Hiby is cool!

Hey folks! Just wanted to give you an update. As I mentioned, Fiona said they are working on the issues. Keep in mind, Fiona is just a customer service rep... She can't program in Linux!

Turns out, HibyLink on the R1 I sent doesn't really matter. My friend's daughter is getting a Hiby R1, with Koss PortaPros (used. That's like 10 years old!)

So it is a happy ending after all, at least I'm my case. But I think Reddit saved the day cause it got me in touch with Joe, so now I feel like I have personal connection with Hiby.

Anyhoos....v have a good night, all

Koss modded Kph30i

These are my modded kph30is. Geekroa comfort pads, etsy 3d printed suspension strap and reinforcements for the headband. I got the Koss USBc to 3.5 cord that is 4 bands. A 3.5 to 4.4 adapter into a 4.4 extension cord into my Fiio R2R Dac/Amp. The Kph30is sound even better with some extra juice. They sound more open and dynamic. The mid bass is cleaner.

Koss A/550

My review unit finally arrived, so I've been playing around with it for a little bit now. I'll answer any questions you guys may have to the best of my ability!

How is the sound leakage on kph40's? I share a bedroom.

The room is usually quiet so I was wondering if the sound leakage on kph40's would be noticeable to another person in the room a few feet away. I'm also going to college very soon where I'll likely be in a super cramped triple dorm (housing is cooked, side topic). Also, would they be able to tell the music I'm playing or just hear an indistinguishable murmur, kind of like airpods left playing on a table? Will probably buy yaxis too

Closed-back alternative to KSC75/Porta Pro?

(Pictured: KSC75 drivers + Yaxi pads + Parts Express headband)

TLDR:

Is there a closed-back driver with the same clipping mechanism as the KSC75/Porta Pro?

Or, if not... is there another pair of super lightweight, swivel-ey, on-ear headphones that might work instead?

Essentially, what I'm trying to achieve is this exact same setup, but with a closed back. They're amazingly comfortable, and because this headband is so flimsy (and flexible), they're also super comfortable to use with only one ear (i.e. taking off one driver and tucking it behind your ear).

I've been influenced. I did the thing

I had an old set of ksc75's laying around somewhere and bought the bits and doodads needed for the mmcx mod. Got another set, because I've been getting these headphones for years. Didn't know they had a cult following. I did get a parts express headband for my other set and a two pack of Yaxi Pads.

Love these guys. Never been an iem fan. They have just been my default for years

Where else can I buy screw-in MMCX housings?

Since Hundo3D is seemingly MIA, I was wondering if there were any other reliable sellers that ship to the U.S. who produce screw-in MMCX housings for the KSC75/KPH40. I know there are modkids on Amazon that use hot glue or epoxy resin, and I'd use that if I really couldn't get screw-in kits, but I prefer the latter and I'd appreciate input about where to buy them.

What should I get as my first Koss piece?

I am aware this has been asked enough times, so my apologies.
I really want to get into the modding aspect of things but sound matters a lot to me
My most recent uses have been Simgot EW200 and Truthear Hexa, I am not expecting the koss pieces to sound like these but I like Balanced to Neutral sound signatures a lot!

So I would really appreciate some advice and suggestions with regards to that!

Thanks a lot
Love

Is the microphone on the Koss Porta Pro headset modular?

I noticed the headset version has a screw where the mic attaches, and now I’m curious if all Porta Pros share the same structure or if it’s just a manufacturing shortcut.

I found a broken headset version locally and wondered if the mic could be transplanted to a regular Porta Pro.

They're just starting to roll in, but put together a little list of some of the early unboxing/reactions below I've seen for anyone interested. More unboxings vids will be rolling in with full reviews in the coming weeks. I believe we sent out a bout 30 review samples. We send samples to a full array of reviewers from casual listeners to audiophiles who will measure and go over every last detail.

I know Koss co. folks hang out here. Given that (Mass)Drop was bought by Corsair and has dropped their entire inventory and all collaboration products from the market, what is the chance we see the return of the KSC75X or a similar new KSC75 model? It's a shame they're gone! Love the ear clips and would love to pick up a couple in proper black.

(In terms of new model feature wishlist, built-in bluetooth option would be awesome, tho I imagine it is difficult to fit the additional hardware without significantly impacting the weight or necessitating a redesign.)
