A Ray of Hope

I know many of us have been waiting, hoping, checking for updates, and wondering whether More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers will ever return for Season 2.

And honestly... I just wanted to share something from the heart.

This was only the second romance anime I ever watched, right after My Dress-Up Darling. I started it expecting something fun, lighthearted, maybe just another cute rom-com to pass time.

Instead, it unexpectedly touched my heart.

What started as a funny "pretend married couple" setup slowly became something emotionally beautiful to me. The chemistry between Jiro and Akari, the awkwardness, the jealousy, the misunderstandings, the vulnerable moments where characters say things they can only admit when the other person isn’t fully aware... it all felt strangely human beneath the anime exaggeration.

There were moments that genuinely made my heart race.

Moments that made me smile like an idiot.

Moments that frustrated me so much I wanted to scream at the screen.

And some surprisingly soft moments that honestly left me emotional.

Akari especially became such a lovable character to me. Behind all the playful teasing and gyaru energy was someone vulnerable, sincere, and deeply human.

I know some people may say, "If Season 2 happens, it happens. If not, move on."

But I think hope is part of being a fan.

Maybe this is just my prediction, maybe just wishful thinking—but against all odds. I genuinely believe this story still has a chance. Anime sequels sometimes take years. Sometimes far longer than expected. Silence doesn't always mean the end.

So maybe this post is simply that:

A small ray of hope.

For everyone who laughed, suffered, smiled, and emotionally screamed because of this series.

Whether Season 2 comes sooner or years from now...

I’ll keep hoping.

And if it does happen one day, I know many of us will be here celebrating together.

Until then—

Team Akari & Jiro forever. 🎀❤️<3

If you are expecting a release by june, probably this can stretch up to july to august or probably longer.

Shiori is already top-tier wife material, she could've easily won Jinou over if either of them take a single step further. But unfortunately, Akari is still one small step ahead with her Wife x Gyaru personality combo and contra

Only if the pairing wasn't Akari x Jirou, Shiori could just have won hahah

Hope there's an alternate universe about this

Really enjoy these kind of daily content of them, no love drama, no sadness, just pure living together and comedic actions, and some slight fam service haha

What I like about anime is they'll sometimes fill up the loophole of the manga, like the manga didn't explain how come Shiori couldn't see Jirou even though they basically met eyes, good explanation done from the anime 👍

Predictions for end of the series?

Now that the manga is (hopefully) starting up again soon, what are your predictions for how things will play out? Mine are:

  1. Obviously, Jiro and Akari end up together. I think much of the coming story will focus on them figuring out what actually being a couple means, instead of a pretend married couple.

  2. Minami is going to continue on his arc of moving on from his sister in law and hopefully make some sort of amends, or at least come to an understanding with the rest of his family.

  3. I think Shiori is gonna end up with Mei. This might be controversial, but I think the signs are there. Obviously Mei has feelings for Shiori, and Shiori, I think if anything, might actually be asexual. Her relationship with Jiro might have been heterosexual in appearance, but she was always more focused on the companionship aspect of the relationship, not necessarily holding romantic or sexual feelings. I think if Mei were to confess to her she would consider it, again because she craves companionship, but also because she would be afraid of losing her best friend after what happened with Jiro. If it happens it might take some time and soul-searching on Shiori’s part, but it’s something I could see happening.

What are your thoughts?

Maybe you're right, Jiro, but I have no way to prove it.

Chapter 29.

Jirō Confidence

First time posting here! I’m not really experienced in reading manga, but I just finished More Than a Married Couple. In this scene, (chapter 71) Jirou and Akari were in the heat of their “birthday gifts” (kissing), when his study alarm goes off on his phone. Akari tells him that the “rest” is for when they’re really dating. That’s when he says this response shown in the panel. I TOTALLY THEN REALIZED HOW MUCH HE HAS CHANGED. His demeanor is completely different and he isn’t as timid as he used to be. I mean to say that making out with her is fair game straight to her face is REALLY confident. No inner monologues or characters have pointed this change out in a way that made sense to me, but I really really hope any anime adaptations that come in the future do well to show off this confidence change we see in the manga!
