What’s going on?

I started in March of this year and footwear got a good amount ours and then once summer hit hours got cut. Once back to school shopping happened I started working 25 hours a week now I’m only scheduled 4 hours a week. I’ve passed my 90 days for temporary position and never got a talk about if they’re keeping me. I have open availability everyday. What should I do?

Store Temps

Anyone else’s store ungodly hot? Like I understand the stockrooms have poor airflow, but just standing at the register or walking around the store gets me drenched in sweat, it’s absurd.

I have an interview, but I also have questions

I currently work at a Target, but I hate it. I am a “closing expert”. My schedule says I get off at midnight, but that’s rare. I don’t get off until the managers say we can leave.

Anywho, I was wondering if Dick’s is also like this? I applied for a cashier position, and I can only do closing times because of my kid. Will I be held hostage? Or do you get to go home when your shift is over?

What will happen?

I used to be a full-time Off-Field Specialist, but my new job’s schedule allows me to still work truck days, so that’s what I’ve been doing. I originally planned on turning in my keys and dropping down to part-time, but since I’m still working the trucks, I need the keys. They’re currently interviewing for another Off-Field Specialist, so I’m just curious how this is supposed to play out. Are they expecting me to voluntarily step down once they find someone, or are they basically going to hit me with, “So yeah, we found your replacement—time to turn in the keys and take a $5 pay cut”? 😭 I’m genuinely curious how they plan on handling it.

End cap. Misleading pricing

Jumping in here to share my experience. A few years ago, my husband and I went to Dick‘s to buy pickle ball paddles they do not individually price items. They’re just placed on an end cap. we selected $89 paddles when we went to the checkout. The clerk said that will be $312 and we were like what? We figured out what happened but the Pickleball stuff was on the second floor with escalator, etc., and we didn’t feel like going back so we sucked it up and just paid the price.
So last night, I wanted to go buy a Pickleball paddle for my daughter and I picked out the regular version of the brand of paddle and it was $89 then as I was walking down to check out I thought maybe I should just google this paddle and see if it’s good and the Google results mentioned there was a pro version of the paddle so I thought well maybe I’ll get her that and it was quoted at $120 online so I go back up and I find the pro version which is on the end cap on the hook with $89 price tag I looked around and there were several different versions or colors of the pro model all saying $89. There was one hook that said 120 and had some paddles on it so I thought what’s going on here?? I took a picture of the end cap went down to pay for the pro paddle and the clerk says $130 and I said oh no this paddle is 89 and I showed him the picture and I have to say he didn’t really engage with me at all. Just changed the price to 89 and I walked out. so the point of my post obviously is take a picture of what you’re buying and fight it. Their merchandising is either intentionally misleading or they have very poor management at this store.

Waiting on application response

I applied online a week ago today and still haven’t heard anything back other than the automated text message confirming my application. Does it usually take this long for a response, or am I cooked?

Mentally shattered would love some honest help and advice

It was my day off at dicks today and I just felt the need to write here to get some help.

My mental health has tanked and I feel so embarrassed for feeling incompetent and greatly affected.

I can’t tell if my reaction is overblown but I’m finding myself breaking down each time I come home. I’d love to know your candid thoughts and help

Had 2 in-person interviews at Dick’s Sporting Goods — does this mean I’m likely to get hired?

I applied online to Dick’s Sporting Goods and answered all the application questions. After that, they brought me in for two separate in-person interviews — one with the assistant manager and another with the store manager.
For anyone who has worked at Dick’s or gone through their hiring process, is getting two interviews usually a good sign? How long did it take for you to hear back after your final interview?
Also, if they decide not to hire you, do they normally let you know, or do they sometimes just never contact you again?

Previous fired captain

So long story short we had this team captain that worked with the company for 7+ years and they were recently fired due to time theft. They finally realized she was spending her time hanging out with the store manager instead of actually working. The store manager let this happen for months, she got rides with him and she just over all received special treatment from him. Constantly praised for nothing she ever did it was always someone else’s doing but she got the credit for it. Anyway, is this employee or any previous fired employees allowed in the building? And or just let sit in the office for hours even though she’s no longer an employee? Because she’s been in the building after being fired just hanging out in the office talking with the store manager and or on the sales floor huddled in a circle of employees just talking, which this pulls employees away and attention away from customers

Which DICK’S Sporting Goods position is the best and least boring?

I just saw a huge influx of job postings for DICK’S Sporting Goods and I’m thinking about applying, but there are so many different positions that I’m not sure which one would actually be the best.

The openings I saw were Footwear, Apparel, Golf, Sport & Outdoor, Endzone & Loyalty, On Field Operations, Off Field Operations, Footwear Operations, and Advisor Endzone & Loyalty.

For anyone who works or has worked at DICK’S, which position would you recommend the most? I’m mainly looking for something that stays busy and makes the shift go by fast.

I had a stocking job before and absolutely hated it. It was extremely boring and time went by so slow, so I definitely don’t want another job where I’m just stocking shelves or working in the backroom most of the shift.

I actually don’t mind talking to customers and feel like having more interaction would make work go by faster. Which positions have the most customer interaction and variety throughout the shift? And are there any positions you would definitely avoid?

Also curious about the starting pay and how flexible they are with college students.

Employees should be getting a courtesy Scorecard+ membership if the company wants to push it so bad...

With the push on Scorecard+ i feel employees should get a courtesy one. I had a customer ask me if I had it and whether it was good and was honest and said "seems like a good deal if you shop here regularly" and when pushed whether i actually had it replied a simple no.

Hell, even take away the 3mos $25 coupon and I'd be happy with out discount and free shipping on smaller orders

Does this mean they are keeping me as a regular pt teammate?

I got hired at DICK’S as a temp part-time employee about 5 months ago. I checked Workday and noticed my teammate type changed from “Temporary” to “Regular” and it says part time. Nobody ever said anything to me about it
I hardly see the SM because I have a full time day job and I’m only available evenings and weekends.

Does this mean they officially decided to keep me as a regular part-time employee? Has this happened to anyone else where they just changed it without telling you?

Team Captain

All current team captains, is it worth it? I’m interviewing for this position today and have been so back and forth on if it’s something I want to do. I see all the horror stories and this whole new restructure is a smelly pile of horse đŸ’© so I’m not sure if I want to take it. I just want better pay. I already have full time but is the pay increase worth my sanity lol

I was just hired and I need help understanding my role

just got hired as an on-field teammate at Dicks in Wane NJ. Its day 2 for me and I'm really baffled by the set up. I need help understanding if maybe im doing something wrong or maybe i missed a step?

From what I've been told I'm expected to put up sales signs all throughout the store, cool.

I was told that the Signs app will tell me what's on sales throughout all Dicks locations, meanwhile Sideline Assist will tell me which items are in stock within the current store....So I have to manually type each style code into Sideline Assist to ensure the item marked on SIGNS is within our store.....It's insane because I'll have 50 items to go through?

Did i miss something?

Isn’t there a way to know both? Which items at my current location are on sale instead of this info being confined to two different apps? I’ve had to hop between two different apps and manual type it’s crazy

Trucks

Anyone else's trucks shitty? Ours are so unsafe. They put 20 pound hydration boxes and 50 pound weight bests on the top of a stack of boxes you cant see or reach. Its always a game of dodging heavy shit.
