I've finished Light binger, time to rant.

WHAT THE F**K DO YOU MEAN YOU HUNG CASSIUS'S MANGLED BODY TO MAKE A POINT??? He saved you, little ungrateful piece of shit. You use your saviour's death to obliterate the food supply; oh, all the deaths Darrow caused- millions- are not right, but me and my grandma can do it because we are born GOLD!

I had hope that this little prick would kill Atlas and help Cassius. But nah, His golden Lannister ass wants to commit genocide on people, the same people that were treated like slaves! My god, Sevro should have pulled a lorn au arcos and skewered this little Mr Served Everything on a platter's head.

How did y'all go through Lightbringer's first part?

I usually hate lysander's pov chapters, but they had something interesting in the 4,5 th books, but the first part of Lightbringer is just too hard to get through. How did you all do it?

Edit: People here love Lysander a lot, ig.

Lysander

I know Lysander is hated but I can't help but have some respect for him

Yes he's a hypocritical person who genuinely believes he's the good guy but also looking at his achievements I can't help but admire how he raised himself up from a penniless boy who lost his name to being one of the Peerless.

He wasn't handed the influence and power he enjoys on a silver platter, he got in the mud and fought by the skin of his teeth, with the way he is hated before I read the second trilogy I thought he's a pampered brat who's never seen action and gets everything handed to him while sitting on a soft cushion. But no, it's quite the opposite he has proven himself militaristically and politically, a force to be reckoned with on both ends.

His performance on Mercury was admirable, bro can write a book about that if he becomes Sovereign, that's when I actually gained some measure of respect for him, falling in an Iron Rain, getting stranded by himself with a bunch of Peerless hunting for his head and proceeding to make short work of them without even enlisting the help of Apollonius even though it was right there. Then going on to defeat the Apex Gold Predator of all time Darrow in battle, I actually felt proud of the little fucker. He spent years in exile away from action, of course he'd rely on a gun instead of a Razor, would've been stupid to go against some of the best Razormasters with decade long experience because of pride, that's unbecoming of a leader.

I know the hate he receives from blasting the Crimson Jaw and Darrow from wish( Alexander ) but I don't blame him, he picks his fights wisely and performs efficiently. And i really like his by any means necessary mindset, proper Peerless Iron Gold stuff .All in all he very much deserves the gravitas and auctoritas he enjoys now.

Disclaimer: I'm no fan of the pricklick but think of it as me seeing him how the Society remnant sees Darrow.

Thank you.

Weakest fictional character that could no diff the Bitch-xie?

Lysander from beginning of Light Bringer, in standard Peerless kit, (scarabskin, pulseshield and razor), no other tech or backups. What is a character from another piece of fiction that would be able to no-diff him in a fight?

I think standard kit Ant-Man from Marvel, Morty from Rick and Morty, Han Solo from Starwars and even just Sportacus from Lazytown could all do it fairly easily. Seriously, Sportacus eats one apple and then it’s bye-bye pulseshield.

Lysander is infuriating.

I am currently in iron gold close to the end, and I hate lysander's pov. All he does is whine how darrow destoryed his life, destoryed peace in system, bitch your grandma nuked a moon. Do I have to suffer him in Light bringer and Dark Age too?

Finished Golden Son recently, and you-know-who's introduction was kinda funny.

For reference, I'm almost halfway through Morning Star. I've thankfully not run into any spoilers regarding the rest of series, but I don't exist in a vacuum. I know Lysander is one of the most hated characters in all of Red Rising, maybe all of science-fiction.

So during Darrow's sit down with the Soverign when we met him for the first time, it did instill within me this undercurrent of foreboding.

I was like, "Oh, it's you...YOU'RE the problem that's on the horizon" 🤣

I cannot wait to join the rest of you in sharing the contempt for this kid, cuz something tells me it's gonna be BAD.

Man I can’t stand Lysander sometimes

“Drusilla speaks of the Dream of Persephone. Of helping the people, as if all lowColors were paupers and slaves before the Rising.

It’s a laugh. I’ve met Reds and Browns happier than most Golds I know, and all of them with better lives than the Grays who fed our military machine. But Grays never broke under the hardship. Of all the Colors, they’ve remained the most loyal to the Society.”

I’ve just read this passage, right after >!he was captured with Alexandar in the dungeons.!< At first I felt sorry for him, but man does he make it hard to sympathise. You’d think he’d be a bit more self aware considering how clever he is

Bats

“Are you aware there is a species of bat on Mercury that begins life as mammalian larva? […] In order for the larva to mature to its destined form, it must find a host to grow inside and then consume when it is ready to fly.”

Listening to DA and this line from Xenophon in Ephraim’s last chapter has me thinking about a certain pixie’s time spent in a cave full of bats on Mercury. Imagine? Idk if I’d be pissed or giddy if that was his end.
