... Our new kaiju bios?
I spent the whole episode waiting for the big text to pop up and was every surprised for that not to happen after so many seasons of it being the norm.
Honestly I rather like it.
Rate 1-10 if y'all agree on these takes I made if S.H.MA or Hiya should make these figures in future.
Would you choose to be stepped on (gently) by your favorite giant kaiju or held (gently) in the hands/hand of the giant kaiju?
(Plz mention the kaiju and choice in the replies)
Unlike in other genres like horror where practical effects are usually prioritized by modern creatives it feels like any new kaiju movie using suitmation is just a pipe dream nowadays.
Don’t get me wrong I understand why it’s not used at all anymore outside of TV but it bums to see every single prominent Kaiju franchise only uses cgi now.
It only will get worse from now too. Minus One absolutely deserved the Oscar but it also cemented the fact that kaiju films don’t need guys in rubber suits anymore to make something great so why bother bringing it back?

Yo!
I'm an artist and I'm crazy autistic for Kaiju (I call it being "Kaiju Pilled," or "Zilla Maxxing")
I put together a daily drawing challenge for the month and called it Kaijuly, gonna be trying to bust one out every day. Starting today with the original Godzilla from 1954! Rewatched the movie drawing this, holds up so much better than one would expect.
If you do art, I encourage you to draw along!
My Wishlist so far of Kaiju action figures to get from either S.H.MonsterArts and Hiya Toys, now give me y'all's wishlists.

**D.R.A.G.M.A.**s are genetically-engineered kaiju that appear in the Godzilla: The Series episode, Future Shock.
ABILITIES:Resistance: The D.R.A.G.M.A.s have very strong hides which are resistant to Godzilla's atomic breath.
Flight: The D.R.A.G.M.A.s have large wings that give them the ability to fly.
Adaptation: What made the D.R.A.G.M.A.s so dangerous was their ability to overcome any obstacle through real-time trial & error adjustment.
Regeneration: The D.R.A.G.M.A.s possess high regenerative abilities, allowing them to recover from almost all hazardous environments, human weaponry and Kaiju attacks.
Acid blood: The D.R.A.G.M.A.s have sulfuric acid for blood, making it impossible for anyone to defeat a single member of the species without getting harmed in the process.
Reproduction: The D.R.A.G.M.A.s can reproduce asexually at a very high rate.
WEAKNESSES:Electricity seems to be the only element that can affect the D.R.A.G.M.A.s in a significant way. The only arsenal humanity has that can harmed the D.R.A.G.M.A.s are the weapons from the alternate future that fired a powerful electrical projectile. When H.E.A.T was escaping from the creatures, lightning struck at a pursuing D.R.A.G.M.A, seemingly killing it. At their infant stage, the D.R.A.G.M.A.s have yet to develop their hides. As a result, they are left vulnerable to Godzilla's attacks.
I don't know if this is a hot but while I love old school Japanese kaiju movies, the scenes of cities being destroyed often feel a little empty. The sets feel separate from everything else which can bother me a little.
There's a few shots of panic and people running away but overall the sets feel rather empty which I guess why don't misunderstand.
In Gorgo though there's so many moving parts of the scenes of London being destroyed.
We see the streets clog with mobs, we see people in the buildings trying to get out, we see people jumping out of windows or trying to escape across the rooftops.
There's so much going on and it genuinely feels like chaos which is fantastic. The red sky making it feel like Hell itself has been unleashed.
There's people being crushed or trampled, fire engines and police cars trying to navigate through masses of humanity trying to escape.
The set and the actors don't feel separate here and it genuinely feels big. It's what I was expecting from Godzilla 54 which is one of my favorite movies and the Tokyo scenes are great but I can't help but feel like they could have been better.
