Simons true backstory
hi all I apologize if this is already been discussed in this sub, and spoilers ahead for Iron Lung, but I’m really curious as to Simon‘s full backstory and story.
I watched iron lung only once, but I’ve watched so many YouTube and TikTok videos on people explaining it and including their own theories because if I’m one thing, I’m a sucker for understanding something. Anyways, and again spoilers ahead, we know that Simon is from Eden, got captured by the COI, then has to complete the mission on the SM-13. We know he’s an unreliable narrator. We are told from his account he wasn’t at fault for the Filament Station, but in the movie it’s account that he has “more blood on his hands than any other brother of eden”. I have yet to come across a summary or youtube video really discussing who he is, and what about him is truth.
some questions i have:
what is his overall backstory leading up to waking up in the SM-13?
Was he born after the quiet rapture?
why does he not want to talk about his religious opinions?
was he truly at fault for Filament Station?
does he remember his past while in the SM-13? are flashbacks truly for the audience to gain plot understanding or is he remembering? if so- why can’t he remember his past?
the last question i ask because, in theroy in an AU where simon gets rescued, what would he remember? would he remember his life on eden?
you can also just use this post as a general discussion for the movie as well, i have honestly still yet to grasp and understand the whole thing (especially the ending) so feel free to enlighten me please thanks! i love gathering different takes and theories
