Clones with white grille sounds like the real deal?

I got tired of breaking my Portapro and ksc75 due to my clumsiness. They both break from me accidentally stepping on my wires smashing them on the floor.

Thought of giving these clone diy Portapro drivers a try. I had to say they're suspiciously similar sounding to my portapros? Equally thick midbass and crispy highs.

I was expecting a teeny sound or a bloated mudbass but this is as accurate as I remember my portapros sound like?

Just sharing my joy. And I paid 1/4th of the cost.

I need help disassembling the headband for a visual mod.

Hey guys! I recently bought a pair of Portapros secondhand for use as a cool looking IEM replacement with my 80s inspired music project. I love the look overall but want to strip the headband of my all-black model to expose the steel underneath. To preface, I prefer not to buy a 3rd party replacement or dish out another 30+ dollars for an official one. What I’m struggling with is disassembling the headband itself. There’s a single thread somewhere about separating the two springsteel pieces to fully expose the bands but I found it to be inaccurate and likely about a different model. Has anyone attempted successfully to take the spring-steel bands apart from each other? I have been trying to get them past the plastic sliders to no avail and I’m worried I’ll damage the earpiece assembly if I poke around blindly trying to find fasteners there myself. Would love some pointers. Thanks :)

3d printed a soul eater shell for the plug and the porta pro

I didnt like the headband for the porta pro cuz it hurt my ears after a while so i replaced it with the ksc75's earhook. When disembling the shell for the plug i used a soldering iron for the first time and it was very frustrating.

Will Using KSC75 Grills With KSC35s Change the Sound Or Are Their Grills the Same?

I know the drivers are different, I'm just talking about the plastic grills that snap over the drivers. I did the Kramer mod on my KSC35s to increase the bass but messed up by drilling too many holes, including one in the center, when you're only supposed to drill holes in the outer rim to increase bass. I have a pair of KSC75s and was thinking of removing those grills to use with the KSC35s and just drilling around the outer rim to improve bass ...

KSC35 vs PP

hello everyone! first time posting here. i recently got a pair of the KSC35 wired ear clips so i could use the speakers with my porta pro headband. now having them in person, i realize they look the exact same as the porta pro speakers. are they essentially the same? or is there something that makes them different?

KPH35i

Well. Headband broke on my KPH30i’s (again) so I figured I’d put the drivers on a KPH40 headband. I’m sure someone’s done this already but I figured I’d share :)

Does this mod kit work well with the Koss Porta Pro?

I’ve been looking into this mod recently. I was thinking about doing it because my Porta Pros (which I use every day) fell victim to my kitten, and the cable broke into three pieces. I’d been thinking about doing a mod, and now I’m forced to rewire them, but I saw this and I like the quality of the materials (according to the reviews, it’s pretty sturdy aluminum). I’ve only seen this mod on the KSC75s, and I even saw a note saying they did NOT recommend doing it on the Porta Pros. However, before making any impulse purchases, I want to confirm my research with the experts (you guys).

What do you think of this mod kit for the Porta Pros?

How to do a KPH40 > Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 Driver Swap

How’s it going!

First off, I dont even know if this is possible or has already been done but I wanted to ask how to do this.

I love my KPH40’s and wish I could make them more portable so they are easier to take places (folding up to put in case and pocket). I bought a Porta Pro thanks to the prime day (week) sale that I plan to swap out the driver housings with the KPH40 to fix the portability but I’m wondering how far I can go, this is Koss *mods* after all.

So naturally, I wanted to know if it is possible to put the KPH40 drivers/driver assemblies *into* the Porta Pro Wireless’ chassis to use the wireless functionality and do it without sacrificing the great sound quality of the KPH40’s.

How would I go about doing this if it’s possible at all?

Thanks!

Prime Day (more like week now) going hard

Couldn’t pass up the deal. Got some spare yaxi pads lying around, just begging to be used. Thinking I should driver swap these 2.

Deciding between KPH40 Retro and Porta Pros?

Which should I choose between the 2? Since the KPH40 Retro uses the same drivers as the Porta Pros, will there even be any difference in how they sound or is the main difference between the 2 just in the headbands?

I actually already have a pair of KSC75s with a headband and Yaxi pads that I really enjoy but now I'm just looking for something that sounds slightly different.

The Ultimate Koss Mod

Hi This is a long over due Project of mine, I got bored last winter and so I have actually built this headphone, and built it however it just took longer tuning it than I thought it would be due to life happening. Sorry if the Video is a bit too quiet.

To do this mod you would have to disassemble the earcups of the AKG and desolder the wires on the Koss than you essentially swap out the driver of the of the AKG and inset the Koss as it is into the headphone, no Kramer mod (I don't trust myself to not just stab through the Koss driver), and you would keep the Koss foam in it too, one thing to note is that you would have to use a soldering iron to melt or something to trim down the 3 and 9 o'clock position so the internal mechanism of the AKG's hinge can actually fit back in.

The Sound without the tuning foam the treble is too sharp, and the foam helps with taming that, it also sound too bloated with the Velour pad, thats why I went with the Micro Sueded pads. overall the headphone sound very tactile (a bit too tactile sometimes), and overall on the leaner bass side with just a little bit of upper bass warmth. imaging is a bit meh for gaming but fine for music listening.

Feel Free to ask any questions
