How do i emulate smt1(PSX) using duckstation

Hi i recently got a new laptop and want to play smt1 on it but I'm new to emulation and have no idea how it works. I installed Duckstation and got a repo of the game installed from The Repo but have no idea on how to actually run the game on Duckstation.I cant find the iso file of the game in the extracted files so I'm stuck on what to actually do.

"Show FPS" question in DuckStation

Hello, I just have a simple question because I've seen someone say this, but I cannot find any confirmation.

If the FPS display is red when it's lowered does that mean it's a problem on my part (the performance of my PC)? And if it's still normal white but lowered for a second or two, is it just the way the game plays?

I've been playing Spyro: Year of the Dragon and there are some moments (mostly when smashing the boxes and when entering a room with a lot of stuff happening) where the framerate drops for 1-2 seconds, the rest of the game plays wonderfully. I'm at the 3rd world, and I've experienced this like 6 times or so.

Thank you in advance.

Update boke my Duckstation software.

A few months ago, I downloaded Duckstation and followed all of the steps correctly. Everything worked and I was able to play games I never got a chance to play before.

Well, today I clicked an update and it now refuses to register my bios. I keeps saying I don't have the NTSC-U for my games. Except I do have the bios.

I deleted my file out of stress in an attempt to reset everything.

Can someone help me here?

Update: I going to reset everything. I pray to Christ that I can actually get the program to work this time. I REALLY don't want to start from scratch, but this got way too complicated and I made the mistake of deleting the entire file anyways. I will give another update if things actually work.

Another Update: I decided this is not worth it. If I'm going to be dealing with update that will break the functioning software, I might as well not even bother.

I absolutely love Playstation 1 discs

me and my friends had this idea of adding the discs as the cover art instead of the actual cover art of the games and i simply cant stop contemplating my library now lmao. i had so much fun digging for them discs too (all of them are official expect for the ff7 one that i made using the original artwork of the game to match with the ff6 one)

Does anyone else not experience any input lag with VSync?

I watched this video and it was a helpful tip for examining the input lag in DuckStation.

Whenever I tried Vsync ON and OFF, I could never tell if there was ANY input lag. All I know Vsync completely fixed the tearing issues. (I have a basic 60Hz laptop, no VRR). For me, it consistently took 5 frames for Crash to jump with or without Vsync. Actually what helped more was the Max Queued Frames option. At 2 I sometimes got 6 frames for some reason, but at 1 consistent 5 frames. It's just kinda weird because everyone goes on about how much input lag Vsync introduces and honestly for my setup, it's virtually non-existent.

So I guess Vsync ON is the move for me. I was really going back and forth but it's the better experience without the screen tearing. I'm just baffled because I only see hate for Vsync, and I don't know why. Sure, it's an outdated option, but it has its place in certain circumstances like this. PS1 emulation on a fixed 60Hz refresh rate.

Also, if anyone knows, should I cap the framerate on RTSS at 59.94 when using Vsync? I've seen someone recommend that for PS1 emulation but I don't know why. If anyone else has more advice, it will be appreciated. Also, I won't use Runahead option. I don't really need it and it won't put that much stress on CPU.

Launch in Big Picture Mode

Steam deck user with duckstation as a standalone download from their GitHub. I use big picture mode, I'm just curious if the option to launch in Big Picture Mode will be an added setting much like pcsx2, or if there is an easy way to set big picture mode as my default without having to use steam's own big picture.
