Hello. I am a promoter based in Korea. We run lots of international and local shows. Ive always been interested in lighting. Recently we have started managing a couple of artists and i thought now might be the time to get into it a bit more. Id like to be able to elevate their live shows (im aware this is gling to take some time - but it is a good excuse to get started).

Ive been watching videos and thanks to the shows we run, i habe some idea of the basics. But ive no idea where to start, i cant afford a console right off the bat. So some questions - sorry if they are dumb ones, but gotta start somewhere.

1. ⁠if i dont have a console, can i run the software from a mac?

2. Do i need to get the ‘on pc dmx key (starter?)
   Or Do i just need a node? If so, which one?

3. Once i have a dmx key / node in theory can i run small shows off that and a mac laptop. Id probably need an extra monitor? Or is it possible to do it all on a laptop screen?

4. What else do i need to know to get started? Lots of tutorials online. Thats good. I will probably try to do some kind of course as well to soeed the process up

I already feel like i am over my head. But keen to give it a go!

Is there a way to use a moving head as a follow spot using an external mouse (on console, not onPC)?

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble editing a variable.
It will act as a counter from 1 to 10 — one macro incrementing it, the other decrementing it.

I can't find any way to initialize it to 1 only if it doesn't exist yet: any test on this variable just returns Error #54 "Var not found", which kills the line meant to handle that case.

It's probably really simple, but I can't figure out how to do it.

CMD line preferred, but Lua is fine.

Now what would you recommend an intermediate? Maybe what you use every time? What Tipps you have, Tipps on Timecode

I am trying to make a master size fader for all my pan, tilt and flyout fx on my busking file, just like a speed master for the mutiple effects. What is the best way to do so?

I'm actually having fun configuring my different DAWs for MA2 (with the challenge of never using MIDI to communicate, only WebSocket).

I'm trying to find a "dynamic" way to change the fixed page of a playback view. I already know the approach of "fixing to a reference page, then copying the one you want to the reference", but I'd like to know if there is a cleaner way to do it — by telling MA2, via Lua or a macro, "this playback view is fixed to page XX".

For now, I can see two possible approaches:

• achieving a "dynamic clone" of two pages, though I don't think bidirectional sync is possible
• passing a variable as a page number directly to the playback view by telling it "fix to page X" — but I can't figure out how to target a specific window

It would be far more user-friendly to work this way when switching a dedicated page, especially modifying it!

I'm running the latest MA2 version (not the Lua version from the famous 3.2.5 haha)

Hello, tomorrow i will be running a medium sized show using for the first time a Grandma2 Light rather than an OnPc system. This is my first experience with this, and i have already been told that the screens are locked, so i moved all my views from 4 to 3.

What i'm really concerned about is the lack of the six faders from the command wing area. Can i use the small "screen 1" to view my virtual faders in some way, or do i have to switch to buttons?
