Japanese sup vs dub

This is not really which do you prefer, instead im curious to know what are everyone's positives and negative for both. I'l start.

Original Sub

Positives:

1/ The voice acting is well done, they put their heart and soul in it, especially with goku not only does Masako give her heart and soul in her delivery , she also gives him a slight but noticeable country bumkin dialect, and also manages to give him monkey like characteristics (added to the many monkey like characteristics illustrated by akira) so much so that it feels like a perfect fit/match.

**2/**The dialogue is closer to the manga

Negative:

The soundtrack is monotonous

Dub:

Positive:

Soundtrack is very lively and varied

Negatives:

1/Sub-par voice acting

2/ Dialogue not like the manga

Do we know how master roshi died in the original timeline with the Androids?

Because I believe he must have died with the other z fighters otherwise he could have trained future Trunks. Also do you think he would have got better results than Gohan training him?

Title: Beast Gohan is a terrible name.

Yes AI helped me with this theroy; with that said...

Ever since Super Hero, the name "Beast Gohan" has felt off. Toriyama stated he picked it because he wanted to convey "the wild beast within awakening," but visually and mechanically, Gohan doesn't act like a feral animal. He stays completely composed, retains his sharp intellect, and uses precise martial arts. "Beast" is a surface-level nickname (which the manga even admitted was just Piccolo naming it on the fly).

If you look back at the actual linguistic history of the series, the path to a perfect naming convention was sitting right there the whole time.

By leaning into Gohan's history as a hybrid with infinite latent potential, and Broly's history as a genetic anomaly mutant, we can unify the modern "Ultra" tier into a perfect philosophical trinity.

1. Gohan should be: Apex Unleashed

In Dragon Ball Z, Gohan's peak was officially Ultimate Gohan (often translated in guidebooks as Potential Unleashed).

Changing his new form to Apex Unleashed strips away the unearned feral imagery and focuses entirely on his true narrative identity: the ultimate genetic ceiling. "Apex" denotes the highest point of an evolutionary line, honoring his status as the premier human-Saiyan hybrid. "Unleashed" directly respects the original Japanese lore (Kaihō). He isn't a beast; he is the absolute apex of mortal biology, completely unbound.

2. Broly should be(theory): Ultra Beast

The word "Beast" implies a loss of higher cognition in favor of pure, untamed, primordial instinct. This is Broly's exact mechanical engine. His Ikari (Wrathful) state explicitly channels the savage, wild power of the Oozaru (Great Ape) while forcing it into a human envelope.

Putting Ultra Beast on Broly perfectly mirrors Goku’s Ultra Instinct (Divine Calm) and Vegeta’s Ultra Ego (Divine Pride).

The Perfect Trinity of Saiyan Evolution

With this naming fix, the top-tier transformations cease to look like random, color-swapped marketing forms and become a beautifully symmetrical system where each path represents a distinct aspect of power:

Ultra Instinct (Goku): Total detachment of the soul. Mimics the perfect efficiency of the Angels. (The Spirit)

Ultra Ego (Vegeta): Total immersion of the mind. Powered by absolute pride and destruction. (The Mind)

Ultra Beast (Broly): Total reliance on raw, untamed, primordial Saiyan mutation. (The Bloodline)

Apex Unleashed (Gohan): The ultimate expression of hybrid vigor and flawless genetic efficiency. No god ki or ape forms required. (The Biology)

"Beast Gohan" was a lazy marketing placeholder. Apex Unleashed honors 30 years of character development. Change my mind.

If u think about it

If u think about it Dragon ball z is basically like playing a game with that one kid that keeps coming up with new rules and powers and other random bs

Super Should of started after Pan birth

So my opinion is that for super they should made it take place 5 years after. We could of got uub, pan, and teen Goten and Trunks. I think that would of made for a more compelling season of super with what they could of did with Goten and Trunks as well as pan and uub. I think it would be so cool if a teen Trunks met his future self that went through a whole different teenage experience then him, that's just one of many things I think would of been a cool addition.

Have we ever gotten any kind of interview or explanation from the guy or gal at Viz that made Piccolo talk like Yoda?

Guy (or gal?) is a freaking legend. First US manga chapter of the “Z” portion of the story, the arrival of Raditz, Piccolo totally talks like Yoda the entire chapter. And Viz did it with a straight face. They’re like, this is totally how Piccolo talks! Within a chapter or two they stopped doing it.

What was behind this bizarre decision? Was it actually based on anything? Any nuance with Piccolo’s dialect or manner of speaking in Japanese at all? Or was it just a straight up butchering for the sake of making him distinct?

Is Dragon Ball Z Kai Good?

Hey everyone! I used to read the manga, and I read all of Dragon Ball up until Trunks debuted. But everything past that I haven’t read. I’ve been thinking about watching Dragon Ball Z and just watch up until where I read (I’m not too interested in watching all of Dragon Ball, I just really wanna watch Dragon Ball Z). Some people have recommended Dragon Ball Z Kai. I just wanted to see if that was something I should watch instead of DBZ. Thank you!

