The word "nanny" used for caretaker is derived from Hindustani kinship word "नानी/نانِی" (nānī)?
reddit.comAsked this sub how to teach Urdu reading a month ago. replies turned into an actual app. need your help with one last thing.
so this thread was me a month back, asking how you'd teach an absolute beginner to read Urdu.
wasn't expecting much. but a lot of you wrote really thoughtful stuff. the order to introduce the alphabet in, why recognition has to come before writing, why isolated letters in pronunciation drills are kinda pointless. i printed half the comments out and built the curriculum around them.
app's called Nuqta. a phone version of how you'd actually sit with a kid and a Qaida book. reading lessons plus a speaking tab for pronunciation (only on words and short sentences, like a few of you insisted).
it's almost ready. only thing i can't decide on is the icon. 5 options below. if you have 20 seconds, please tell me which one you'd actually want sitting on your home screen, and why. this will be very helpful.
also attaching one screenshot of the home screen so you get a feel for what i'm actually building. not posting the rest yet, will share more screens and progress over the coming days if people are curious.
