Sleeping Dogs released in 2012 and the combat flow still beats most modern games. What actually competes with this?

Need help finding game.

Hello,

Maybe a year or 2 ago there was a game with the player models in swat gear and the main selling point was the first person bullet time or third person bullet time effect that they could pull off. It was a PVP style game and I think it was pretty close quarters. The color pallet was very dark, mostly gray/greenish(?). There was a clip of the model on the floor doing a 360 and it showed off hell well the player models reacted to the positions. I just got a PC and I’ve been trying to play it forever. Thanks!\

Edit: It was out of action!

What is the difference between old bullet time games and new bullet time games IYO? ( in term of combat, level design, pacing etc)

If i were to summarized it.. besides the obvious " most bullet time shooters are FPS nowadays" is the fact that nowadays shootdodge has been replaced with sliding.

Tons of games has sliding as a mechanics like trepang2, sprawl zero, better than dead. And dropkick is a mechanics that im seeing more and more of.

Shootdodge mechanic was already very rare in Fps game and i guess It's not as satisfying as TPS where you see your character doing flips.

As of late I'm seeing games implementing "kill to refill your meter" as oppose to "your meter gets refilled overtime" like in old game.

I donno whether It's always a good idea because not every player can pull of kills quickly.. So it can get very difficult for them to get kills continuously and getting bullet time meter back.

But i like the new weapon throwing at enemies face mechanics that many new games has (sprawl zero, anger foot, severed steel, 007 first light). I wish old game had similar thing like that but then again its probably inspired by john wick films and it Didn't came out back then.

Whats your opinion?

Can a retro/boomer shooter be considered also as a gunfu game ?

Like if a retro shooter (Doom/Wolfenstein/Duke Nukem style for example) had bullet time mechanics would it qualify in your opinion to be classified as a gunfu game or is that too much of a stretch ? I'm asking because I don't know examples of games that may try to check both boxes but I'd love to know if there are games like that.
