Maeve is upset she cannot have McDonald's

Note: Maeve only eats Hill's Metabolic + Urinary kibble and Hill's Metabolic wet food. She has thyroid/metabolic issues that make losing weight extremely difficult. She was also hit by a vehicle when she was young so she has a permanent limp. Currently, she is 81 lbs (down from almost 100 when we started her weightloss journey). Other dog is 67 pounds.

When my brother-in-law (13yo) visited us, he asked to take Maeve on a walk. He ended up taking her INTO McDonald's. He said she just got pets, but I feel like he must have slipped her a chicken nugget because now every time we walk by McDonald's, this happens!

Our Husky mix rescue

This young lady is Clover, she's 1 1/2 years old, Husky / Pyrenees mix. Her weight seems to have leveled out at around 87 pounds. A local shelter saved the entire litter from some pretty horrible people, and we took this sweetheart home when she was about 6 or 8 weeks old. She and her "sister" (7 year old Pyr mix) are besties and love catching critters together, as you can see from the first pic.

On days life doesn't permit walks, how do you maintain stimulation?

Hi all! Sorry if this is a long read!

Last year I was pregnant, but even nearly into the third trimester I tried my best to keep up my huskies walking schedule. Third trimester hit and I had to give up the runs, but walks remained. Well, now the baby is here. He was born in the winter so the huskies had the snow and cold to keep them busy. They're incredibly active on their own in the winter, to the point that if a walk is skipped they're still getting enough energy out by wrestling each other. The winter was my saviour for keeping them entertained, but it's seemingly gone from winter to burning heat in the blink of an eye.

I know they haven't been getting enough stimulation, it's been killing my heart lately to feel like I'm not doing enough for them, their behaviour has gotten worse and I can tell they're getting bored. Luckily my baby is finally at the point where I can take him out, so walks are going to start again! Today it wasn't hot, so I had their harnesses by the front door and was waiting for my baby to wake up so we could all go on a walk.

I looked outside. I saw huskies. I grabbed the toaster, put some toast down. Looked back outside, no huskies. They escaped.

My heart damn near dropped out of my ass, I felt like I was going to throw up. I was home alone with a baby, I couldn't even run out to find them on my own. Thank God I have lovely neighbors who hopped in the car and found them within 10 minutes of me realizing they were gone.

I feel like it's all my fault. I keep blaming myself for not giving them enough stimulation. I plan to start going harder on walks, but today has me panicking for days where it's hot this summer.

I WILL be walking them more, but days I can't what can I do to help them burn off more energy or get adequate mental stimulation?

Sincerely,

A slightly hysterical mom to two huskies and one human baby 😅

Husky Training Regrets

Hi everyone! I’m a relatively new husky owner. I have a husky/hound mix who is 7 years old and now I have a 8 month old purebred husky. She is completely different when it comes to training! My old girl learned all the basic commands so much faster. My puppy is getting better but her weakness is want to jump on anyone who gets near her whether they pay her attention or not. Training is helping - still a long way to go.

This got me thinking is there anything else I should be working on that I will regret years later that I didn’t? I’ve heard mess with their toes and brush/blow dry them. Which she has grown to like now. Is there anything else?
