Eagle Harbor Jac Shirt question
I just got the tan one and it showed up today. It’s soaked to the point of feeling wet in wax and the cloth is translucent. Has anyone else experienced this?? Just submitted a return

Some updates from inside. I can't validate to 100% but this is the discussion.
Mackinaw wool jackets will soon be a thing of the past, expect heavy discounts soon as these will be faded out and replaced solely by the 1940's version. This will likely happen this season.
For next spring summer, all. I mean all bags will be shifted production to Vietnam. Expect massive sales on all current rugged twill stock and new vietnam bags will see a significant price drop.
If this ain't allowed, please remove.
Hey gang, I picked up this double mack from a vintage store when I was up in Seattle in February. Sent it to Filson to get some repairs done and now that I have it back, I'm wondering if I could enlist your assistance trying to date it. The lot number is pretty worn out but looks like it's either 33 or 83. Size is the equivalent of a Medium Long, you can just barely make out the XL on the tag. Anyway, thanks a bunch!
I see on used clothing sites, Filson denim jackets for sale. All are fairly old. But I don't see (mens) denim on the company site. Just curious, how long ago did Filson stop selling denim jackets?
I came across Filson at a random gas station/convenience store that also sold a ton of new Filson clothing (?) in middle of nowhere Missouri. I made the mistake of trying on this coat and falling in love with it, felt like great quality and I adored the fit. $300 at that store but on sale for $209 on the Filson website. I’m two clicks away from buying, $200 doesn’t feel crazy for a timeless denim coat BUT it seems Filson is primarily sought after as a vintage brand and some people aren’t fond of the newer clothes.
Anyone have opinions on this?
Got this about a year ago for $5 at a yard sale across the street.
I wear it, it’s great. Got curious and looked it up. I think it is late 50's. Any other takes out there? Still gonna wear it.
Rare item from the old 4th Ave location in Seattle 😈
Bought for $60, seemed like a fair price and it’s in pretty good condition. Nice little patina action. Any idea on the year?
Size XL Green label does have some thinning on the one shoulder unfortunately 😕
I picked this up the other day at Goodwill (for $10, sorry). This is my first Filson find, I’m located in Chicago, so it’s more Carhartt round these parts.
I own a vintage shop, so I do know my way around a tag. Handwritten anything generally means it’s a sample. However, I can’t find anything on this style.
I’m no Filson expert. So what do you all think? I almost think it’s a women’s jacket. I don’t know if Filson cuts wider through the hips, because generally men’s jackets in a medium get too tight for my lady hips. (I know the buttons are on one side of men vs women… but in practice it’s not always true.) This very much fits me. 🤷🏻♀️
Kojima? Is google lens just permanently broke and this a simple answer?
I just rewaxed (or waxed, for it's the first time I did it) my Journeyman, and it came out great.
I am wondering, can it really withstand say 15 minutes of hard rain, with a laptop in it?
I am asking because while it is now rewaxed, the back and bottom of the sides are not made out of tincloth, so they could get wet, and also, it seems easy to miss small spots here and there rewaxing. In truth I have a rain cover in it, but I am wondering: would the backpack resist a quarter of an hour downpour keeping a laptop fully dry? Curious to hear from anyone who has experience.
And I mean downpour. I am sure it can stand hours of drizzle.
Hey folks, curious if my forest green single mackinaw (images attached) was made using Pendleton wool? As the tag just states Made in USA (VS Made in USA with imported materials)... Unless there was a period they were using other USA mills after Pendleton?
Any info would be greatly appreciated, asking as it feels quite different to my black and red plaid mackinaw from the woolmark era which used Pendleton and feels more burly.
Had a crew knock a project out of the park and got a bucket of money to give out bonuses. Carved a bit out to get the guys some new jackets. Airing these out in the basement and off to the embroiderer next week.
Edit for clarity: Yes, there is a monetary bonuses that is worth the jacket many times over. Over half of this cost is coming straight out of my bonus. Majority of the guys have been here 5+ years, while we have some crews that have high turnover over, this is not one of them. These jackets are something for them to remember the job. I understand they may be considered swag, the logo is the size of a quarter, I wouldn’t consider it a billboard. I know they will appreciate them and if they don’t that’s on them. We pay a healthy wage, and extra $200 that’s taxed 30% isn’t going change any of their lives. We do site work and leave most days covered in dirt, this jacket in meant to be worn on the job.
Near perfect condition size 48 green double mackinaw jacket. No holes, no cuts, only slight wear on cuffs shown in photo and one or two other spots on the jacket. $450
Hello everybody, I’m new to Reddit and this subreddit so I apologise if I don’t know all the proper etiquettes but I have been interested in buying a second hand wool mackinaw. Before I buy, should I be worried if the coat has a moth problem or has been shrunk? And are there any other considerations before parting with such a hefty sum? Thanks,
I never meant it to end up matching. Just got was in the sale. Is it a bit naff? Never used both at the same time before.
Last week, I picked up a 2005 246 Rugged Twill duffle. Photos 1-4 show the condition of the bag when I first got it, no conditioning or cleanup yet. When I realized how dry & brittle the straps were, I began researching conditioning methods in an effort to be proactive against further cracking. Past products I’ve used include Bick 4, Leather Honey, and Pecards- for this bag specifically I went with Obenaufs. A commenter on another forum heavily advocated for Obenaufs specifically for use on Filson’s bridle leather, as they found Bick 4 to cause an unsightly wrinkling. I spot tested this myself with Bick 4 on the underside of the bag and found this to be true.
When the Obenauf’s arrived I got to work (photos 5 & 6), here you can see the immediate darkening of the leather compared to the side I hadn’t conditioned yet. The leather drank up the Obenauf’s immediately, and in an effort to be thorough with the conditioning, I may have been a bit heavy handed. The straps specifically, I was gliding them through my index & thumb which I would coat with the Obenauf’s, ensuring full coverage. I later learned that is a less-than ideal application method and became worried that I may have ruined my bag. The leather was no longer dry, brittle or hard. It was flexible and softer to the touch. I hit it with a micro-fiber cloth about 1.5 hours after the initial conditioning, and it was leaving behind darkened product onto the microfiber signaling to me that the towel is at least lifting some of the product. I buffed it out religiously for about another hour and a half then left it alone for two days. Photos 7-13 are the final product. The leather has lightened and hardened up a bit. To be quite honest it may be perfectly fine now, but I’m the type of person who will be kicking myself for days over a mistake like this. The very last slide, I noticed that some of the product may have been caught in the grooves of the stitches. Thoughts?
Ready to fly to London with my Journeyman. Hoping it fits EasyJet cabin under seat.
