Feynman said real intelligence has one test — can you explain it simply? Most educated people fail it immediately

And he spent decades watching highly educated people use complexity to disguise the fact they didn't actually understand what they were talking about.

His rule was simple — if you can't explain it plainly, you don't understand it. You've just memorised it.

That's not intelligence. That's performance.

"Never confuse education with intelligence. A person can have a PhD and still be an idiot."

Who in your life mistakes their education for their intelligence — and do you think they know?

What does iq of 115 mean with adhd?

hi guys, recently i have been tweaking about my mensa iq score. I want to pursue either theoretical physics or pure mathematics but i honestly dont know if my fluid iq is enough. I have heard that adhd taxes the iq scores of FSIQ in which i scored the 115, if that is so can my fluid iq be higher and by how much? (kindly overlook any linguistic imperfections) EDIT:;: im unmedicated

I have an IQ of 85 and my siblings have it higher than 120. How is it possible that there is a difference of almost 40 points between siblings if we were born of the same parents?

does being trilingual affect verbal iq scores?

I randomly decided to take online iq tests. I took mensa norway and openpyschometrics. For reference, my age is 16. I speak 3 languages, English as my native language.

As you might have seen, my Verbal IQ is trash. Does verbal IQ correlate to one's ability to speak in the language?

Does being bilingual/trilingual affect Verbal IQ scores? Is it possible to improve Verbal IQ scores?

Entrance exam

I'm 29 years old and I took an Entrance exam in a University, I'm late for college. Took some time to make money and they said I scored 121 in my IQ test. And the staff said I should take a major in Biology. But I was gonna take a major in Culinary cause I like to cook. I don't even know what it means to have a high IQ, all I wanted was to learn how to cook. But now they're forcing me to do biology. I hate math. I hate numbers with letters. It stresses me out, man.

My IQ is 83. How is this possible??

I’m 24M and I did a professionally administered iq test when I was 16. My IQ ended up being an 83. Ever since that test, I’ve had a difficult time making sense of it.

My verbal comprehension and visual spacial were both average, while my processing speed, working memory, and fluid reasoning were all low average to very low/borderline.

I scored higher average in verbal memory but my visual memory score was very low/borderline.

My total reading composite was average, although my essay composite was low average.

Lastly, my mathematics composite and math fluency composite were both very low/borderline to extremely low.

I was diagnosed with mild autism and a math learning disability.

I understand why my math scores were severely low given that I have a math learning disability. But why is my working memory, processing speed, visual memory and fluid reasoning scores that LOW?? Is it my autism?

Overall, I feel like I function pretty normally, but I struggle to fully understand certain board games like monopoly or catan. I feel like there’s just too much going on for me to process mentally when I play those games and i’m not sure why. I’m from a south asian family, and I often feel like everyone else is more intelligent than me, including my 10 year old cousins.

I find it hard to believe that my IQ is that low though. Like I know that i’m not the smartest tool in the shed, but I graduated from design school (making honours multiple semesters) and got a corporate job as a UI Designer at a large company when I was 21.

I hear online that learning disabilities often skew your iq results, often making them inaccurate but idk. Am I really that slow and is my IQ representing my general ability accurately?

If these results are an accurate reflection of my ability, how tf am i gonna function in the real world (buying a home, travelling, spontaneous situations, etc)??

gap between fluid reasoning and other scores — how should I understand it?

I had cognitive testing done when I was 15 years and 7 months old. I’m not a native speaker / I’m from a different cultural background, and before the test I had been pretty isolated for a couple months. I’d also been dealing with anxiety/depression before that, though I wasn’t especially anxious during the test itself.

The confusing part is that my overall score came out around the 16th percentile, but my fluid reasoning was average-high. My working memory and/or processing speed were much lower.

I’m not asking anyone to diagnose me or tell me my “real IQ.” I’m just trying to understand how this kind of uneven profile is usually interpreted.

Can lower working memory or processing speed drag down the overall score that much? And in a case like this, would fluid reasoning give a better picture of reasoning ability than the overall score? Also, could language/cultural background or recent depression/isolation affect scores like working memory, processing speed, or verbal comprehension?

Any honest answers are appreciated.

does iq can decrease ?

At first sorry for my english. Idk if im in the right subreddit, if i ask this question its bcs i think my iq decreased. Yk when i was 5 yo i was littteraly a genius, the psy wanted to me to skip one or two class and i was curious like nobody else, but finally I sont skip a class bcs my father dont want it and now, im 17 and i feel lightly superior to the normies but nothing crazy. For exemple in math i was like an ovni for my classmates and now im average. So, do you think my iq decreased and do you have some solutions to fix It or a good iq test to have an idea of my iq?

A sum of scaled scores of 84, to which FSIQ score is associated?

Hi everyone, I'd like to know a sum of scaled scores of 84 to which FSIQ is associated. Does it change anything knowing I'm from Italy and not from the US?

Second: are the scaled scores of singular subtest that I had on Wisc-IV hypotetically transferrable on wais V to sum them and calculate the FSIQ?

Thank you in advance

How limited a person with an iq of 92 can get and where exactly he gets limited?

So i got a result of 92... Below average... It seemed that the thing that affected the most was how much time it took me to process things... Getting a result of 70 something....

The rest where average...

I always had hard time learning at school and even outside of that... In things that i have interest in i have the same problem... Forgetting or having to re-watch re-read many... Many times and sometimes just failing.

Is this a website bug?

https://preview.redd.it/03991dfhvx8h1.png?width=1496&format=png&auto=webp&s=8095aac261f4054bda29e30bdc07ba63550ef95f

Found something interesting I would like to share.

I'm a high school student who's recently been in the IQ rabbit hole, I just keep digging myself deeper because there's so much to learn and my curiosity is definitely digging me deeper. I just want to receive confirmation that the 59 IQ is meaningless for my own sanity, lol.

just completed the CAIT figure weights ( received 115 iq ) to see if there's any variation compared to the CORE figure weights ( 63rd percentile) I believe that I got a higher mark on the CAIT , because I artificially inflated it by doing the CORE one just days ago.

Has anyone else received a bug that's in any way similar? If it's not, then it could've auto-calculated CPI based on figure weights ( I rushed it in the end, went purely on instincts for the last 10 questions).

Otherwise, there is obviously no way they could've calculated CPI, as I haven't completed either Digit Span or Symbol search. I guess I will have to ignore my IQ for now until I've completed Digit Span or symbol search. Really hope that they don't consider the "59" iq after i've completed those. It seems unlikely they wouldn't consider it because they've already calculated it into my CAIT composite, since it only shows 106 iq with 65.5% percentile.

Any help would be appreciated in removing this anomaly, but i'd figured it would be unlikely as there isn't much I can do.

Not sure if I entered the right flair as I am new, correct me if I am wrong.

Edit: my qri which is below average, my working memory, short term memory and overall processesing speed, is doo doo compared to my other intelligences that are one full standard deviation from the norm (verbal, spatial). Perhaps this isnt bug after all?
