Opinions on noteful?

I just got an iPad for school (high school student, hopefully a med student next year) and need an opinion on noteful and whether it is worth buying.
Let me start off by saying: I study a LOT, so I need an app that will not drain battery like crazy, lag, will keep up with me etc.
What I need in a note taking app is OBVIOUSLY safety that I will not lose my data and notebooks, preferably along with iCloud to be able to export my folders/notebooks to my files or something like that (does Noteful offer that?), ability to have unlimited notebooks/folders/pages (and as I mentioned for it not to be laggy), ability to use offline!! Things like adding pdfs, slides, etc. And also obviously comfortable usage (pencils, highlighters and so on).

ALSO, if I ever want to transfer elsewhere, will I be able to move my notes?

I’ve heard quite good opinions on Noteful and it seems legit along with not being crazy expensive.
Other apps I’ve been thinking about are notes+, Collanote, goodnotes (but I feel like this one is perhaps overhyped, given its price), kilonotes and maybe freenotes. Any opinions on any of those, e.g. do you prefer kilonotes or noteful??

I would really appreciate some help thanks!!!

Edit: forgot to mention: I need an app that will be suitable for years! Don’t want to be moving between apps.

Good note-taking apps for nursing school?

Heyy guys, I’m currently using kilonotes but I feel like my options are limited because they’re updating more materials and I have to pay more.

I’m wondering what you guys use and how much you have to pay and what do you think is effective for nursing schools?

Thank you

Pencils are not very good

Hello, I feel like most apps now use Apples own PencilKit UI and I always loved apples pens. However, Noteful both lacks the variety of pencils and also I don’t like the pens offered. Honestly that could be my only issue with the app. We need smoother pens, these pens make my hand writing look bad. I have tried several pen settings, some are better but still not in the caliber of the other apps. Its laggy, has a weird smoothening, shapes don’t come out right… What do you all think?

Confused about backups and syncs. Also crashing.

Hi! 2 things… 1.) In the app’s “About Noteful”, the Cloud Sync shows my Noteful is syncing to my iCloud, however I am not finding any Noteful files in my iCloud files. Is this actually referring to the Google Drive backups and not really “iCloud”? Where are my files going?? 2.) Also, when I try to run a backup to PDFs, the program keeps crashing. I have about 70 notebooks. It gets like 12-15 done and then crashes, repeatedly. I’d really like to be able to save the PDFs in case of apocalypse. Please help?

How Switching to Digital Notes on My iPad Changed My Study Routine

For the longest time, I was a traditional paper notebook person. I liked writing everything down by hand, highlighting important topics, and organizing my notes with colorful pens. But as my study materials kept growing, it became harder to keep everything organized in one place.
This year, especially with Back to School 2026 approaching, I decided to give digital note-taking a real chance on my iPad. At first, I honestly thought it would feel strange compared to writing on paper, but after spending some time adjusting my workflow, I realized it completely changed the way I study and organize my notes.
I’m currently studying Psychology, so I deal with a lot of reading, summaries, class notes, and PDF materials. I wanted a setup that felt organized, easy to customize, and enjoyable enough that I would actually look forward to opening my notes every day.

One of the biggest reasons I decided to stay with digital note-taking was how much easier it became to keep everything together. Instead of carrying multiple notebooks or worrying about losing handwritten pages, I can now keep my class notes, summaries, reading materials, and study plans in one place on my iPad.
After trying different ways to organize my notes, I eventually started using Kilonotes, and it fit the workflow I was looking for. What I appreciate most is not just writing on the screen, but how flexible the app feels. I enjoy creating notebook covers, organizing different subjects into separate notebooks, adding stickers when I want to personalize a page, and using templates that make my notes look clean and easy to review later.
As a Psychology student, I spend a lot of time reading textbooks and PDF files before writing my own summaries. Having everything together makes reviewing much easier because I don’t have to switch between several notebooks or search through piles of paper. I can highlight important concepts, write additional notes by hand, and keep my study material organized in a way that works for me.
Another thing that surprised me was how much digital note-taking motivated me to study. I know this may sound strange, but having well-organized notes actually makes me want to come back and review them. Creating attractive pages with different layouts, colors, and handwriting styles turns studying into something I genuinely enjoy instead of feeling like a chore.
Of course, no app is perfect, and I think everyone has different preferences. Some students may prefer simpler note-taking apps, while others need advanced features or collaboration tools. For me, customization and organization are the features I value the most, and that’s where Kilonotes has been a great fit for my personal study routine.
Since Back to School 2026 is approaching, I’ve also been thinking more about building better study habits instead of simply collecting more materials. Having an organized system has helped me spend less time looking for notes and more time actually reviewing and learning. That has made a noticeable difference in how I prepare for classes.
Overall, switching to digital note-taking has made studying feel more organized and much more enjoyable for me. I’m still learning and improving my system, but I’m happy with the progress so far.
I’d love to hear your experience too. Which note-taking app do you use, and what features make the biggest difference in your study routine?
