Fell from a parasol

Hi!

I'm at my mom's place to take care of the flowers on her balcony while she's away for a couple of days.

I needed some shade so I got the parasol, opened it, and this [cylinder] fell from it and cracked open.

The parasol was put away in a corner of the balcony, near the window. There are no upstairs neighbours and no balcony above hers either.

The smaller piece is about 1.3 cm in length, the bigger piece 2.6 to 3 cm, and it has a diameter of less than a centimeter.

It seems to be made of dried mud and it has bright orange goo inside. The imprint matches the fabric of the parasol.

I'm guessing it's been made by some bug while the parasol was closed in the corner but that's all I can guess about it.

Any idea? Thanks!

Who’s THAT Cucumber!!!

I gave it a good 6~months of researching 🧐 but I’m pretty sure the last recorded documentation of this 🥒 species in Texas was 1922!!! UNTIL MEEE back in
January 2026.

Thanks to the amazing Cuke researchers who came through on Reddit/FB with the paper depicting the species and I found the Hubert Clark reference/noting the species in Texas once over a century ago!!! 104 years to be precise! And thank you @coastal.studieslab for sending another paper in the search for data on it!

EVERYONE MEET Isostichopus maculatus phoenius!

Peep Fig. 17/18 for reference pics of the species it was identified as! And second link is the original 1922 Clark paper reference from Texas! “Previous taxon”

Big Worm in Almond Wood Splits

Started seeing these big worms while splitting my almond wood splits into smaller pieces. Been doing this a long time and never noticed anything like this before. This is the second one.

I won’t be able to sleep until I know what this fleshy 8mm thing is

This strange 8 mm fleshy thing was found on my bedsheet in a chalet in the French Alps (village of Névache). I saw it on the sheet when tidying up and I thought it was a piece of a Fruitloop or something, but when I picked it up, it felt cold and soft like flesh! It’s scared the daylights out of me, and I threw it across the room. What on earth is this thing? It doesn’t not appear to be moving. It reminds me of a tiny fetus or something. It’s pink and the color of flesh.

I have been out hiking and taking walks around the valley and farmlands. I take my shoes off at the door.

It’s 10 pm and I won’t be able to sleep until I know what this thing is . I’m so disturbed!

Found this in my beef broth box

It’s super slimy and stringy. Just grossed out bc of the shape and color. Otherwise, I’d assume it’s fat
