If you were buying a home on Long Island today and knew you had to stay there for at least 10 years, what town would you choose?

What matters most to you long-term, schools, taxes, commute, downtown, beaches, lot size, resale value, neighborhood feel?

And is there a town you think is especially good for someone looking at the long game, not just today’s market?

What town gets your vote, and why?

With all the new apartments, downtown redevelopment, rising home prices, new businesses and changing demographics across Long Island, some towns are going to look completely different a decade from now.

Which town do you think is going to change the most?

And do you think the change will be for the better or worse?

Could be Riverhead, Patchogue, Ronkonkoma, Huntington, Farmingdale, Bay Shore — or somewhere nobody is really talking about yet.

What town are you watching, and why?

We have young kids and are thinking about moving. I’m quite familiar with the district rankings so I wanted to hear more parents stories about actual school experiences.

I’m asking broadly because I’d like to hear about different schools around Nassau—just share your own school’s experience. For parents around Nassau, what’s something your kid’s school does that you really appreciate, or wish it did differently? Would love an example and the school or district, if you’re comfortable sharing. Trying to get a feel for everyday school life beyond the rankings

As of October 3 2026 it was announced that the deal where Giunta’s Meat Farms will acquire King Kullen that was announced on July 30 2026 has been finalized.

Hello guys, I will be visiting nassau in oct 17-20. However, I’m debating if I should rent a car (about $200-300) during my stay or would it be better to just take public transportation or taxi to get around. I’m going to stay in Simply Native B and B, I believe they have parking there but I’m not sure if parking is hard to find for most places especially the beaches. (Cable beach, cabbage beach, montagu beach) If anyone would like to share their experience please let me knoe thank you!
