Gaslands Simple Flight Mechanic
I am running this in a convention setting and do not want to overcomplicate it.
Elevation:
Using 3 different levels of flight stands to represent 3 different elevation levels. I used a flat base to represent an elevation of 0 but am doing it on a board that is clear plexiglass over water. If you are over land terrain you may want to start elevated.
To gain elevation you need to use a Shift result and still gain a Hazard same as if you are shifting gears.
You may decrease your elevation without spending a shift result and does not cause a Hazard.
High Ground Advantage:
If you are at least one elevation higher than your target you gain the high ground advantage.
When machining an attack roll with the high ground advantage add 1 die to your attacking dice pool.
Collisions:
Collisions only happen when both planes are at the same elevation.
For movement purposes if one plane would end overlapping bases with another get as close to the placement as you can or adjust once the other plane has moved to the correct ending position.
Wipe Out:
Because I’m playing on plexiglass simulating being higher up on the map wipeouts do not result in crashing to the ground and represent more of an engine stall.
In addition to all regular Wipe Out rules you will also be reduced to elevation 0.
Crimson Skies Zeppelin Scenario
Mission:
Attackers:
The Iron Vulture is on a bombing run to Cape Suzette and saboteurs have taken out the cliff guns. A call has gone out to all pilots to stop the airship before it reaches the city. The attackers must take out all four engines before it reaches the desired turn count or the other side of the board.
Defenders:
The Pirate escorts must destroy all the attacking aircraft or delay them long enough to get the Iron Vulture to the other side of the map.
Test Play Notes:
The balance seems to work if the engines have 8 health each and the teams are balanced.
The first test play I had the zeppelin immobile in the center of the board and had the pirate escorts start in base contact with it and the mercenaries enter from any table edge. This was too chaotic.
Id start on opposing table edges and move the zeppelin each gear phase at speed 3 a medium and give the players a chance to build up speed before conflict.
Play Size:
Im running a 4x6 board and using the larger 28mm templates.
Im using 3 levels of flight stands to represent elevations.
Aircraft Customization:
For the convention I have all planes have Max Speed 5 Handling 3.
They all have front mounted machine guns.
They may choose up to 5 Cans worth of Upgrades from any Sponsor to allow player a bit of customization for play styles.
Primed piece of terrain ready to get painted! I wanted to build a piece of terrain that leaned into the fact that this is a spectator event.
Built a raised stand with seats from 3 school buses, two food trucks, and an ambulance to help them get to their high seats.
Can you think of anything else I should add before painting it up?
Any suggestions for the billboard?
Created my second sponsored team for Gaslands. This time a Miyazaki team based on Sonic & Tails from SEGA.
Tried to go for a bit of an oversized buggy for the Tails themed vehicle (figured he deserved to have the bigger car just like Toad in the Super Mario movie).
Sonic is mainly the colors and of course the rings on the side.
Hope you guys like it!
Carded and uncarded. The vehicle behind the tractor is from Jurassic World, I think, and has a great Gaslands feel to it.
So the rules are a little unclear and I would like to get some thoughts about this situation. Do sabotage token COST resistance points i.e. you lose 3 point per token or do the resistance points stay?
The 2 cars aren't from the seam team, this is going to be one member from a team that only uses german cars
Ive been customizing Hot wheels and matchbox cars for a couple of weeks now, the weapons and armor are easy enough to scratch build, however I'm having a difficult time creating plows, rams, and cow catchers from scratch. I don't have a 3d printer, and I also don't have the money to buy 3d printed weapons from online stores. Do you guys have any tips on how to make them from scratch? So far, the only rams and plows, etc. that I have on my cars are taken from matchbox construction vehicles.
Current project of more scatter terrain! Just need to figure out the doors
Two new vehicles for my team :)
So like 2 weeks ago i played my first game of gaslands. I hosted the game. I really enjoyed it we played with 1 car per person wich i think is too little because if you wipe out you are just sitting at the table for like half an hour. I did really enjoy the process of making everything.
i also made a cool video. sorry if the quality isnt that good i am new to painting and making video's (beside the small D&D/ warhammer that i did)
shall i also share a picture of every car individual?
what do you guys think? how did i do with the painting?
Jet powered off-roader, anyone? I love finding inspiration for ridiculous models.
Had terrain building scraps laying around. No idea if it'll work or be fun but I had a blast building it. Complete with off-road and janky jump short cuts for max carnage.
Recently got into gaslands and have been working on some gates and scatter terrain, will be adding more as I go but any suggestions or help would be appricated
Just arrived in the mail, and looks ready to play! I’ll add some weapons, and glue the wheels. It has a single seat, which is interesting.