Redub GT For NickToons

For the time Dragon Ball GT was on NickToons, couldn’t they have redubbed it? Have Coleen Cinklebeard voice Kid Goku instead of Stephanie Naldony?

The Hironobu Kageyama Era of Dragon Ball is Making a Comeback!

One of Japan's biggest anison singers, Hironobu Kageyama truly is the voice of Dragon Ball. I still can remember growing up watching DBZ with my brothers singing along to the infamous opening, 'Cha-La Head-Cha-La' and listing to mix-cd's of the various other songs he sang for the series. It was also a great joy to hear Kageyama-san rock sing the themes to various DBZ films and video games such as 'Ore wa Tokoton Tomaranai!!' from Budokai 3, 'Hikari no Sasu Mirai e!' from Infinite World, and one of my very favorites, 'Saikyō no Fusion' from Fusion Reborn. Kageyama's unmatched, high-octane power house vocals was the perfect match for DBZ's Super Saiyan action and it's epic displays of the Kamehameha.

Listing to him sing truly feels like you're soaring through the skies of DBZ. So when I heard the news that the Prince of the Anison World himself was returning to sing the song 'Zero' for the game, Sparking! Zero after 18 years, I nearly jumped out of my chair with excitement. Don't get me wrong, there have been plenty of new artist that given many songs I enjoy listing to from the DBZ series like with Takayoshi Tanimoto and Daichi Miura. However, I still find myself listening to Kageyama's powerful voice whenever I want to feel the true heart of Dragon Ball. Even the late Akira Toriyama himself loved his energy, despite paying little attention to anime adaptations.

The feeling was mutual for Hironobu Kageyama when he shared his thoughts on Toriyama's passing. "Singing the song 'Cha-La Head-Cha-La' for DBZ was the biggest medal of my life. The loss of the loss of the sun is too much to bear."

Instant Ramen

While watching Dragon Ball Super I got to the point of when the gang were trying to impress Beerus with food, they got to Instant Ramen which was judged as the best food of all, and I was after a lifetime of pot noodles and similar bland brands didn’t think that was realistic. Then when it showed the top of the noodles I thought no instant noodle could look like that.

Then I tried Cup Noodles and found it to be the best instant noodles I’ve ever had, although it didn’t look like the image, I was put off from trying the seafood flavour because one of the ingredients was squid, but I tried one eventually, when I opened the lid it was exactly like on the show and I couldn’t even tell what ingredient was the squid

This and how he names most of his characters really shows Toriyama’s obsession with food

Gogetto vs. Daishinkan: Would he be humiliated or would he put up a fight? 🥊

Hey guys, straight talk and purely hypothetical here. If Gogetto existed (that absurd fusion of Vegetto and Gogeta), do you think he could at least make the Grand Priest break a sweat? We know the Grand Priest is the pinnacle of the multiverse and wins easily. But could Gogetto with Ultra Instinct and Superior Ego combined even scratch the Grand Priest? Or would the fusion explode in 2 seconds from lack of energy before even throwing a punch?

Fusion Outfits

I’m kinda suprised that no artists have drawn any of the fusions in one of their component’s clothing. Like nobody didn’t want to see how Vegito looks in Vegeta’s clothing? Or Gotenk’s in Goten or Trunk’s Gi? Hell, even Kefla in Caulifla or Kale’s clothing. I would try and do this, but I can’t draw for nothing.

I’m about to watch Super again after almost 10 years. For BOG and resurrection F, I don’t know if I should watch the movies, the anime, or wait for the reanimated version.

Which should I watch? I remember very little from my first watch 10ys ago. Is there a fan made version that connects the needed parts of the anime and movie for the full content while having mostly good animation? How do you guys recommend watching it?

The sizes of the Frieza Force's task forces seen in Akira Toriyama's works

So, we start with a platoon of 11 foot soldiers in the invasion to Namek, assisted by Cui, Dodoria, Zarbon and the Ginyu Force that sums at 19.

Then, when Mecha-Frieza and King Cold invade Earth, they brought 16 foot soldiers with them (who presumably work under Cold).

When Frieza's revenge in Resurrection 'F' takes place 15 years after his prior demise, he brought an army of 1,020 B-rate soldiers and mercenaries (170 soldiers per 5 Z-Fighters and Jaco). With the inclusion of Sorbet and Shisami, it counts as 1,022. Vegeta claims in the manga version of the Tournament of Power that those were the entire remaining Frieza Force combatants.

In the "Broly" movie, which happens 17 years after Frieza's first demise, Frieza has less than 100 soldiers on his ship, with only a few of them being fully fledged combatants (including Broly and Paragus).

I doubt that the next confrontation with Frieza's army would be more massive than Resurrection 'F'.

Question: Piccolo’s Power Level

I was watching the original Broly movie and saw Piccolo fighting and got curious. When did he actually scale to SSJ1 levels? During the time skip before the Android saga?
