Where can I animate

So I'm super confused. I'm planning to make a relatively short animation 3 to 4 minutes. But I don't know what app to use, i have to use my tablet, and it seems like every app has some flaw which effects how I animate. I draw so much better on paper, so I want to draw on paper originally then scan or take a picture to put on the app, but if I can't do that I wouldn't mind that much drawing it digitally first.

Originally was thinking of using Ibis paint animation, but I don't like the pens and i can't add audio. And flipa clip is too basic and doesn't have the options I need. I might try krita but it seems pretty complicated to use.

Anyway can anybody help for an app for a tablet that I can animate, that lets me input my own pictures and have many options. Please and thank you

What do you use to composite PNG sequences with different frame rates?

Hi! I'm hoping this isn't one of those generic "what's the best software?" questions. My situation is pretty specific, and I feel like I'm missing a piece of the animation pipeline that experienced animators probably already have solved.

I've been animating for quite a while, but mostly just for myself. Because of that, I never had to think much about compositing or building a proper workflow I just used the built-in animation tools in my drawing software and kept everything simple.

Now I want to start making short, high-quality animations for YouTube and TikTok on a regular basis (around 20–30 seconds each), and I'm trying to find the right software for the compositing stage.

Here's my workflow:

  • I animate frame-by-frame in ibis Paint.
  • I export PNG sequences (often with transparent backgrounds for the characters).
  • The background and foreground are animated separately.
  • I then want to move the characters and/or the camera with simple keyframes.

The part that makes this difficult is that I intentionally animate different elements at different frame rates.

For example:

  • Character animation: 13 fps
  • Background animation: 12 fps
  • Camera movement: smooth (e.g. 60 fps)

I don't want to manually duplicate frames or calculate frame holds for every image. Ideally, I'd like to import each image sequence, tell the software "this sequence plays at 13 fps" and "this one plays at 12 fps," and then just animate their positions with keyframes.

I tried looking into DaVinci Resolve, but it seems to assume one timeline frame rate for everything, which doesn't seem to fit this workflow.

I'm not looking for a new drawing or animation program. I'm happy doing all the frame-by-frame animation in ibis Paint. I just need a compositor that makes this last step simple and repeatable.

What software would you recommend for this workflow? I'd especially love to hear what people making independent 2D animations or music-synced YouTube animations actually use.

Best animation app for mouse artists?

Before you say anything, yes I draw things with a mouse and I am much more comfortable drawing with a mouse and that's purely because of Adobe Illustrator where it straightens and smoothens every stroke, removing any crooked or ugly strokes you would make due to the use of a mouse.

I wanna know if there's an existing app like this or if it's wishful thinking

Is this Good Lighting for my next Stop Motion Fight?

should I add a little more white Light? I am scared because no matter where I place it there will be points while moving the camera that it will get slightly blocked and I will have unwanted shadows. I think I am satisfied now that my Light is above everything but after shooting my first Video I am wanting to know if it's Ideal or if I should be doing something different?

progress I guess

Hello. I have almost completed this animation, it just needs to be polished and replace the shadows for mirrored drawings? As the test for a complete newbie I guess it is pretty nice animation even though I have just copied the poses from one video

How tf do you learn how to animate!

Ive been on youtube and all the videos that "teach" you how to animate don't teach you how to animate.

Yeah I understand frames and moving pictures but I havent found a video that shows you how to actully put them in a program or how to add background effects while not effecting your picture and talking points on sound and music.

All the animation videos ive seen have been like Animation Talking videos and not Animation MAKING videos.

If you have some links share them please

Edit : Im looking for a follow along type video. Like im learning python right now and the first thing they teach you is the hello program. all you do is type print("HelloWorld") run

and even before that they tell you exactly what program to use and how to run it.

I still dont even know how to drag the picture around once I get it in place.

When I edit none, animation videos I Can easily Put a imagine and move it around but for "animation" programs that I googled I can't even do that
