Recently, I've been seeing a lot of reels and posts from people in other districts appreciating Kanyakumari—our places, culture, food, slang, and overall vibe. Honestly, it's interesting to see, and I'm curious about why there's suddenly so much attention.
What makes it feel a bit strange to me is that I've experienced the opposite in the past. Our slang is quite different from standard Tamil, and I remember having discussions with friends where I argued that some words used in Kanyakumari slang are actually rooted in older or pure Tamil usage. Back then, instead of trying to understand it, some people dismissed it or looked down on the way we spoke. Now, many of the same things are being appreciated and celebrated.
Of course, attention brings both positives and negatives.
On the positive side, increased interest can boost tourism, help local businesses, and make more people aware of the natural beauty and culture of Kanyakumari. Greater visibility can also encourage efforts to protect and preserve our environment and heritage. I've also noticed that many people from other districts who have lived here often say that Kanyakumari is an awesome place because of its beautiful nature, greenery, beaches, hills, and peaceful atmosphere.
At the same time, there are some concerns. More visitors can sometimes mean more littering, overcrowding, and damage to natural areas if people don't act responsibly. Civic sense becomes very important when tourism grows.
I also feel that not every beautiful place needs to become a viral destination. Some peaceful spots remain special because they're quiet and less crowded. I've seen local residents complain that certain places changed after influencers started visiting, and I can understand that concern. A location can lose some of its charm when it becomes overwhelmed by visitors.
I'm not against people visiting or appreciating Kanyakumari at all. In fact, I'm happy that more people are discovering the good things about our district. I just hope that appreciation comes with respect—for the local culture, the language, the people, and the environment.
What do you all think?

Hey everyone, trying to break out of the usual routine and find some new daily hangout spots.
I'm looking for places that actually have a great atmosphere—not just "Instagram aesthetic," but a genuinely cool vibe where you can comfortably sit and talk for a few hours. Whether it’s a great coffee spot, a nice restro with good food, or a decent place to grab a drink.
Where are you guys spending your evenings lately?😬🥃

Not every future pilot is in an aviation subreddit. That's why I'm posting this here. We're running online DGCA CPL ground classes in Air Navigation, Meteorology, and Air Regulations, conducted by qualified Commercial Pilots. Happy to answer any questions.
Hello everyone.
We have a roundabout in Nagercoil, the POTHYS roundabout/roundana.
I go by the roundabout everyday and have learnt that mostly many of them use it incorrectly.
___________________
The vehicles already in the roundabout have priority to exit them and then ones waiting to enter the round about are supposed wait are expected/required to give way / wait until there is a space to move.
The main thing to keep in mind is that the vehicles already in the roundabout shouldn't stop, slow down or give way to the ones waiting to enter the roundabout. It should have a flow.
_____________________
The indication part.
Lets imagine
You want to turn left / first exit. Use the left indicator.
To go straight, no indication until you pass the 1 st exit. Once crossed the first exit, indicate left to let others know that you are exiting
So lets say you come from chettikulam towards POTHYS and want to go to Duthie School Road. I would,
Stop
Give way to moving vehicles. And once clear
Indicate right and start moving.
After passing/crossing the exits would indicate left to let others know i am exiting towards the 3rd exit. (duthie school).
_______________________
Also, if you are someone reading I request you to stop at a pedestrian/ zebra crossing to let the pedestrians cross. they have the priority to cross even if they are waiting, the vehicles must stop if the pedestrians are waiting.
Drive responsible.

To make the roundabout thing more sensible, i will share a link in the comments.
Finally , ellam naladhave nadakum nu nambikkai oda ooruku varen! Idk how long I'll be there but ponadhum tiruparappu la oru kuliyal ah podanum bhaaa! 😭🔥
Like I'm okay as long as they don't bring their north indian stuff here but In kanyakumari they have their own temples and soon they might elect their own part BJP and bring their own ankdbakt rules and etc etc, and destroying our religious harmony.
Just give ur thought and explore other options aswell.
I’ve been returning to Kanniyakumari after 7years in Chennai, idk what to do in Kanniyakumari i don’t have people here to socialise, I need people to talk with and to jam music and to explore the places in Kanniyakumari, I’ve heard of this sub reddit by my discord friend so trying out ways to separate my loneliness from me in here :))
It's so over for kanyakumari. They're violating our nanjil nadu and all we can do is sit and watch.
Guys! As the title suggests, I'm planning a road trip to Rameswaram and Kanyakumari for the upcoming weekend by rental car. How safe are the roads and the route if we want to drive overnight? Any route that we should particularly take or avoid?
Any other suggestions are also welcome.
Hello everyone.
It's been a while since my passport expired. I am planning to renew it.
I have heard it can be renewed at the Head post in Nagercoil.
Could anyone please help me with the process if you have done it through the post office?
TIA
