i am super happy with the outcome. been working on it for a really long time, and there are still a few finishing touches to do, but it feels complete now. i can't wait to try some stop motion in here.
dolls, clothing, and almost all the props are handmade by me. wall paintings were made by my sister and brother(in law).
(quick request to please refrain from cursing on my posts. i have severe OCD, and it triggers a compulsion to delete my entire post. thank you for understanding!)
It took me a while to get them all glazed. But now that I did the first batch, I'm so happy. I can't wait to make more. I'm curious if resin will be a better glaze. But either way, I'm feeling pretty good.
I imagine it did not want to be made.
Aside from doll house furniture, how can i use these?
Am I missing anything? Feels like it’s missing something . . .
I love making minatures for my daughters dollhouse, she is making her own now,i inspired her
this is the second try which came out a lot more polished than my first one (third pic) :D
finally finished this little 1:12 reading corner. it’s mostly recycled cardboard, scrap paper, and whatever tiny pieces were already on my desk.
the bookshelf took forever. the blinds were worse. i thought the tiny books would be the annoying part, but no. it was the glue.
i ruined a few small pieces early on because i kept using whatever was closest to me. cheap hot glue left blobs that looked huge at this scale, and the strings kept catching on the paper plants and chair legs. CA glue was cleaner, but it grabbed too fast when i was trying to line up the bookshelf dividers. PVA looked the neatest, but waiting for every tiny piece to dry made me question my life choices a little.
i ended up using a hoto glue gun for the hidden spots, mostly the back of the bookshelf, the lamp base, and a few structural corners. it helped for quick low-stress attachments, but i still wouldn’t use hot glue anywhere visible on the little furniture.
anyway, i’m slowly learning that “what glue should i use?” depends way more on the joint than the material. visible seam, hidden support, paper-to-paper, cardboard-to-cardboard, something that needs adjusting, something that needs to hold right now… all different answers.
for people who build roomboxes or cardboard miniatures, when do you use hot glue vs PVA vs CA glue? i’m trying to stop sacrificing tiny books to bad glue decisions.
A few months ago I could not do these. I am obsessed with these miniatures! The guitar, the mouse pad and mouse, the monitor, the Video game, the bag, everything. I wish I had saved the template and paper so I could make more! Look how tiny the cup, ruler and pencils are!! And the little frames on the bookshelf!
It’s been a blast. I add things almost daily. All fae are welcome!
This is my first heavy modified kit.
I started with making the mugs with plastic tube, washi tape and plastic clip handles. I bought some craft supplies like boards, lollipop sticks, scrapbook paper, furniture markers and pre made items (mainly on table). It was a lot of fun but definitely a challenge for myself! I normally find these kits relaxing as I follow the instructions but enjoyed using a bit of creativity! Dora’s loft is a very good one to modify and I have put the original up for reference 😁
Edit: here’s what I used for tutorial in making the mugs! https://youtu.be/J\_XXnnTshcg?si=QTKpkVuwcJCQCEoz
I just used plastic tubes that I got off Temu rather than paper.
I've never been great at arts and crafts, but I'm really enjoying putting together the kit! It was incredibly relaxing. The kit is Dreamland Floral Studio (and I got it 1/3rd off!)
I've looked at getting others, but sadly I can't find one that involves using fake grass/ivy like this one does. I think because of being able to "personalise" it more than the step-by-step guide (though I still really appreciated that haha) I'm really enjoying this side of it.
Can anyone recommend any other kits that are mix of step-by-step but also involve using the craft grass and plants, etc? UK based if that helps!
Doesn't need to be a house, it could be anything! I don't know if I'm confident enough for a completely "do your own" kit (as if I was making a forest diorama or something for Warhammer)
