Chicken sisig, can I mash the chicken liver?

Hi everyone. I'm not familiar with cooking Filipino food, but I'm about to make chicken sisig with chicken liver. I don't want to ruin the dish, so I thought I'd ask here. Can I boil the chicken liver, mash it into a paste, and then mix it with the chicken meat sisig? I was told that some people in the Philippines prepare it this way. Also, would it be okay to add a little shrimp paste to the sisig to mask the liver taste a bit? Has anyone made it this way before?

By the way, Filipino food is amazing and absolutely underrated. As a German I love it, it's not as strongly spiced as some other Asian cuisines, it's definitely food I would be happy to eat everyday 👍
