I'm never sharing my work hacks with coworkers again

I work at a company I genuinely love, which made me even more afraid of losing the job. I kept worrying that I wasn't good enough and that sooner or later, my boss would realize it too. So I threw almost all my time into work. I tried to learn as quickly as I could and kept looking for ways to make the process faster and more efficient. I wanted to catch up, but more than that, I wanted to prove that I deserved to be there.

Eventually, it paid off. I not only caught up with everyone else, but also received a performance bonus.

A coworker joined around the same time as me. We weren't close, but recently she started inviting me to dinner and asking how I got so much done. I knew what it was like to feel behind, so I shared pretty much everything with her.

The next day, my boss asked to speak with me.

Apparently, someone has told him that I relied entirely on AI and didn't deserve the bonus.

He asked exactly how I used it, so I walked him through my workflow. I use ChatGPT to clean up my thoughts and wording. I used WorkBuddy to research, break larger tasks into steps, organize documents, and track progress. I also automate some repetitive tasks, then move everything back into the company's standard tools for delivery.

I still verify the data, check the sources, review final output, and make the actualy decisions myself.

My boss didn't have a problem with ir. His main concerns were that I wasn't sharing confidential information, that I checked the output myself, and that I took responsibility for whatever I submitted.

Then he asked me to document the workflor and identity other repetitive yasks the team could handle the same way.

So it worked out. I kept my bonus, and the workflow may now be adopted by the rest of the team.

But I'm def done giving coworkers the full breakdown of how I work.

I can't deal with this guy anymore

Working contract security at a USCG base. It's an extremely simple job, we just sit in the shack checking IDs and walk the perimeter once an hour.

I have to sit next to this guy 16 hours a week and it's like he doesn't have a filter on. Just today he had been complaining about how he got in trouble this week because he went into multiple areas that he wasn't supposed to and he is blaming everyone but himself for it.

Non stop complaining about how unfair it is that he's in trouble, complaining about how there is a new txt message on the group chat every morning telling us that we did something wrong (there isn't), and how the phone going off keeps him from sleeping (do not disturb?!?!?), arguing with me about who is covering my shift tonight while I'm on vacation ( I don't care if it's co worker A or B. I'm not here).

He keeps making this "joke" about how everyone is coming to my house for thanksgiving and won't let it die.

And now he keeps making this weird comment about how I should want to spend more time with my dog, the dog I don't have.

Rant about annoying person

Hi everyone,

I wanted to vent about a coworker at my job. For context I work at a coffee shop part time, and the coffee shop location I work at just opened about a month ago so every barista is new. This coworker since day one when the location opened has been a complete jerk. Even though everyone is new, she acts like a know it all and constantly bosses me and others around. Anytime someone tries to correct her on something she does wrong, she does not take it lightly or ignores it completely. Even though it’s unrelated, three of her family members also work at the coffee shop and since there’s four total of them they have shifts together. I include this because the fact that she has someone familiar there just fuels the way she acts in the sense that someone is there to back her up if she gets called out if that makes sense. Today I had a shift with her and she was treating one of our other coworkers pretty rudely. While she didn’t say anything directly to the coworker, the bossy coworker was talking behind her back and saying how she doesn’t like her to another coworker. About the coworker she was talking about, it’s pretty obvious something is going on with her, she seems to have an attitude for no reason and does not talk to anyone. But the fact this girl is talking behind her back is not helping!! I think it’d be easier to leave her alone, you don’t need to befriend every coworker. Anyways, today there were five other people working, and this bossy girl had to go on break and she was going to get food outside. Before she left, she asked ALL of our coworkers if they wanted something to eat besides me and the girl she was talking about. It was so clearly intentional to make us feel singled out. I have no idea what I did to this girl — I have not talked to her nor have I been doing anything wrong. It made me feel horrible, even though it’s so minuscule. The coworker she was talking to about our other coworker is a nice girl who joined about 1-2 weeks after we opened. One thing I noticed, the bossy girl does not at all tell this girl what to do or boss her around. I know it’s because she prefers her, but i feel it’s so weird to single people out in the workplace. I know people are like this everywhere, but I genuinely did not do a single thing to this person. One thing I noticed, the bossy girl is almost trying to force a friendship between her and the nice coworker by talking bad about people. Anytime it was just us three and the other coworkers were on break or in the storage, I would try talking to the nice coworker but the bossy girl would come out of nowhere and try to get the nice coworkers attention.

More that happened today, we were closing and I was responsible for washing the big heaters that dispense tea. I was done washing them, I had to put them back on the counter, and this girl was taking her SWEET time cleaning the counters meanwhile I’m holding a 10 pound heater I can’t put elsewhere since everywhere is dirty. It was soaking wet and I needed to place it on the counter to towel dry and she says in such a rude tone “wait I’m not done cleaning yet, ALSO make sure you dry it…” like do you not think that’s what I’m about to do 🤦‍♀️ it’s more of not what she says but how she says it — like I should feel bad for not doing something I was literally about to do. Then I place the heater down and she looks at it and laughingly goes “did you not rinse the tea out from the nozzle, YOU were supposed to do that” while laughing because it was so funny for some reason. Ftr, I did rinse it out, but she wanted something to pick on I guess.

Anyway I’m almost done with my closing tasks and this girl was cleaning the espresso machine, but I needed to wash something right next to the espresso machine. She gets done cleaning the machine and i pick up the sponge and walk to where I need to wash, CLEARLY ABOUT TO WASH IT, this girl again rudely goes “make sure you wash the— this thing”. I feel like since I don’t respond whenever she says these “make sure” things, she keeps saying it. It’s so unnecessary the way she speaks and the attitude she has, it is so bad to have.

This all seems so weird since I’m typing this out, but it’s so annoying being in the presence of this person. They are too old to be acting like this. What do y’all think of this person?

Co-worker doesn't understand busy status

When she started, I explained the company policy, if someone is online but showing as "busy" or "in a meeting" you don't message or Skype call them.

We are a technical team and need some time to focus, not to be interrupted.

She will constantly send over questions, really to make her problem, your problem.

Because if she has asked someone, then she can't possibly get on with work, while waiting for a response.

I was getting really annoyed with it, as I would instinctively open the message thinking it was important, but it was more often than not, dross.

I've been ignoring her for a few weeks when she has been doing this, but she hasn't got the message.
