I just listened to an album I really never want to hear again (Brigadoon Soundtrack) and was thinking of some functionality that you could select that would create an album cull list as you journeyed to the dark corners of your collection with Gatefold. Maybe when you drop the records off periodically at thrift, you could then purge the list, and would remove from collection.
I have really enjoyed the couple of residencies that have shown up for me. They seem to have been very well thought out and made it fun trying to anticipate the next related album. There was a great Vangaurd one that took me to records I forgot I had. Very fun functionality.
I recently downloaded the app (love the idea!) and I was curious about the Clerk bot so I immediately subscribed so it could reference my entire collection and I could play around with it. The thing is, even though I'm on the subscribed plan the bot is clearly not referencing my entire collection. I could kind of tell from its analyses of my collection that it was only seeing part (focusing on some genres but not mentioning others that I also collect a lot of; putting artists with a couple of albums in my top 10 artists I own). So I started asking it how many Prince records I own and it would come back saying none (I own way too many Prince records). Same with Grateful Dead and others.
Any idea what might be causing this? Is it known behaviour? I'm eager to play around with it, but not really interested in answers on a mysterious random sampling of my collection.
[1] On the spin page, I added an early version of a feature to generate additional spin choices based upon a word, a mood, a phrase....
I have some cool things planned here including a bit of a "choose your own adventure" type of spin generation.
...Keep your eyes peeled... The CLERK just hired his first employee.
[2] Make sure you download this iOS update if you use CarPlay. There are a ton of improvements/fixes to Carplay.
After using the app for a bit and really liking this idea of the "clerk" - and I'm assuming that this is being done via an AI persona, I started to think about how cool it would be to have the clerk be based on the archetypal characters from High Fidelity - either a composite, or to be able to choose one. Maybe it's just me, but I like the idea of a snarky music snob clerk that would be praising my Guided By Voices record on one day and telling me to "go to the mall" when I have something basic in the queue.
Hey, new user here and I really like the application. I especially like the "spin of the day" feature. Overall the app feels really well done and the set up and sync with Discogs was really good - and I have a decent size library (1968 records).
One thing I noticed today is that I got the Pete Yorn album "Arrangingtime" as the spin of the day, and I was reading the blurb from the clerk (which is a really cool idea) and it felt like maybe an AI Hallucination? This was the first paragraph : Ten years since ArrangingTime dropped and people still forget Butch Walker parked himself behind the board for half of it, playing guitar and bass alongside Yorn. Walker brought that same blood-and-sawdust energy he used producing Matthew Sweet and his own solo records, stripping the slick sheen right off the LA pop machine.
But Butch Walker did not produce any of this record. He did some production on the "NightCrawler" record - I think that's why the clerk is getting confused?
On the Add Page, you can pate URLs in the search box to add from Discogs, Apple Music (itunes), and now Bandcamp.
