Bug or Intentional Game Design: Tools unequipping themselves automatically

I've been having an issue throughout my original attempts of trying the game, and now my first playthrough of Pacific Drive, where my tools auto-equip themselves. I am already past the point of >!Tobias' Death !<and have finally lost my patience. I need to know: Bug, Setting, Or anti-piracy countermeasure?

Note: I love the game, and have supported the developers by buying it on sale for a friend recently. But my own copy is pirated.

The game does not end well

I was mesmerized with this game for long 50 hours. I was putting off continuing main story to upgrade everything I could.

And when I did, leaving intentionally some stuff still to be scanned and found, I got back to main story and I done 2 missions and reached the credit roll.

I really hoped there would be more to happen but that was... just it.

Its completely rushed and soulless ending, also contradicting game beginning itself. Its so bad compared to everything else in game. I would have to write lots of paragraphs why this game is so good. And there is this ending, ruining everything for me. LOL

Im not hating on the devs. I think I have touched one of the best media since few years. Its really good. There is lots of little touches and general carefullnes about all the details - even radio music was carefully prepared for the game vibe - make the experience truthfully engaging and emotional. Hitting on the teleport activation and rushing for your life still got me some shivers, even after lots of those.

Steam controller

Does someone know how to make the steam controller work? I tried in every way but it refuses to work unless i map all the controller as keyboard and mouse.

Pacific Drive is criminally underrated—no game has ever made me feel an emotional bond with a vehicle like this.

Most survival games give you a base to build, but Pacific Drive made your base a rusted 1980s station wagon and it’s pure genius!! The narrative brilliance of turning the car into a "Remnant" that physically and mentally binds itself to you creates an emotional connection no other game has achieved.

You aren't just driving it; you're maintaining its health, fixing bizarre "Quirks," patching up flat tires mid-storm, and customizing its panels. When you barely escape an instability storm with two blown tires and a smoking engine, pulling into the garage feels like bringing a loyal companion back from the dead. It’s a masterclass in gameplay-driven storytelling that got severely slept on.

We are so close chat

Redownloaded the game a few weeks ago because it kept haunting me plus this one of the most unique rougelites i've played so it leaves a very peculiar mark. The Ironwood videos helped me get back into the game as well as the totally easy expeditions.

What is the gameplay of this game like?

Is it similar to VoidTrain and Raft?

Before yall go after me I did some research, but I don’t wanna watch hours of playthroughs to figure out the gameplay

Is it similar to The Raft and Voidtrain in terms of you drive upgradeable vehicle through a straight single path, collect resources, learn lore through stops, upgrade yourself/vehicle, fight enemies etc? Or is it different?

Need a hand?

Feel free to wave me down when you're broken down on the side of the road or if you just need someone to listen to some tunes on the radio 🤷‍♂️

How do I reliably get harmonic energy?

Just started the whispering woods recently and I’ve been trying to put harmonic parts on my car (doors, panels and the like). But repairing them seems to be a pain because I rely on components I find from decks of souvenirs. So I was wondering what I’m missing? Because surely there must be better ways to repair these parts as if it was this difficult why would there be a harmonic capacitor…?

i found a small duplication glitch

I play on a slightly older 2025 version and I was pissing around with the storage and tried dropping all my panels cause it didn't let me drag them into the part lockers and it just kept dropping them, i swear I have not crafted this many panels

I was on my 3rd destination without any panels and I accidentally put it in park 😭😭😭😭😭
