What hurts me most about Eren and Mikasa is the contradiction between what he truly feels and what he chooses to tell her.
When Eren finally opens up to Armin, all that coldness disappears for a moment and admits that the idea of Mikasa loving someone else hurts him, that he wants to remain special to her, that deep down he wishes he could be her only love, it’s selfish, immature and painfully human. Because at the end of the day, Eren is still only nineteen years old.
He loves her, he is afraid of dying, and he is terrified of being forgotten.
But Mikasa never gets to hear that version of him.
Instead, he tells her to throw away the scarf, forget about him and live a happy life without him. Earlier, he even forced himself to tell her that he hated her, knowing exactly how much those words would hurt.
That is what makes it so sad to me.
Deep inside, he wants her to hold onto him forever. But when he speaks to her, he asks her to let him go.

People can judge Eren’s choices, and many of them deserve to be questioned. But emotionally, it is difficult not to feel something for a 19yo boy who had to deliberately break the heart of the person he loved just to push her away from him.
He wanted Mikasa to be happy, even if that happiness eventually existed without him and at the same time, the thought of her loving someone else broke his own heart. That is what makes Eren’s love for Mikasa feel so painfully real to me.

Why is the fanfiction like this??

I haven't been active in the twitter fandom for a very long time so I don't know if it's still like this, but, a lot of the popular fanfiction by popular authors I notice tends to have this trope between Mikasa and Eren. Usually Mikasa is an innocent (in most cases younger by around 5 years) naïve cute virgin girl while Eren is a manwhore bad boy type character. It makes the stories almost unreadable especially considering that 1, with goth Mikasa existing, even if school castes isn't canon, I feel like it would make more sense for her to be goth or atleast alternative in some way, not a cutesy girl. This isn't the same trope but there was a very popular author on EM twitter (I dunno if they're still popular, this was like 3 or more years ago) but almost all of their stories were her being significantly younger than him. It was pointed out in odd ways too (Talking about her "innocence" and "youth") and they even had a story where he was 24 and she was 16. I mean, maybe it's because I'm a guy and I just don't get it or something but just, why? Do people enjoy reading fanfiction that feels borderline predatory? I don't mean to attack the authors of stories like these but it feels like all of the stories of them are like this. Fuck man I just want to see Mikasa being portrayed in a light that's not infantilizing or mischaracterizing. Just a fanfiction that is and feels like two grown adults. I'll delete this post if it's not within the sub's limits, but I just kinda wanted some fic recommendations and just to complain about this

Attack On Titan Blu Ray Audio Guide Controversy Explained.

I know l'm too late in this and l'm really sorry for that but anyway, here's the real truth:

The claim orginated from a prominent AOT fan and eremika shipper named @kasumi_kasa on X . She posted on 21 January 2026 that the new AOT: THE LAST ATTACK thearitical re-release and blu ray version features an audio guide which states jean and mikasa are married. When fans asked her for the source , she went silent and deleted her original post saying she doesn't know whether isayama was in production and backed off from the claim.

On 23 January , a professional and real scripwriter named @mihobade posted on X :

"Audio guides released through apps during a film's screening, as well as those included on DVD and Blu-ray, are official materials. They are created after multiple confirmations and careful consideration. They are not based on personal or arbitrary interpretations."

(souce- image 2 from google AI)

(Actual post is deleted but it was somewhat like this as per google AI)

Note that she never mentions AOT or claims she's scripwriter. She's also unrelated to Mappa, Kodansha and Isayama . In her tweet she just explains how audio guides r made and was just defending her job as scriptwriter as people were saying audio guide is unofficial.

She got caught up in this matter as people her considered her the scripwriter and targeted her , she faced backlash and deleted her post to maintain her image and her account is still on X.

After her post deletion , few fake accounts created username lookalike to her username on X , few of the major ones were @mihofuromi or @mihibade which came up claiming and posting something like :

"Thank you for listening the audio guide , l'm the one who wrote the script .Please understand that they are produced after various confirmations and considerations, and that the writer does not make free judgments."

(One of the accounts mentioned above posted this and these accounts are now deleted , but the actual post was somewhat like this and the second line from "please to judgments" is same)

Due to the backlash , these fake accounts deleted their whole accounts as they were fake and are now nowhere on X.

However the confusion about it orginates from this article : https://nerd-talk.com/attack-on-titan-the-last-attack-mikasa-jean/

(image 3). The writer of this article confuses @mihobade as the scriptwriter where she was just trying to explain how audio guides r made and the line which starts from "please and ends with judgment" were from another post from either of these deleted accounts i.e. @mihoforumi or @mihibade.

Now The viral clip : https://x.com/i/status/2014986586925203643.

It says “Fire flows; Mikasa and Jean visit a grave with a child. Later, the two, now elderly, visit together with their children and grandchildren.”

However (higlighted in image 4) the audio says "火が流れ" (hi nagare) which means "fire flows" while the subtitles are "月日が流れ" (Tsukihi ga nagare) which means “As time passes” / “As the years go by”. Here the subtitles are different from what audio says and this basically shouldn't happen and is contraducting as both subtitles and audio are in japanese. Its a mistake which is mostly done by AI, as "hi" is sound of both 日(day) and 火(fire) in Japanese.

(In image 5) , U can also see black boxes around subtitles which is mostly done by capcut editing .

Now as the viral claim is fake and AI generated with being an internet hoax . So the real blu ray audio guide script should be like the Storyboard script pinned in this community i.e. https://www.reddit.com/r/eremika/s/JrKcxS9YRF , its completely neutral and doesn't mention jean's name to maintain intentional imbiguity left by the author.

Also even if somehow the audio guide claim is real and mentions jean somehow , its not by Isayama and is completely non-canon and is just the most popular fan interpretation.

Note regarding Google Ai Algorithm- l saw a comment on r/shingekinokyojin that google's ai is biased and just says what u want to hear to please you, and this comment is wrong/misinformation.Their AI sometimes goes against us too and sometimes it even starts saying fake interpretations as the real ones and defends them but if u oppose it , it may consider it and corrects itself or just defends the wrong interpretation.

I checked the questions in image 1 and 2 on google atleast 10 times and response was same almost every time and after question in image 1 , l always asked the question in image 2 image too and it was same.

However sometimes when l asked "is aot blu ray audio guide claim real" it said "yes the guide itself is real but the claim is unverified and its canon status is highly disputed or false".

Any kind of Ai doesn't know what is not explained and mentioned in a story i.e. lore gaps. Its algorithm just picks best ones from social media.
