Clear liquid prep

Nothing but clear liquids for me today, and Pico Prep this afternoon. Tomorrow I go for my rectal stump contrast scan to clear me for my reversal.

I'm so nervous. My surgeon has been very optimistic and reassuring, but I'm still afraid it will somehow show, "oops, something's wrong, we can't actually reverse this."

Would help if I could have a cheeseburger or something!

Made my wife a bookmark out of poplar, and you can tell where the sun has tanned the top portion

Simple poplar bookmark, but I thought the brown tanning was quite neat and hadn't noticed it before today

Getting my reversal!

TW: medical stuff

A while back, I posted about going in for a laparoscopic hysterectomy and then having my bowel rupture and ending up with an emergency bowel dissection, colostomy, and stoma. I got some really nice messages (and someone recommended me for mental health support, which honestly touched me. I wasn't that low, but I appreciate someone cared.)

Today I saw my bowel surgeon and he says everything looks on track to reverse my colostomy and put my insides back together. I've gotten used to my stoma much more easily than I thought I would. He even has a name (he's very temperamental, so I named him Stoma Chameleon). But I am ready to say goodbye forever, maybe in as little as a month!

Also: fuck endo. This disease destroyed my organs and could have killed me, and we still keep getting the message that it's "bad periods." Grr.

Breakfast before I headed out today: bacon, kiwi, and soft egg on toast.

Seeing surgeon about reversal

Hi, this is my first post here. I had a colostomy three months ago after my bowel began leaking after another surgery (hysterectomy; my bowel was damaged by endometriosis). I see my surgeon next week to discuss scheduling my reversal. He hasn't given me any indication that it might not happen, but I'm still scared he will say I can't do it for some reason.

All in all, I've handled having a stoma okay. I'm an anxious person, so I'm always fussing over it (right now he feels hot and a little swollen, and I'm fretting over whether I should change the bag). I've also had some difficulties, though. He's a weird size and I struggle getting a good seal, it seems output always creeps under the wafer. And my skin is sensitive to adhesives, and I get a lot of rashes and itchiness.

Plus the mental weight. I went in for a laparoscopic hysterectomy, came out feeling like everything went well, then was back in surgery a day later in excruciating pain and woke up with a midline scar and colostomy bag.

I don't really have a question, just looking for support. I guess I want someone to tell me it will be okay whether I get the reversal or not, haha.

Also, I saw on here people often name their stomas, and I wasn't going to because I didn't want him thinking he could stick around. But he's very temperamental, and eventually I started calling him Stoma Chameleon (he stops and starts...he stops and staaaarts...)

Forgot to wear socks for my 12 hour shift

I made the fatal mistake of leaving the house in Birkenstocks and changed into my clogs. I thought I had socks in my car…..

Cataracts

Has anyone had cataract surgery on the island and is there a surgeon/clinic you would recommend?
