Thought we planted tomatoes or peppers, but does this look like deadly nightshade...?

Thought we planted tomatoes or peppers, but does this look like deadly nightshade...?

We got seeds from the library and embarked on some chaos gardening in April. Water levels have been quite low but this sprung up next to where we have some tomato and pepper plants growing (there's another similar looking plant near our spinach patch 15 feet away). I'm pretty adventurous with what I put in my mouth but I was reading about atropa belladonna today for work and it made me wonder if this is poisonous.

Picture was taken today in Oakland. I don't do anything to my soil and I garden purely as a hobby/to entertain young children.

People who have replaced lawns with native grass, what did you go with?

Have about 3500 sq ft of lawn that looks wonderful during the winter/spring but awful during summer since I don't bother to water.

Looking to go with a native grass replacement and there seem to be different options like bentgrass, buffalograss, etc. Any other suggestions for replacement would be helpful too.

Advice needed: Front window privacy, planting near utilities

Front yard is ready for a full makeover in Zone 10a. Southern exposure and the size is 19' x 12'. Headlights come from the left and pan the living room, so blocking them is a high priority. Native, drought tolerant, and low-ish maintenance is of course ideal.

The gas line (yellow) runs parallel to the sidewalk and towards the house about 30" right of the front walkway. The water line (white) about 30" to the right of the gas line is concerning because it is super shallow and has me rethinking what plants (ie root systems) I can put in the area.

I had initially thought a Toyon tree on the lefthand side would be nice, but am now rethinking due to the utility lines. Would love to put something ~12' tall in the sight line of that window. In addition, am also considering an arbor with some plants (bougainvillea in a wine barrel?) at the front of the walkway to add a sense of separation from the sidewalk.

Fabric is (probably) temporary to prevent weeds until planting begins. Still need to add a drainage solution near the foundation due to the negative grade.

TL;DR: What can I plant near my gas and water lines that can create privacy for our front window?

Has anyone tried growing kiwis?

I've seen a lot of successful subtropical fruits in my area (Temescal) like figs, passionfruit, persimmons, etc. and it made me wonder if anyone is growing kiwis. They are one of my favorites (gold kiwis especially), and my research tells me it should be possible, but would love to hear if anyone on here has had success before I go looking for a kiwi plant.
