I’m a Pakistani university student studying Software Engineering, and I’ve noticed that Indian students seem to have a really strong presence in tech—whether it’s programming, open-source, competitive coding, internships, or just building projects.

For Indian students here: what are you doing differently? Is it the university environment, YouTube/online resources, competitive programming culture, starting early, internships, or simply having a massive tech community around you?

I’m not asking from a political angle—I genuinely want to learn what Pakistani students could adopt from your approach.

If you’re an Indian student, I’d especially appreciate hearing about your actual routine: what you study, how many hours you put in, which resources you use, and how you got your first internship/project.

So if one were to go for a mind clearing walk, where would they go in the campus? Not looking for lakeside or sameer hills. Beyond that are there places where one can go and sit quietly for sometime?

Why is Prof. Virendra Singh like this.

He take 1 hr 30 mins to 1 hr 45 mins long class in a slot of 1 hour.

I guess he intentionally picked the evening slot and he knew it will be easy to extend the class without any objections.

We tried telling him multiple times, please finish early. So one day he came and explicitly said. I will teach 1.5 hr as course is very big, if you don't like it drop the course.

I mean man, I want to study the subject hence I have taken it but that don't give you the authority to waste my time. Courses are planned to be completed in 1 sem and it's your duty as a teacher to teach efficiently.

And I have read on many forums that he will just go very fast during end classes and overall in his class you will not learn a lot and he just keep repeating content multiple times.

Can someone please tell me how to cope with this.🥲🥲

Not everyone has the resources to study hard to get into IIT. I see low quality people getting into IITs because they studied hard and followed the system obediently but aren't capable to make a genuine original contribution through their education to actually solve a real world problem which really needs to be solved. These low quality people after getting into IIT, brag about the college tag instead of taking it just as a platform to actually use their potential (which they do not have) to serve the humanity by solving real problems through technology. Intellectually inferior people are getting into "prestigious" institutes just because they fit into the system, which is why India is a backward country.

Which hostel mess is the best and which one is the worst?

Is finding an insect in the food so common in some hostel messes?

What actually helps biotech kinda profiles for non-core shortlists — PORs, clubs, internships, case comps?

I heard someone from our dpt batch got a great non-core placement last year, but some people say they were just an outlier and it's not realistic for the rest of us. Would love to hear if that's actually true.

I am astonished that such a old institute do not have detailed guidelines regarding resume making everything is being conveyed through whatsapp groups. The document related to verification appers to be created in rush and by some class 12th student. Even on query portal there are two opposite answer for the same thing.

They are messing up right now when things are totally under their control.

No doubt iit bombay is facing lack of companies in tech they are totally mismanaged.

All other hostel mess have chicken/fish on the menu, but in past three weeks I've never seen any non-veg item(except for eggs in breakfast) in H11 menu. Is it because of some religious month going on or it's always been this way?

Hi, so this is a post about how much fundamental understanding Indian students lack in STEM

Let's Start with hydrogen bs - it's not a good fuel option not even close to a good fuel so much hype for hydrogen fuel, hydrogen batteries yada yada

First of all a lot of people don't understand mass units

We measure energy density of liquid fuels in litre

Hydrogen as gas at 1atm is about = 120mj/kg

In litre = 0.010 mj/lt

In liquid state = 120 again per kg, mj

But in litre = 8.5

Gasoline somewhere around 32 mj per liter

See the difference now the problem is liquid hydrogen is hell cold it's near 0 kelvin

It will be super expensive

And even if we get liquid hydrogen

It doesn't have nearly enough energy as gasoline

8.5 vs 32 🤷‍♀️ Now next problem making of hydrogen -

Where the hell will you get hydrogen From Water

1 it will require electricity meaning more energy waste And fuel will get more expensive

2 you need fresh water

3 how the hell will you transfer fuel from one place to another Hydrogen leak through almost everything

The tanks got be rocket fuel tanks grade

Read about Apollo rocket how they sealed hydrogen inside the fuel tanks

4 hydrogen as gas is useless no more than 0.010 mj energy at 1 atm

If you liquefy it again it's super hard making of liquid hydrogen and even after then no where close to gasoline

Now the major problem is that actual engineering students

Chemical engineering students believe that it's a good option for fuel

Not all of em, but a lot of them

And this is just one example of how poor understanding of STEM they have

On paper smart 9.2 cgpa vs actual real understanding of science

If you post about biofuel, hyperloop, solar road, under water data center, rocket engine (non reusable)

Recycling plastic

The list goes on and on
