Dragon Ball GT Ruination Uncut VHS – Corrected Spine Sleeve Value/Rarity?

I’m hoping some Dragon Ball VHS collectors might be able to help me figure out how rare this is and whether it adds any value to my copy of Dragon Ball GT: Ruination – Uncut.

Back when the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT VHS tapes were still being released, I was buying them as they came out, primarily through DBZStore.com. I was already a pretty serious collector at that point and liked having the tapes lined up so the artwork across the spines displayed correctly.

When I received my Ruination – Uncut VHS, I immediately noticed that the artwork on the spine was incorrect and messed up the continuous spine artwork. I contacted the online store to complain about it. This was roughly 20 years ago, so I can't remember whether I called or emailed them, but I do remember them sending me a replacement sleeve/box with the corrected spine artwork.

Funny enough, I remember being a little disappointed at the time because I thought they were going to send me an entirely new VHS rather than just the corrected sleeve. I swapped the original sleeve out for the corrected one and basically never thought about it again.

Now, about 20 years later, I've started going through my Dragon Ball VHS collection and looking into what some of the tapes are worth. That made me remember the whole situation with Ruination.

From what I've been able to find, copies of Ruination – Uncut normally seem to have the incorrect/misaligned spine artwork. Mine has the corrected sleeve that was specifically sent to me after I contacted the retailer.

Does anyone else here have a copy with the correctly printed spine?

I'm especially curious whether these corrected sleeves were ever distributed normally, or if they were only sent out as replacements to customers who complained about the original printing error. If the latter is the case, I'm wondering how many of them are actually out there.

I'd also love to know what people think something like this could be worth compared with a normal Ruination – Uncut VHS.

Unfortunately, I don't have the original correspondence anymore. This was around 20 years ago, and the email address I used would have either been an old AOL address or my college email, neither of which I still have access to.

If anyone remembers this printing issue, received a replacement sleeve themselves, or has another copy with the corrected spine, I'd really like to hear about it. I can also post additional pictures of mine and the spine artwork if that would help.

Anyone else misses when the stories naturally segued into each other

What I mean is, the franchise doesn't transition as smoothly from one story to the next like it used to. I mean, we've been doing this as early as the Fortuneteller Baba Saga. The Tien saga leads to King Piccolo saga, and so on.

Moreover, DBZ is super-known for that. Think about it. After the Saiyan saga they need Dragon Balls. Which leads to the Frieza saga. Frieza attacks, Trunks appears. That's where we go into the Cell saga. however, after that, the next sagas just happen with really no kind of segue.

I mean, the Buu saga is seriously far-removed from where the Cell storyline was. Both in & out of universe. Then there's Dragon Ball Super. Which just crowbars a new story in after the other is done. Sure, sometimes they hint towards a future arc but it's still not as smooth as DB(Z).

Overall, you all get what I'm saying right? Back then, stories in Dragon Ball flowed more naturally than they do now. It wasn't perfect but really speaks to the innovative writing style of Akira Toriyama when it the transition happens. Your thoughts?

How I think ssj1 and ssj2 should be differentiated

SSJ1’s hair should be lighter in colour and with a softer and fluffier overall texture. See picture with Vegeta

SSJ2’s hair should be a darker, more piss-coloured yellow with more layers to it and a sharper overall look. See picture with Goku.

idk if this is a common opinion, but it’s mine. What do you guys think?

Relevancy of the franchise

How relevant do you guys think dragon ball super will be with its remake and the moro arc. Do you think it will be able to compete with the other popular shonen shows like jujutsu kaisen and dandadan

My take on the partial reveal of Vegemom

They say every man grows up to marry his own mother so I need her to be the baddest bitch in the whole kingdom.

The possible personality of Vegeta's mother

Personally, I believe King Vegeta chose the strongest female Saiyan, regardless of her personality. This raises the possibility that Vegeta's mother had a personality very similar to Tarble's—kind-hearted and perhaps protective.

It is quite likely that King Vegeta kept Vegeta away from his mother to ensure he turned out just like him. Furthermore, this would also explain why Vegeta never spoke about his mother.

This is just a theory, in case we ever get to see something of Vegeta's past and how those memories put him in conflict with his doctrine.
