Legendary DC on sale for $88.99

At Amazon - just search for it. No affiliate links here.

Well, I was thinking of holding off until Black Friday/Christmas, hoping for a sale, but with my receiving it shipping-free and tax-free, I think that I might as well go ahead and nab it now...

Legendary Marvel 1st edition too easy

I am playing for some time the first edition of Legendary: Marvel. I play solo using the What if rules, and the game is way too easy. Now I started to play Dark City expansion and after 3 games it doesn't seem to increase the difficulty that much. Any advice? I dont want to play two handed.

Im playing with all the rules.

Legendary Encounters: The Matrix

I picked up Legendary Encounters: Matrix yesterday and just played a game (essentially going through the first movie). That was a genuinely impressive standalone experience. If it's sitting at your FLGS (friendly local game store), seriously consider picking it up and I would 100% get it if you can find it for cheap on secondhand market.

I played it as 2-handed solo, there's some interactions that you miss if you play true solo and this is designed to be purely co-op (there are no points for defeating an enemy, you're solely trying to make it to the end of the Second Act with all characters alive and end of the Third Act with at least one character alive)

All that being said, it's definitely a standalone - there are some standees, you interact with the market and particularly the villain deck in a completely different way, so if you're only interested in decks that are compatible with LM, I'd skip this one. And while I don't think it's quite as strong overall as LE: Alien (especially with the LE: Alien expansions), I'd put it as a close second for standalone and this is still in print, so much cheaper.

Legendary Core Box and Expansions for Sale in Massachusetts (willing to ship USA)

Hey everybody, just like the the title says, I'm looking to part ways with my Marvel legendary board game. I've enjoyed it, but honestly Marvel champions is more my style and so I'd rather parlay any money I sell from this into getting more from that game. I'm not looking to sell parts. I want to sell it all at once. Let me know if you have any questions. All cards are sleeved and organized. I have the larg dark city expansion as well as 4 small expansions (paint the town red, venom, fantastic 4 and guardians of the galaxy). Thinking $250 for all is fair. Let me know.

Yet another randomizer (but new)

Hi everyone!
I played Legendary like a lot in past 2 months and figured out, that all randomizers that are available are good, but don't have all things that I would like to have.

So after a few days with a lot of caffeine and knowledge about game (hopefully) I made a test-ready version of Legendary Randomizer (name WIP). It's a small web app for our game to help with quick random setup generation and smoother game prep.

It contains:
- expansion filtering
- manual (or random) Mastermind and Scheme selection
- smart tag and keyword selection and distribution of Villains, Henchmen and Hero groups to counter each other
- updated for What If? / 2nd edition ruleset about hero/henchmen/villains/bystanders distribution in deck
- visual representation of how hard given game would be
- dynamic hero distribution. Maybe you want to use some heroes, who are on a "shame shelf", maybe you want always an optimised team
- with some schemes and mastermind shenanigans it will tell you which Hero you need to put aside / add to Villain deck

- saving stats, looking at whether you win / lose. How good are the Heroes agains masterminds and so on

Project is still in testing so I'm looking for people willing to:

  1. Try it out and just play around with it.
  2. Report bugs or confusing parts
  3. Suggest improvements and polish ideas.

This is the link: https://kompanpawel.github.io/legendary-randomizer/

Any feedback is welcome — UX, features, data quality, edge cases, anything you notice. Thanks a lot for helping shape it!

And for disclaimer, this is not any official app.

It is an unofficial fan-made tool for Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with Marvel, Upper Deck, or any official publisher or distributor of the game. And the Joker got away...

Just finished my second game of DC and boy was it rough! First one I used B listers just to get a handle on any differences from Marvel. Had a fairly easy win against Captain Cold. Was surprised the hope/fear mechanic never came into play. This time I went with the main cast. Joker and his Joker scheme, Devoted Goons, Legion of Doom, Fearsome Five, Gotham City Underworld, and Superman Revenge Squad (I play 3 handed and this scheme adds an extra villain deck).

I had Aquaman, Batman, Green Lantern, Superman and Wonder Woman. The villain combo is rough, constantly having to reduce my hand and discard non-grey heroes. Sooo many villains escaped. Every villain had a health boost from one factor or another. If you want a challenge, give that combo a go.

I'm spoiled from all the Marvel sets I have and already want more options for DC. Going to need to start doing crossovers.

