

I want products that are genuinely cruelty-free but still good quality and pretty 😭 preferably brands you personally trust or use.

Luxury or affordable, both are okay! Please give recommendations 💗

Italian Cruelty free brands

Hi everyone. As you can tell from the title. I am looking for cruelty free (and hopefully vegan as well). This might be ironic but i was using caudelie’s pink (idk the full name sorry) face wash and i loved the scent and feeling. Unfortunately even though they say they are vegan they sell they products in china so I’m assuming they are not cruelty free. So I’m looking for something that I can use. I am in Italy right now so it might be fun to try some local brands. I wanted to get some opinions and advice on this. Thank you so much in advance everybody!!

edit: I forgot to mention that I found a brand called “senso naturale” and their products look interesting. However some reviewe say that their delivery is very bad. I’d love to hear your opinions about it if you have any!

House Cleaning Products

I am looking for recommendations for house cleaning products that are good and cruelty free. I already use some Mrs Meyers products. But I need a good product for showers/bathroom and product to put in my water while cleaning. I used to use the Lysol Multi Surface cleaning solution to put in my water while cleaning, but now I need something that’s cruelty free that is like that. I’ve also tried the Mrs Meyers vinegar gel spray and it’s good but there’s not a lot in a bottle and it’s pricey. Thanks!

Is this brand cruelty free?

Hey everyone,

I have been looking at this product from Beauty of Joseon and what is good for me or not and my skin type.

Then one question popped in my mind. Is this tested in animals? I have done a little research and some products they use bee venom - I am trying to understand how that actually works.

Can someone please give me a little bit more info?

Thank you!

Need Recommendations

Hey y'all! I need some recommendations for sunscreen and for an oil cleanser.

I recently purchased a Kokie Mascara. I'm loving it but my regular Alba cleanser does nothing for it. I cannot get it off. I think I'm going to need an oil cleanser so remove the product from my lashes.

Secondly, I need a new sunscreen. I was a huge, huge fan of the Bare Republic Clear screen BUT I have been unable to find any. I did see that it was discontinued in some locations. I tried the Blue Lizard 50 Sensitive. It's been a two weeks and although it has been doing well I noticed it needs to be super blended in or else it leaves a white cast AND it also leaves marks all over my car. Jaja.

I live in the US if that helps.

Alternative for Eucerin roughness smoothing cream?

I’ve been using this cream lately, mainly on my legs, and I’ve noticed a major improvement. Recently, though, I decided I want to go fully cruelty-free, so I’m replacing every product that’s tested on animals with a 100% cruelty free alternative.

I’ve seen a lot of people recommend alternatives for extremely dry or very sensitive skin, but what I’m really looking for is a drugstore body cream with a similar ingredient list and the same kind of effect.

Ideally, I want a cream that’s mainly water-based and contains ingredients like lactic acid and ceramide NP to help smooth the skin.

What deodorant actually works for sensitive skin when you are sweating a lot in summer?

When it comes to using natural deodorant its either it irritates my underarms or stops working after 3 hours in the heat. I need something that lasts all day through summer sweating, has a good scent that isnt overpowering and wont give me a rash. It feels like natural deodorants doesn't work for me but regular ones burn my skin

Nizoral alternatives?

Are there any cruelty free and or vegan shampoos like nizoral? or due to the nature of the ingredients is that not currently possible? i'm so desperate it's the only thing that's ever worked and i mean i tried literally everything else for years before i tried nizoral because it's so expensive. would it be vain to repurchase if there are no alternatives? i'd like to think it's medical and not cosmetic because the itching that accompanies dandruff and not just the harmless flakes but im really torn on this and i'd love any suggestions or opinions.
