Reversal complete
I had my Hartmann's reversal yesterday. My surgeon said it was complex, but successful. Definitely feeling pain, but mending with needs. I've been up and walking a few times, but no gas yes. Wish they would feed me lol.

I had my reversal 9 weeks ago. Recovery has gone well and the frequency and urgency of my bowel movements have slowly improved.
I had assumed my bowel movements would gradually return to the normal size and consistency I had before my stoma. But this hasn’t happened. I still have skinny little poops - sometimes a small amount sometimes loads, but always thin. Nothing like they were before my ileostomy.
Have other people had the same experience after a reversal?
Looking for some long wait times here to feel a little better about my mom’s situation. We are coming up on 6 months of her having a colostomy bag and we were hoping to start talking about reversal now but her Surgeon told us she wanted to wait another 6 months before talking about it and that even then it might not be possible. She’s never told us how much colon was removed but said mom’s “colon had died” due to a blockage, so she didn’t know if she could reverse it. Not the news we were expecting or wanting.
I had an emergency end colostomy due to a sigmoid perforation at the beginning of May. I've finally been approved for my reversal. The same surgeon who did my emergency procedure is doing the reversal, which makes me feel more confident. But I'm still really nervous.
I keep hearing reversals are harder and more painful than the colostomies. I hope mine is easier since it won't be an emergency surgery. I do have to have a laparotomy though, which sucks. I have some scar tissue as well my surgeon has to work around, but he's been very reassuring and says it can be done.
No real point to this except to ask for positive energy if you have any to spare. ❤️
