Question: are there hyraxes in San Diego zoo still?

I’m gonna be in San Diego next month at the end of the month and I plan to visit the zoo. Do you guys know if they still have hyraxes there id love to see the lil creatures 🥺

Dassies photographed at the Bronx Zoo

I visited the Bronx Zoo this past weekend and managed to snap some pics of the dassies through the telescope. It felt like a celebrity sighting. The photoshoot was briefly interrupted when the troop of baboons they share an enclosure with chased them off their rock.

The beasts were out this time!

After having no luck at the Bronx zoo in April and seeing people share that they saw them there more recently I tried again today and saw them! Second and third pic were through one of the little monocular they have at that exhibit.

First time sculpting ever. Made my girlfriend a hyrax for our 3rd anniversary. (Full process)

Attempt #1: Cheap off-brand polymer clay melted in the oven directly onto the foil skeleton.

Attempt #2: Switched to air-dry clay! Repairing cracks made him extra round and left his paws floating above the ground.

Final result! Fully painted with acrylics and sealed.
