It’s almost that time of year again…

…plenty of panel shows to stick your teeth into. The Summer’s always a bit dead, but Autumn/Winter months always compensate.

This time around, the channels aren’t messing about. Of the top of my head:

- Mock the Week

- Taskmaster

- Michael Sheen’s House of Games

- Last One Laughing: Halloween Special

- QI (?)

- Have I Got News for You?

I’m probably missing something blatantly obvious.

Not a panel show, but The Celebrity Traitors has plenty of comedians/unofficial comedians (James Acaster; James Blunt; Joanne McNally; Joe Lycett; Miranda Hart; Rob Beckett; Romesh Ranganathan).

Can’t wait for it - cosy panel show evenings are drawing near!

Direktor Svemira S02 E02 (Taskmaster Croatia w/ English subs)

The video may be found here (English subs should play automatically, if watched in your browser), and the English subs can be downloaded separately here.

Many thanks to our anonymous source for the episode file, and to our translator Waffles for helping me fix the entirely AI-generated subtitles.

For the previous season of Direktor Svemira, check the International Taskmaster Collection. The first three episodes of season 1 and all 10 episodes of season 2 are also available on the Voyo streaming service, if you have access to that and want to help increase their viewing figures, to convince them that making this show available again was a good decision.

Stormester updated subtitles + BiT update

As you might know, the Taskmaster International channel recently uploaded the entirety of Stormester S1 with the AI translated subtitles from years ago. A very kind Danish person made corrections to them in the comments of each episode. We've updated the Stormester S1 subtitles (HERE) with these changes, for anyone who keeps their own copies. (EDIT: Nearly all of the changes are in episodes 5-8)

Also, I expect to have new BiT episode subtitles up starting at the end of this week. I had the S11 finale nearly done, and then my computer exploded and I lost everything T__T I've just been dragging my heels doing it all again. Apologies to everyone, and to u/ElPressimo in particular, who has been incredibly patient with me, and also working diligently on the S12 subtitles despite my delays.

After being revealed early in a TV promo, the cast of Kongen Befaler season 13 has officially been announced.

Press release.

I previously made a post about the early reveal in a TV promo, but now that they've officially announced it, along with a hi-rez promo image (can you spot a difference by the way?), I figured I might as well post it and the write-up I did (again) sans spoiler tags along with some additional notes and structural adjustments. Enjoy.

Top to bottom: Iben Akerlie (actress and author), Aslak Maurstad (voice actor and gamer) Robert Stoltenberg (comedian), Johan Golden (comedian), and Ulrikke Falch (actress).

Johan Golden has been a longtime collaborator of the king himself Atle Antonsen and the two have had the radio show Misjonen, formerly Kommisjonen before they moved over to a different channel, on air for almost 20 years now so this will be very interesting. My dad noted that "Golden vs. Antonsen could get colorful.".

Robert Stoltenberg has likewise also been a longtime comedian, best known for his comedy show where he plays all the main characters, a schtick that has been long oversaturated by now. He's also written some children's books with his brother and has been in the detective panel of Maskorama (The Masked Singer) for a couple seasons now along with season 8 winner Tete Lidbom. He sadly does have a tendency to get a bit goofy as if we was slipping into a character, making him one of the weakest aspects of it. I do agree with my dad that he could be pretty solid in Kongen Befaler if he's just himself.

Fans of The Traitors will likely recognize two of the others from various seasons of Forræder. Ulrikke Falch (Forræder season 4) is probably best know for starring in the high school drama Skam with season 12 winner Ina Svenningdal. She apparently also starred in season 2 of the show Gym, hosted by Kongen Befaler season 2 alumni Mia Hundvin, which I may have surpressed from my memory. I recall reading an interview from a year or two ago where it said she was studying in Denmark.

Aslak Maurstad (Forræder season 2) is from a family of actors with his brothers Scott and Stinius also being voice actors, though he and Stinius are to a much lesser degree. (Stinius is also a violin player.) He's also a gamer and subtitler for live TV broadcasts, record fast at that. Last year, he hosted Hotellet, apparently an adaptation of a concept called The Fortune Hotel, which was actually a pretty enjoyable if familiar show. As a little fun fact, their mother Mari is a certified Disney voice actor, being the official voice of Daisy Duck and also voicing Huey, Dewey, and Louie in the original DuckTales. Woohoo!

And last but not least is Iben Akerlie who, like Ulrikke Falch, is not the most prolific name but she makes appearences in reality shows and movies from time to time though she's probably most known for writing the children's book Lars is LOL. She's also a very dry and deadpan person. Think of Jenna Ortega's version of Wednesday Addams without a penchant for murder.

What are some underrated Sean Lock bits?

Every time his name comes up in conversation it’s the same few clips that get referenced.

- Carrot in a Box
- Nazi Island
- “Rectum of the year” (and various other clips from the same episode like “challenging wank”£
- his rant about the kids’ acting on Big Fat Quiz of the year.

Sean was in hundreds and hundreds of panel show episodes- we can do a bit better than regurgitating the same 4 clips.

- Mine is the episode of 8/10 Cats where Uri Geller was on and Sean is very much a skeptic- he’d also clearly had a drink in that episode “my left foot is now my right foot- aah”…

- Or his random quote in a Catsdown episode- “I don’t fuck bears, Jimmy”… out of nowhere
