Cruelty free alternatives for Listerine breath spray?

No gum please! I always carry some with me and use it multiple times a day, but knowing what I now know about their testing policies I need something else 😩 Ideally a tiny spray but if the only alternative is in strip form I will consider as well

Leave Animals Alone!

Using animals for testing, research, and educational purposes is archaic and barbaric!

Science has reached a point where there are many reliable and effective non-animal methods to use.

You can help stop animal testing by:

  1. Buying only cruelty-free and vegan products

  2. Contacting your municipal, provincial, and federal government representatives, demanding they pass laws to demand that animal testing be stopped

  3. Contacting companies demanding that they implement a cruelty-free policy

  4. Supporting organizations that fight against animal testing

  5. Signing petitions and participating in calls to action

  6. Sharing information online

  7. Talking to your friends and family about how unethical, ineffective, and costly animal testing is.

Thank you 🙏

Is there anything better than olaplex?

Are there any bond building products that are better than olaplex for a similar or lower price point?

I bleached my hair a few months back (professionally) and the breakage I'm starting to get is bugging me. It's not crazy but it's more than what I'd like.

Olaplex is kind of pushing the budget and k18 is way out of my price range.

Thanks.

Sensitive Skin Face Wash For Eczema?

I recently decided to become more conscious about who I support with my money and found that CeraVe is not cruelty free/in a grey area....

I have been looking for a good face wash/cleanser for WEEKS and cannot find any that do not make my face break out in eczema. (Mad Hippie, Burt's Bees)

Specifically, the CeraVe hydrating cream to foam cleanser for dry skin works wonders so I am trying to find something similar to that.

any specific products or just brands that might be good for eczema on the face would be SO appreciated !!

I apologize if this has already been posted on this community but I could not find any post about eczema specifically 😓

Makeup Recommendations for 12hr+ shifts?

What makeup would work best for combination, acne-prone, and somewhat sensitive/dehydrated skin?

I work as a veterinary nurse. I recently switched all my makeup to Benefit Cosmetics. At first, I liked it, but I realized that two hours into my shifts, it’s sliding off and you can’t even tell I ever applied makeup by the end of my shift.

I’m hoping to find a recommendation for a cruelty free / vegan makeup line that will last through my long shifts and not irritate my skin too much.

What do you guys think? REM Beauty? Chanel? Dior? MAC? Every time I go into Ulta, I don’t know what to trust.

Thank you so much!

Update to Chewy’s relationship with Marshall Bioresources

I reached out to Chewy’s customer care with my concerns about them selling Marshall Pet Products. For more info here is a link to the post I saw on here: https://www.reddit.com/r/crueltyfree/s/OPzPhAkXIY

(I know the newest comments explained that Chewy no longer sells their products, but I wanted to make a post about it.)

Here is the message the customer support person sent in reply to me, “Thank you so much for reaching out and for sharing your thoughts with us. We truly appreciate you taking the time to let us know how you feel. At Chewy, nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of pets and animals. Chewy is committed to conducting business with honesty and integrity and in compliance with our Code of Conduct and Ethics, policies and procedures, and all applicable laws. We take these concerns very seriously. When appropriate, we exit relationships that are not aligned with our standards. We are aware of these allegations and take these claims very seriously. Marshall Pet Products, Peter's, and Earth Balance items have been removed from Chewy.com and are no longer available for purchase. Thank you again for contacting us and for being a valued member of the Chewy family. Your feedback means a great deal to us.”

Now it’s time to put the pressure on Petco, Petsmart, and other pet stores you find that may sell these products.

Alternatives to Chewy following support of Marshall BioResources?

https://www.wxxinews.org/local-news/2024-08-14/wayne-county-beagle-breeder-draws-protesters-ire-amid-national-push-to-end-animal-testing

https://support.peta.org/page/52989/action/1?locale=en-US

It looks like Chewy, Petco, and Petsmart all buy from Marshall Bioresources which breeds beagles for testing labs. I'm looking for somewhere else to get cat food, litter, and supplements. I've already checked my vet's pharmacy and they don't stock what I need.

Does anyone have any ideas? If anyone has more info on this situation, please put it in the comments. Is there a least evil out of the three?

Update: looks like chewy no longer carries marshalls!

Condoms?

Sorry for the NSFW question but has anyone found cruelty free condoms? This is the last thing I will need to switch to be 100% CF and I’m struggling a bit.

Going CF has saved my skin!

Hello! I want to start this post off by saying thank you to everyone in this sub, y’all are such an amazing resource and I appreciate all of the advice on swaps, company updates, and recommendations.

I went CF two months ago after I got exposed to the Ridglan labs situation, and since then I’ve been working to replace most everything in my life, including my skincare! I’ve always struggled with acne, but I just kind of accepted a mild level of irritation as my baseline ”good” skin. I’ve swapped my Clinique and EltaMD out for ELF, Paula’s Choice, and COOLA. Y’all. MY SKIN HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER.

This is a very vain win but I am happy that making the more ethical choice of where I put my money has manifested as better skin. Thank you all!

Edit - A couple people have asked me about my swaps so here are the details:

  1. Clinique Moisture Surge 100 hours -> Elf holy hydration face cream fragrance free version

  2. Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm -> Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm

  3. EltaMD UV Clear -> COOLA fragrance free face sunscreen

  4. LRP Adapalene Gel -> Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol

  5. Bioderma micellar water -> Garnier micellar water

I can’t use anything with Cetyl Alcohol, Shea Butter, or fragrance so it’s been tricky but these swaps are very quickly turning into holy grails for me!

Need help finding a full coverage foundation! plsss help

I am on a journey this year to switch to cruelty free for all products and for the most part, i’ve been able to find really good options for hair/makeup. The only thing I am struggling with is a full coverage foundation. I have been using the l’oréal pro matte for years and I have been having a difficult time finding anything comparable. I need full coverage because of acne scars and prefer matte because I am an oily gal but a natural finish would also work! Just nothing dewy. I’ve tried Juvias place and Natasha Denona both missed the mark for me :(

PassionCat claiming to be Leaping Bunny approved…

I recently got to test a lip stain by a Korean brand, PassionCat, and on their listing page they claimed to be Leaping Bunny “approved.” This got my attention, because I assumed they’d have said “certified.” I did a quick search and while the brand consistently claims to be vegan and cruelty free, there is no information about them on any CF site that I can find, and no certifications. This is the first time I’ve seen a company specifically state to be approved by a CF organization when they aren’t (at least not yet, publicly).

Anyone else ever encounter something like that?

For clarity, I’m not trying to bash this brand, for all I know there was a miscommunication, mistranslation, or they’re in the process of being certified. Just found it interesting and thought it might spark discussion :)

Best cruelty-free gloss and mascara? 💄 🐰

I try to be conscious about makeup and skincare brands that test on animals, but unfortunately, I still have two items I’ve yet to replace: my favorite lip gloss is by Chanel and my favorite mascara is by L’Oreal. It’s past time to break up with those for animal-friendly options. Any suggestions?
