Unpopular opinion on the drama
As most of you know, one of the shooters in San Diego was a massive Ongezellig fan and ran several Ongezellig tiktok accounts. Because of this, some people are losing faith in the community but I genuinely believe that this type of thinking is destructive.
First of all, this was only one person, which in no way represents the majority of Ongezellig fans. Yes there was another incident with a student and teacher in Europe, but again, this does not represent the majority of Ongezellig fans.
Some of you might say that many people who like Ongezellig are racists/fascists, but this is still no reason for people to lose interest in something they deeply cherish.
I’ve seen several content creators and general commentators saying that they might take a break or leave the Ongezellig community entirely, but are you really gonna leave something that you love deeply just because of a few bad people?
If a Hazbin Hotel fan was a r*pist, would Hazbin Hotel fans give up on their community and stop interacting with it? If a digital circus fan was a child ab*ser, would digital circus fans give up on their community and stop interacting with it? Of course not. They won’t let a few bad people ruin the show for them. And neither should we.