Core set question

Hi,

I am a happy owner of the first edition Marvel core set, and just ordered the DC one. I'm returning to the game after some time. I got most of the expansions.

Question: how vital is it to buy 2nd edition core set in my case? Or maybe I could get the What If for dome diversity?

What do you guys think? What would you suggest?

Legendary Marvel 2nd Edition

New player and just received the game today. I’ve been playing solo and having a blast! I tried several games with The Legacy Virus scheme and Magneto but was getting slaughtered by the combination. Once I switched to Bank Robbery I found it much more enjoyable and flexible.

I have a feeling I’ll be getting many hours of enjoyment out of this one… and just thought I’d share.

Edit: Final score was 29… which is probably terrible. I counted Mystique as a scheme twist instead of a villain since she escaped, which was the more punishing choice.

Question about Doctor Voodoo card "Medallion of Many Loas"

We played a game and were unsure of how to interpret this card. It is a Ritual Artifact that reads "If you have at least 3 Hero Classes, you may discard Medallion of Many Loas for +1 attack for each Hero Class you have, including this one". So our question is does that mean for each DIFFERENT Hero Class, so between a possible +3 to +5 attack or just the total number of ALL Hero Classes so anywhere from +3 to whatever total if you had a bigger hand or something? The card itself doesn't say different in the description, but getting potentially a really high attack damage from a single 4 cost card later in the game when your deck has more heroes in it seems like it is overpowered. But maybe it really is just a great card? What are people's thoughts? Thank youuuuu

Price advice

Hi! I want to start playing and wanted to ask if the old Core Set + Dark City (with the box) for $110 is a good deal. Everything is sleeved and in good condition.

Buying sleeves for the first time

Deciding on the sleeve for me, want some advice

Just getting into Marvel Legendary and enjoying it. However, girlfriend is pretty rough when shuffling which is so often and I’m afraid of the cards that get used every time are going to start degrading. My concerns with sleeves as I’ve never used any before are:

  • the ability to shuffle well
  • won’t slide off each other when stacking like 80 or so on top of one another
  • can clearly see into
  • will handle some rough use

I’ve seen recommendations for dragon shield, mayday, gamegenic, and sleeve kings. It sounds like matte might be important, but I really don’t know. I think I have around 2200 cards so trying not to destroy my wallet in the process too. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Enemies of Gotham City

I realize it’s not deck building, but it is Upper Deck: has anyone heard much about Enemies of Gotham City?

Premise seems quite fun (area control as DC villains, fight off Batman, etc etc etc) but the price point seems insane: $150 for base game, add another $50 for expansion and metal coins.

Dammit this looks cool. https://youtu.be/Nx6yWl3xaWQ?is=lheH8q0U7B7wOBkn

EDIT: I sold more games than I was expecting to, had some extra funds... and promptly ordered Enemies. I am a weak man. I'll let you all know how it plays

Which Marvel/DC crossover game would you run first?

Got my DC box yesterday. Mechanics aside, just for vibes and given that the games are all compatible, what setup would you run first if you were combining cards from DC and Marvel? Joker trying to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet? Secret Wars with Masterminds from both IPs? Give me some ideas.

Marvel Legendary 2nd Ed. Vs. DC Legendary (Solo & Multiplayer)

Given that both of these games are relatively recent releases and operate on the same core system to the point of being - dubiously - capable of - uneven, to say the least - integration, does anyone have a perspective on which game makes best use of the core mechanics (with the obvious addition of the Hope/Fear mechanic in DC)?

Which is the superior product at this juncture? Which would you recommend if a solo board game enthusiast was going to purchase only one and why? What about differences in Multiplayer, if that's an additional point that distinguishes them?

I've recieved mixed reports with some saying that the DC version is uneven and unpolished, particularly in its new mechanics, and others suggesting that its a deeper and more robust experience.

BGG has the complexity and rating of Marvel 2E at 2.5/5 and 9/10 while DC is 1.5/5 and 8.7/10, so that's curious to me as well.

Legendary DC is in stores!

“Self, do you need it?” No

“Seriously self, between your complete Legendary Marvel collection plus LE Aliens with both expansions, LE Predator with conversion set, and L Big Trouble in Little China, do you need it?!?” No

“You’re gonna get it, aren’t you?” Hell yes!

Just picked up a copy from my FLGS (in Boise) for $94, saved $5 and didn’t have to deal with Upper Deck’s crummy shipping!
