Dan is unbothered by the Chris Johnson criticism.

It’s not like he went on a breathy high pitched rant or released a “bonus episode” that’d be something only someone who is bothered would do glad our Danny is cool as a cucumber.

Fuentes

Listening to today’s Football America and Mike Ryan his on. He mentions Geno Fuentes then says “where’s the other guy?” Obviously referring to Mike.
Honestly based on his tone I didn’t know how to take it lol honestly felt like 4 options all viable

  1. Fuentes quit so Mike is making light of it.
  2. Fuentes got fired and deserved it so Mike is making light of it.
  3. Mike is mad Fuentes got fired and it was a slight call out
  4. Mike is just an ass

I'm creating an updated show soundboard, looking for some suggestions.

Some examples of what I've got are:

  • the best of Greg's catchphrases
  • Panthers parade sounds (Barky saying Thank You, etc)
  • Roys shitty guitar riff

I welcome more suggestions and bonus points for source video provided!

This show has become Emmitt Smith on the Cardinals.

I remember when I started listening after Colin left ESPN (back when his show was actually good) and Lebatard’s show was so much more fun. It used to make you feel like one of the family and now it’s just kinda bleh.

So many things have made the show worse. Lucy leaving doesn’t really bug me since she wasn’t with them for long, but Jessica leaving bugs me a bit. Billy leaving was a HUGE blow and Stugotz leaving completely changes the show. Mike not driving anymore hasn’t been great, either. He’s making more money than he ever thought he could and seems to be doing so much less to earn it. He spends so much time and money on The U.

The guests used to be so great! And they were so much better on the show than on their own. When they had regular appearances from Sarah Spain, Mina Kimes, Dominique Foxworth (aka Darnell Foxworthy), Pablo, Marty Smith, Bomani Jones, Tim Kurkjian, etc., that was the other magic of the show. It made people feel so comfortable and they ended up being the best versions of themselves.

It was nice to have Samson do occasional spots and he’s such an a-hole for whom I have no respect. He rips guys now for doing things not nearly as bad as what he’s done in the past. So disingenuous. It’s good content, but is it worth it? It really seems like Dan lost the heart and fun, which was what made the show so great and idk what happened other than focusing too much on the business aspect of it.

Stu and Billy leaving just makes it so obvious that the family and fun aspects of the show, which were what made the show so attractive, are gone.

It may have become Willie Mays on the Mets

The Jaylen Brown “seventh-best player” conversation made me want to see the model

Hope this is allowed. I wrote a quick reaction to the Local Hour Jaylen Brown analytics conversation because that segment sent me down a rabbit hole.
I’m not anti-analytics at all. I’m actually building a sports analytics site, so the Bobby Marks quote caught my attention for a different reason.
If an NBA analytics model says Jaylen Brown is the seventh-best player on a team, I don’t even want to yell at the model right away.
I just want to see it.
What is it measuring? What is it punishing? Is it basketball value, contract value, role, efficiency, on/off stuff, something else?
That was the part of the Le Batard conversation I thought was interesting. Not just “is Jaylen Brown good?” Obviously he is. More like: when one anonymous model gets dropped into the sports conversation, should we get to see the work behind it?
I wrote the full thought here:

Curious what the show community thinks. Was the quote just ridiculous, or is there something real buried under it?
