Hello. I'm a soon-to-be newcomer of Homestuck who's planning to read the webcomic in the future.

A few months ago, I had downloaded The Unofficial Homestuck Collection 2.0. I was initially going to read Homestuck with the UHC, but coincidentally or not, the launch of the rebuilt MS Paint Adventures site and the subsequent re-release of Homestuck took place not long afterward. I checked the rebuilt site for a moment, and it doesn't seem to have any technical issues, unlike what had happened to the original site, but I'm not really sure if it has any significant differences in comparison to the UHC.

Thus, I decided to ask advice from people here to figure out where to read Homestuck on. Would you recommend me to continue with my original intention to read Homestuck via the UHC? Or would you suggest me to use the rebuilt MS Paint Adventures site instead? And what reasons do you give for your recommendation?

I'm pretty sure your answers will be very helpful and help me decide on which option I'll choose.

While I think the Epilogues are the definition of a mixed bag for me, I've come around from exclusively feeling as though it was unnecessary in every aspect to appreciating the efforts to at least put a spin on things while giving more content for the fans. While I do think Homestuck 2 is also kind of a mess, the things that came from it after it finally found its footing can be fun to talk about.

However, Jane and Jade are just.... so weirdly out of character to me it's kind of insane.

I'll tackle Jane first, since it's more egregious in my eyes. Jane literally never had any stated or indicated issues with trolls, she's never been hinted to be racist or vindinctive, abusive or nearly as petty as she is in the Epilogues. She's basically Hitler in Meat and I get that she's being influenced by Ultimate Dirk to act as an adversary (and I have a lot of thoughts about Ultimate Dirk but I refuse to get into it), but the reasoning feels so weak? It really feels like Jane fans got shafted because the authors thought it'd be easy to have her be an antagonist even at the cost of characterization.

Jade in One timeline feels like a sexpest, or like, a beard (which is unnecessary bc Dave and Karkat are already bisexual and the closet is not a thing in troll culture). Dave and Karkat seem to want nothing to do with her romantically, and only seems to have been obligated because they feel guilty? Which, on top of the fact both have been hinted to have had strong feelings for jade, I don't think either one of them would ever just.... allow her to be in a polyamorous relationship with them if they didn't have feelings for her in the first place. It feels like she's just in that position PURELY so she feels like an obstacle in Dave and Karkat's relationship, and I think even if you didn't like pairing them together, I think everyone can agree Dave and Karkat aren't just people who would just allow themselves to get into this situation, especially since Dave and Karkat were dating in the retconned timeline. It just feels so weird that neither one would be like "no jade, we're not interested" or something along those lines.

And then Jade in the other timeline just spends all her time being possessed by Alt Calliope. So Jade feels more like a plot device in one scenario, and literally is a plot device in another.

Anyone else feels like the authors had it out for these two? Or is it just me?

I haven’t read homestuck in a while, like, a long while. And I was going to start a voice acting thing and was wondering if anyone knew if the ancestors even need VA’s? I know that they didn’t really like.. talk the same way everyone else did, but I remember that Mindfang had a diary that was there and stuff??

I can’t just “skim through homestuck” like I could with a different project, so does anyone who has read it more recently know?

I thought about this for a while because trolls don't raise children (as far as I know) there lucus raises them. So why do female trolls have boobs? Boobs are used for breastfeeding infants. Does anyone have answers?

ik the alpha kids' session was void bc it didnt have a time or space player, and thus non-scratchable. but what would've happened if it had, and they scratched it again? would the game have just reverted back to the first set of players (beta kids)? exploded? a secret third thing?

I admit that his route is not very well-written, but I love him as a character. He’s like a fusty Victorian. I have met plenty of college kids who act like old people in my time, and he fits that trope very well. He also reminds me of Franz Reichelt, whom I am deeply interested in. I don’t know any Homestuck fans who like him, though, and he’s consistently ranked very low on canon troll tier lists. Why do people hate him?
